  1. People do this regularly. Buying drinks for her dad isn't an option. If caught they charge all drinks at full price AND cancel the deluxe package with no refund. As RobinMN said, you can buy one deluxe and one refreshment package in a room, but you have to call for that. Depends on if people drink a lot of coffee, juices and non-alcohol drinks to make this worthwhile.
  2. If you want shade, the casitas don't provide much. Open pergola and those on the top deck may be windy to the point of unusable (depends on ship/wind directions). Even solarium may not provide shade - depends on direction of sailing, so some of the side chairs are good and other side are not. Anything in the bow is usually mostly sun (a few chairs get shade from trees). Solarium seats started to fill around 7am on the TA (mostly sea days). On port days there were lots of spaces as late as 9. There were certainly people that put towels on chairs before 7 and didn't show up until afternoon. We had 1:30 arrival time and got to the ship at 10:30. Nobody cares about arrival times anymore.
  3. The community gift shop in Nanotollik actually doesn't want cash. No place to use it. They buy stuff for the community online, so a credit works best for them. Last time we were there a calendar cost $35 (imported). Handmade antler carvings were about $10-15. Elbow-length ladies reindeer fur gloves were $17.
  4. Only thing we have had to show in years is boarding pass and our passports. And boarding pass just makes it easier for the people in the terminal since when they scan it then they have all the information already filled in for the cruise. Sometimes they take our pictures, sometimes not. She could always use a cash account onboard but then it needs to be settled before getting off. Avoid the debit cards - daily plus end of cruise holds can equal double the spending on the cruise account and can cause overdrafts if the debit account is small.
  5. Was NOT available on 3/4 day cruises on Liberty in January. We always use the service because the Fort Lauderdale airport doesn't allow bag check more than 4 hours before your flight. Hate having to store bags at the airport for 3 hours and leave security to check them in.
  6. When I booked with West Quay last August the emails came back from Radio Taxis and we didn't have a problem (other than knowing that the drive was outside the Smith store at Heathrow, to the right of where most drivers were). Tried downloading their app, but not allowed in US. So contacted them via email. They emailed me back a link to pay for the 140 pound fare. Had problems with one credit card not liking the foreign charge (Visa) so when link quit they immediately emailed me another and a different card worked fine. We will use them again this August.
  7. We prefer middle size ships like Equinox. Did not like Beyond (Edge-class) because although beautiful, the public areas are almost entirely taken up with specialty dining. Celebrity ships have more music entertainment than production shows. No smoking in casinos for both. Some folks don't like the infinite balconies on Edge-class - these open up the entire room to the ocean and shut off the AC. We got a cabin up forward inset in hull, so a real balcony.
  8. Ship excursions take care of the transport for you and sometimes the ferry even leaves from the downtown Charlotte Amalie rather than Red Hook. Both Magens Bay and Sapphire Beach may be a better fit for you. You would need to check the ferry schedule, but the Water Island ferry leave from a bar just to the right of the Crown Bay port (last ferry back is 6:15, $15 roundtrip cash only). Ten minutes to the island, walk up and over a small hill and you are on Honeymoon Beach. Very sheltered bay, lots of trees, and quiet except on weekends. We have been there where the only other people were a couple of guys stocking the bar.
  9. And the app won't allow booking two sessions of the same show.
  10. The luggage bins they put suitcases in are loaded to around 8' high. Have seen luggage fall off the top onto the pier when the tractors round a corner. Of course it isn't a big loss if the lawn chair is damaged, but ones on the bottom could puncture a soft-side suitcase.
  11. Hobby airport is 41 miles from the port and around a 45 minute drive with no traffic. Add at least another 30 minutes to Bush. We have gotten on ship transfers as early as 8 AM (bus almost full, so it left within 5 minutes).
  12. We went from the Leonardo to the farthest east berth 39 for 10 pounds. But the pre-reserved cab was 45 minutes late and we could have walked that in 20 minutes. You may have better luck with cabs since you are very close to the train and bus station. Looks like Apex is at berth 102 in the City Cruise Terminal, which is probably a 10 minute walk from your hotel. You probably can't walk direct (according to Google map) but will probably need to go to port gate 10. Your hotel is northwest of the mall. By the way, the West Quay Mall adjacent has a ton of food outlets. https://southamptonvts.co.uk/admin/content/files/PDF_Downloads/Southampton Map 2014.pdf
  13. Even if you need two internet connections, a one person/two device plan is usually cheaper than buying two single person plans. And with the Key you will be buying that. Key has to be bought for all guests in the room. Will you use other features, like priority time on the flowrider?
  14. It IS worthwhile to take inflatable chairs or noodles for water use, though. We do large noodles and have seen many folks with floating chairs.
  15. In our case, the bus only stopped at the lower parking lot (near the gift shop). If you wanted to walk to the upper lookout you had to walk both ways. Lower is actually in the gorge. You might want to compare tours with Iceland Everywhere. Smaller group (our Princess tour had 21 full-size buses) and cheaper. Tours both in Akureyri and Reykjavik.
  16. The ones I have booked with both OBC and credit card get OBC back immediately and credit card refund in a few days. Last one of these was a few weeks ago. Note that you should NEVER book and pay for more than one at a time. Book one, check out completely, then book the next.
  17. Since you mentioned Stonehenge, fly in two days early and stay in Southampton (We use the Leonardo Royal Grand and eat mostly at the mall). Walk 15 minutes to the train station on the other side of the mall and take a westbound train to Salisbury (around 20 minutes). Get off and the HOHO bus leaves from the train station basically on the hour (book online in advance, with Stonehenge bus access). Ride bus to Stonehenge, then park bus to the stones. Very easy to do.
  18. I had a similar problem a few years ago. Turned out the app required a password with a special character in it and the web site didn't. Changed my web site password and then I was able to use the app.
  19. If you have an outdoor store like Cabelas in your area, go there and tell the clerk what you are looking for. We wanted lightweight binoculars for our granddaughters for an Alaska cruise. Better ones tend to be expensive and heavy. We actually bought two 10x50 Vortex Diamondback for them for around $130 each less a lot of discounts (new account, Monday, new member). Same brand as we own. Lifetime guarantee and repair. But other brands were as low as $80 and some over $3000 (those were fantastic but weighed a ton). Store had about 50 types in stock so lots of choices. Puck a few in your price range and try them in the store.
  20. Odyssey has them in the orange sphere next to the flowrider. No longer used for bungee VR.
  21. Our preferred spot is the bar area above the solarium. Usually a couple of rows up there. Only works on ships that don't have a restaurant above the Solarium Bistro. Depending on ship direction and if you like more noise and wind, the deck above the pool may have some shade for part of the day. Running track may be shaded on one side, although depending of direction that can be the smoking area..
  22. Since the only alcohol they can sell must have Texas tax stamps, my guess is that they didn't want to deplete the onboard stock after leaving Texas waters.
  23. In Alaska you can also check out Pendleton-style blankets for use on the ship. Same as towels - they must be returned at the end of the cruise. We haven't tried the purchased ones yet since we really don't want to mess with adding them to luggage for flights.
  24. Cruise excursions are booked with the Cruise Planner, and it knows what age you are at the time of the sailing. It won't allow booking anyone that is in violation of the age limits. Have seen a couple of times where an age limit existed that disappeared later (after I had booked an excursion with independent providers).
