SG65CB replied to SuitesRbest's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Scammer email, someone wants you to miss your final payment so they can grab your suite. -
Checked in!! Questions for recent Oasis cruisers!
SG65CB replied to mook1525's topic in Royal Caribbean International
If this is because you want to reserve your shows as soon as you board, you don't need Voom to do that. You need to connect to the ship's wifi then use the RC app to reserve your shows. You do not need Voom to use the app. -
Inappropriate art on Adventure of the Seas?
SG65CB replied to soremekun's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I thought it was going to be this artwork from Adventure of the Seas - this was our landmark to find our cabin. "Love Handles" -
Cruise Critic has a discussion board called "Gulf Coast Departures" which will have a lot of the information you are looking for, including hotels, parking, and pre/post cruise activities. A lot of the posts are about Galveston but you'll also find plenty about New Orleans. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/316-gulf-coast-departures/

Cruising during Hurricane Season?
SG65CB replied to huntr104's topic in Royal Caribbean International
The biggest financial risk happens if the hurricane prevents you from getting to the ship. If the ship does not sail you'll get a refund, but if it sails without you there is no refund. Travel insurance should cover the loss if you can't get to the port due to flights being canceled. You have to buy the insurance before the storm is named. -
Even on land YouTube TV will not let you watch local programming if you are not physically in your local viewing area. A VPN will not help unless the VPN has an option to simulate your local area, but I have never seen a VPN with an Alabama server. If your goal is to watch whatever football team is your home team you won't be able to do it if it is a local broadcast.

Or maybe it's as simple as they have a separate cart for luggage from passengers who don't tip. A cart full of luggage that takes a "special" journey on it's way to your cabin... Do you want to risk it??

Oasis Embarkation and tips about the Oasis?
SG65CB replied to cvasto's topic in Royal Caribbean International
No. The app will use the ship's wifi service for free without needing a Voom package. -
Harmony of the Seas, booking shows?
SG65CB replied to shellster1's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yes you can book in the app, but you have to be connected to the ship's wifi. That's why everyone tells you that you can only book shows after you board the ship. You don't need to purchase Voom internet service, the app will use the ship's wifi without an internet package. -
Deployment 2023-24 booking season begins
SG65CB replied to Biker19's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Foreign flagged cruise ships cannot transport passengers from one US port and disembark in a different US port without first visiting a "distant" foreign port. This is due to the Passenger Vessel Services Act. I think Aruba is the closest "distant" foreign port, and a 4 night cruise (November 3-7) wouldn't have time to go from Boston to Aruba and then to Miami. They'll have to sail without passengers from Boston directly to Miami. -
You can have different drink packages but this has to be arranged by phone, not through the website. The website will require both to purchase the deluxe package.

Am I reading this correctly?
SG65CB replied to Newcruiser215's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Depends on if "bookings" refers to a cruise booking, or refers to the purchase of a cruise planner item such as a beverage package. -
Maiden name on Vax cert married name on passport
SG65CB replied to turtle1947's topic in Royal Caribbean International
This happened a few months ago with a member of our party but in reverse, old passport with maiden name, vax card with married name. Booked on cruise with maiden name to match the passport. It caused a lot of worry. Brought the marriage license but didn't need it. At the port handed over the vax card without saying anything to see what would happen. They accepted it. We think the matching first name and date of birth was good enough to get it accepted. Bring the marriage license to prove the name change just in case, and you should be good. -
My experience is a scooter rented from the places that do cruise ship rentals will fit through the door of a regular (not accessible) cabin. The issue in the cabin is bed placement. You want a cabin where the bed is by the balcony so you have room to bring the scooter into the cabin. If the bed is by the bathroom you won't be able to get the scooter in and out of the way because it can't get past the bed. If you post your cabin number there are people on here who can tell you if the bed is by the balcony or by the bathroom.

Which itinerary with a 1yo?
SG65CB replied to JayhawkCruiser23's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Perfect Day would be the easiest with a young child. No ground transportation needed, don't have to worry about car seats, the ship is nearby and you can easily stop back at the ship if you need to. Pool and beach are available at no cost. -

Carry on a small bag with your Chef's Table clothes? -
DBP Memorial Day sale price for Voyager of the Seas March 2023 is $70/day. Internet access is on sale too. Voom four device S+S is $44/day, was $70 a few days ago but that might have been an artificial increase to make the sale look better. One device is $20/day.

Note that if you do not pre-pay gratuities and you have daily gratuity charges their charges will go on their credit card. Be aware of this if you intended to pay their gratuities. They are treated as a room charge for each person.
-
Thanks. I guess you'd have to take your chance on prices, especially if you want a multi-device package the prices seem to fluctuate by more than $25.99. I'm guessing on board price is generally the full retail price.
-
A question about the $25.99 off any internet package: can you purchase the package in advance, or only on the ship? Just now I went to the planner for my next cruise and tried to buy the package but I didn't see a way to apply the $25.99 discount.
-
Yes, to avoid packing a ton of people into one location they do it differently now. You watch some safety videos in the app (before or after boarding) or on the TV in your cabin, then you stop by your muster station and check in with a crew member there. Once you check in you can leave. The crew member is at the muster station all afternoon waiting for people to come and check in.

Greet the concierge whenever you arrive in the lounge. The first time introduce yourself with names and cabin number, and thank them for their assistance with dining arrangements. Tipping the concierge is customarily done at the end of the cruise. Put the money in an envelope and write your thanks on the envelope. I find that the bartenders and servers in the lounge do a lot more work on my behalf, although occasionally the concierge does resolve a problem for us.
