It's larger and better than Escape's Haven sundeck and larger and better than Joy's Haven sundeck. One major difference is that NCL has the pool on one deck and the sundeck above that. MSC has them both on the same deck but also has a grill and bar on the sundeck.

Haven sundeck is still both sides. Vibe is also both sides but further back. Escape's Haven sundeck is still (unfortunately) only starboard side.

Not screwed. It's up to the couple to decide what the better option is. Option A - take the promo and pay the $43.60 per day. Option B - pay for each drink that the drinker has plus 20% on each of those drinks. If the drinker has enough drinks per day, Option A is better. If the drinker barely drinks anything during the cruise, Option B is better.

I've never, ever sailed without a balcony but if the choice is "balcony non-Yacht Club" or "interior Yacht Club", I'd take interior Yacht Club every time.

It's a very good ship for families plus the scheduled refurb means that the ship should be in excellent shape when you take your cruise. NCL ships are generally in good condition but Joy was extensively refurbished when it came over to North America (from Asia) and the current scheduled refurb will make it even more up to date. The Breakaway and Breakaway Plus ships (Joy is the 2nd Breakaway Plus ship) have certain bottlenecks where crowds can form but these crowds can often be avoided by taking alternate/less crowded routes. For example, if you're on deck 8 and want to get from one end of the ship to the other, you'll find that the center of the ship is crowded with people. An alternate route would be to take the outdoor Waterfront to get where you are going.

By the terms and conditions..... SDPs are personal (per person, e.g., 2 guests cannot share 1 SDP meal) and non-transferable (guests cannot give their SDP meals to someone else). ...but you might not get charged unless you order more than what the SDP covers.

Yes. Even adult guests 3&4 (who are charged a much smaller fare than guests 1&2) would get the PBP if the promo is selected and would be charged only $21.80 more.

If the under 21 is guest #2, that minor does get the soda package and is charged $1.59 pppd. By default, the system charges the full $21.80 for everyone but adjusts/lowers after the age of the minor guests is entered.

It's 10 lines down below what you pasted. It should be noticed long before entering any names and long before making a down payment. It's there... Unlimited Open Bar Package (Open Bar)... ...For sailings on or after to January 1, 2023: Guests are responsible for 20% gratuities on the retail value of the Unlimited Open Bar Package ($21.80 USD per person per day) and/or Soda Package ($1.59 USD per person per day) prior to cruise. Even if people don't notice the daily amount, they can see the running total as they select their stateroom type, location, etc. If the price changed after entering a down payment, I'd 100% agree with you. The point is that before anyone enters any payment information, that person can see the total for their cruise (taxes, port fees, service charges, etc.). Nothing is hidden from anyone but some people get locked into the "...starting at..." price and the "...free..." items and don't pay attention to what they are buying.

MSC is more "suggestion" than "rule". Certain things can be enforced but often times, even those things aren't enforced. The khaki shorts should be fine. MSC seems to make a distinction between shorts (think gym shorts) and shorts (khakis, cargo shorts, etc.). In your case, I would suggest bringing a pair of pants just in case the Maître d' is strict on your particular sailing. The same Maître d' might allow shorts the following week. Who knows? Have I seen gym shorts being worn in the Yacht Club for dinner? Yes. Is it possible that the same person wearing the same shorts might get turned away at the MDR on another MSC cruise? Yes.

Price will probably fluctuate just like when the go-karts were first introduced. Even if you see a price when the ship first launches, there's no guarantee that the price won't go up...like it did with the go-karts.

If you DIDN'T have a package, you would have paid 20% on each drink and on each meal in addition to the cost of the drink and/or meal. Knowing what you now know, would you rather take the promo and pay the 20% on the package(s) or pay a la carte? Neither is wrong (personal preference) but more people than not are better off with the promo.

If the total price isn't to your liking, don't book. You can SEE what the total price (before DSC) is before you enter names or make a payment. If you don't believe that the price is good for what you are getting, don't continue with the booking process. That's why the asterisk (*) is there. Or, you chose to not continue reading. I get it. People get excited when booking a cruise and the big, flashy "Free...." this and "...Sale" that add to the excitement. When spending hundreds or thousands of dollars, people should read before committing to anything instead of rushing into it or complaining about it.

You had a former H9. If neither the agent nor NCL can find another stateroom for you, maybe ask for a Spa pass. You'll be very close to it.
