  1. Thank you. I won't be sailing on World Europa but I'm booked on World America so much of the information will carry over. Obviously, there will be some differences with different ships and different markets but any information is appreciated.
  2. When it comes to bait threads, a fishing analogy is appropriate. 😜
  3. It's up to you if you want to tip at the restaurants and bars. Some guests do. Some guests don't.
  4. On how many different boards are you going to lay this trap?
  5. Finally, a new topic! 🤗 Before the usual war of the words begins..... Tip vs. Gratuity vs. Service charge Thrifty vs. Cheap vs. Niggardly (look it up) Daily vs. Discretionary etc. ....everyone should take a minute and think about how nobody on the forum is going to change anyone else's opinion on the subject. To answer the OP's questions..., Tips are not mandatory. If you mean the DSC, you can remove/adjust it. If you mean the 20% service charge on things purchased, you cannot remove/adjust it. Whether you adjust the DSC or not, you can personally tip whomever you want.
  6. Technically, what you are planning is not allowed under the terms and conditions. The staff might look the other way but switching/swapping meals is not allowed under the SDP. The system might not catch the age since many people older than 12 have ordered from the kids' menu. However, the restaurant staff could rightfully not allow the 13 year-old to eat at a specialty restaurant for free. Grandma is entitled to 2 specialty meals. Your plan is to get her 4 specialty meals.
  7. This varies by stateroom type. Royal Suites and Owner's Suites get full-sized bottles that are replaced/restocked without a real limit. The same with the Pringles, the Toblerone, the nuts, and whatever else is in the mini-fridge.
  8. No. Does not include Wine and Spirit Experiences, tastings or flights, Starbucks, Ice Bars, room service, package sales, bottled water, ship specific promotions, Connoisseur Collection beverages, bottled wine, mini bar purchases, fresh squeezed juices, wine dispenser, energy drinks or vending machines.
  9. Joy 9228 is on the side (not aft-facing). It has the bed near the balcony. It has a connecting door on your left as you enter the stateroom.
  10. Yes. Yes. There is a sundeck and bar on deck 19 that is for Aurea guests. Yacht Club guests can also use that area but very few YC guests do. There is also a Main Dining Room (Manhattan) that is just for Aurea guests.
  11. The connecting part will be the same. The MA will have a slightly larger bathroom than the BA. The M4 and MA (your area) are basically the same except for bed location and sleeping capacity. There's no Pullman bed in the ceiling for the staterooms that sleep 3. The ones that sleep 4 have a Pullman bed in the ceiling above the sofa bed.
  12. Breakaway/Getaway/Escape/Joy/Bliss/Encore will be the same for standard side balcony connecting staterooms and for side Club Balcony (used to be called mini-suites) connecting staterooms. Haven connecting staterooms are a bit different depending on forward or aft-facing suites. For your particular example, the picture that I posted above is slightly different than what you will see. In your case, when facing the front door from inside, the connecting door will be in the same place but the bed will be near the balcony (12788). The other stateroom will have the connecting door on the right when facing the same direction and the bed will be near the closet.
  13. There's a magnet near the top of the door so it can be attached to the wall. Both sides would need to be open to see the kids next door. Not when the connecting door is stuck to the wall. The dailies state that requests to open balcony partitions will be denied. Balcony partitions have the ability to open for maintenance purposes and for firefighters to quickly and easily move from one balcony to the next when fighting a fire. During the Star Princess fire, firefighters had to chop their way through since those partitions didn't have the ability to open. The partitions themselves help to stop the spread of fire from one balcony to the next. The way that they are made, shaped, what they are made of etc. is for safety. The Star Princess partitions were made of different materials than the current partitions. NCL used to allow them to be open in certain instances but some people were denied when they requested and then they complained. NCL decided to not allow them to be open for passenger enjoyment. Some stewards will do it (they shouldn't) with the expectation of a tip. Some guests will do it (they shouldn't) on their own.
  14. I kept seeing "TWO" and was wondering "How did I get mixed up in this?" 😳
  15. With the balcony behind you, the lightly colored door on the right is the bathroom door and the lightly colored door on the left is the connecting door.
  16. The connecting door is near the entrance to the stateroom. It will either be on your left (in 12790) or on your right (in 12788) as soon as you enter. I don't know which one is yours. 12788 will have the bed near the balcony and 12790 will have the bed near the closet.
  17. Yes, you can buy for the 9 year-old and/or the 7 year-old. The website/app could be misbehaving so you might have more success by calling or waiting until you are onboard.
  18. For Joy 13358 - HC Configuration A 13360 - B1 bed near balcony 13362 - B1 bed near balcony 13366 - B1 bed near closet (narrowest) 13966 - B1 (Wheelchair accessible) bed near balcony 13962 - B1 bed near closet 13960 - B1 bed near balcony 13958 - HC Configuration A Deck 13 has the least deep/smallest aft-facing balconies for the BA/BA Plus ships.
  19. There are only 2 B1s on deck 10 (10368/10968 on Joy) and they are both bed near balcony.
  20. Not necessarily. Depending on how it's reserved and who reserves it, the system could assume that everyone on the reservation has the SDP and will use it at that restaurant. People can "pay" however they want once there but the system won't automatically charge if reserved before the cruise.
  21. Booking 2 or more years out is pretty normal for me if it's a ship that's under construction. That's what the "Everything...." threads are for. 😉
  22. For larger groups, 2 chefs can work "back to back" at the same time.
  23. I've only sailed MSC out of Florida (Miami and Port Canaveral) and every time, I've gotten the cards at check-in. One time, one of my kids lost her card between check-in and butler escort. We got a replacement right in the terminal. Still, I prefer getting the cards at check-in.
  24. For me, the appetizer was better than the main. Maybe I was expecting more pronounced flavors than what was delivered. I'd be willing to give it another shot and I have noticed that the menu does change slightly over time. I wouldn't pay "real" money for it but I would burn some extra OBC on something on the menu that catches my eye.
  25. I agree. It's a beautiful (usually empty) restaurant but the menu isn't appealing. MSC should alter the menu.
