  1. Tried that multiple times. They're under more pressure from their employer than the promise of a tip would offset. It didn't work... so I no longer choose to use their service. To each their own.
  2. Not to me. Along with the inflated pricing comes a sales pitch that is annoying. I have tried telling the person performing the service that I prefer a quiet service (massage or facial), that I will not be buying any products and that if they want an additional gratuity to dispense with the sales pitch. Despite this, the sales pitch happens. They must be under quite a bit of pressure to sell. I prefer the services I can get at home. Half the price (or less), just as good or better and no sales pitch.
  3. I think it's Smart Casual and Evening Chic, but whatever the name you're right it's far from formal and now pretty much all the same.
  4. I disagree. I think X doesn't want people to use their traditional balconies as much as they do. They want them out of their cabins spending money on the ship!
  5. Our steward has never been able to swap it out. We always take it to our dining venue (MDR or Blu) and the sommelier always has been glad to swap it for us. We usually get Prosecco or a bottle of red. Cheers!
  6. We always use www.cruisedeckplans.com It has all the cruise lines and ships and shows cabins with noise problems, obstructions, etc. and you can move one deck onto another to see what's above/below you. Lots of useful info.
  7. The last time we left on a cruise that departed on Friday the 13th was on 3/13/2020. 2 days later we were told that we would be returning to port since the world was shutting down for Covid!
  8. You need the app and their reservation number and passports to do the check in. You can do the photos later or at the pier. If you opt to do them later, take their photos within the app and they will upload. The most important thing to do is check in at midnight EST to get the earliest boarding time.
  9. Does anyone who's sailed on Silhouette recently know definitively if there's pickleball? Conflicting answers appear on various sites. TIA
  10. We generally arrange to park our car at the hotel where we stay the night before the cruise and then Uber or Lyft from the hotel to the port and back. Since DH has a back issue, it's worth it to us for the convenience of being dropped off/picked up at the terminal without having to handle our luggage. Often the hotel offers reasonable parking and the combination parking/Uber cost combined with the convenience of having someone else handle the luggage works out better. Just a though you might want to consider.
  11. Just a FYI. There is an outlet in the bathroom above the sink near the ceiling. It is a low voltage only though it's good for an electric shaver or to charge an electric toothbrush.

  13. Do you have a dining package or are you booking individual reservations?
  14. Anytime we've done Go Green, the steward cleaned the room during the AM hours and straightened and refreshed the room (including replacing used towels) in the evening turn down service. Honestly, we noticed no difference in the service we received when we weren't signed up for the program. I suppose you could ask your steward when you meet them for the cleaning at night if you prefer.

  16. Blu is wonderful....but the food and service in Murano is waaay better. We don't think the other specialty restaurants aboard are worth the cost. That being said given your cost differential, we'd opt for the 5 night dining plan and skip Blu.
  17. Call and/or email executive offices. The person I spoke with this morning said they are being inundated with calls and emails about the footstool issue. Maybe this will be reversed if enough of a dustup happens.
  18. Because it isn't a verandah! It's a window that rolls down and can be locked at any time by the Captain. It also isn't furnished with chairs that are comfortable to sit on. Just 2 of many reasons.
