  1. Check out this thread for a video review of cabin 9106 (B6) on the Epic. The person only shows one closet [2:30], but I think there is another one facing the couch. In other staterooms (with the couch by the balcony door), the two closets may be side by side.

Thx. Our room is right near this one!! 11 more days!

  2. Ive looked into a few freewalkingtours and they sound like some we might consider has anyone done these, do they rush around or just normal walking pace. Also it says theyre free but you pay by tips which is fine but what is the going rate to tip for a free walking tour? I want to make sure we tip the correct amount.

Also like the idea of the hop on hope off type buses so may do something like that.

    thanks

Just booked runner bean tour in BCN

  3. I have been at port from 11 Am, 12 Pm, 1 Pm, 1:45. I have done over 20 cruises. I can tell you with confidence if you want no line at all, get there as late as they let you. On my last cruise I arrived at 1:45 , there was no line at all. I am not kidding you, I walked in and went to check in immediately. If your first priority is to have no lines, then get there as late as they will let you get there.

As you know NCL lets you pick the time to arrive at the port to check in, on my last Breakaway, the latest time was 1:15-1:45, that is what I picked. That was the latest time they had. It was absolutely perfect.

Where do you pick time for checkin?

  4. You will be fine. They will do a lifeboat drill/muster around 5:30, so dump your stuff in your stateroom, grab a drink before 5 pm, and begin enjoying your cruise.

BTW Barcelona is a fun place to visit and there is a lot to do just outside the port.

Thanks. We plan to go to Boqueria market , Palau de la Musica and Parc Guell... What is near port ?

  5. We were also on the Epic in October. The only poor meal we had was in Shanghai. Taste was very good. Did not eat in the Manhattan Room. Le Bistro and Cagneys were excellent. O'Sheehans for breakfast was ok. Buffet food was good but getting seated was a nightmare.

Glad to hear this. We are booked at Cagneys and le Bistro on our 12/19 cruise. Did you try Taste for breakfast?

  6. ROFL ... why is she getting her knickers in a twist over the blazer if she isn't even going on the cruise?

That's a really good question. Bc she is a widow and has nothing else to do. Haha!! He will bring a little of everything minus the damn blazer!!!

  7. We found the airport to be pretty organized, but FYI they do "random" TSA checks of folks at the gates before the plane boards. They call out passenger names - as it seems to be time to board - and take them to a different area for another search of themselves and their carry on items. My husband was one of those and we had wondered why he got a different color on the back of his passport from the AA rep when we checked in .... In talking to one of the other travelers, he mentioned that he knew he was going to be one of the random travelers because he had a letter code on his boarding pass (as did hubby).

We were there in October so there may be additional procedures now -

ps believe it or not, the McD capuccino was great at the airport lol

Thanks. Did it take 3 hours??

  8. We just did a flight home from Barcelona at 11:45 and definitely doable with time to spare. We did a taxi to the airport and decent price rather than doing the NCL shuttle bus.

Is BCN airport pretty organized or does it take forever to get thru security- what about coming how was customs/immigration? do we need 2 hours or more?

  9. How old is your son, and does he like to dress up? Would more people tend to dress up on a Christmas Cruise? My husband never brings a blazer or suit on cruises. He'll wear a pair of dress pants, a button down collar shirt, and a necktie for cruises on Royal Caribbean. On NCL, he might not wear the tie.

He is almost 21. Happy to dress up but doesn't want him to look too nice. My mother can't seem to understand how casual it is. She goes on small shios where you dress each night. Thank goodness she isn't coming !!

  10. yes I know it is freestyle and you can wear what you want but do most dress decent at night-nice shirts/blazer for men and dresses/ nice pants for ladies- Or do you see people in mainly jeans/tshirts- my mother insists that my son brings a navy blazer....and I've told her times it is a casual cruise!! We will be on The Epic over Christmas

  11. If you are worried about the lines, but also worried about planning too far in advance and picking a time slot that you can't make, you can wait until you are ready to head to the park and use your hotel's wifi or some other internet access and see if you can buy tickets for right then. I just went on the site now (1:30pm) and I could have bought tickets for 2:30pm.

The monumental area of the park is relatively small. You can spend a lot of time there, but the rest of the park is also worth a walk around (easily an hour or more). So you can also pick a later time to give yourself a cushion, and if you get to the park earlier than that, there is other stuff to do while you wait.

That's good to know. I was able to look at next few days and there seem to be plenty available.
