Anything above the Hotel Service Charge (that $14 per day thing that is deducted from your account) is fine. You cannot get it wrong no matter the amount. They do what they want. You do what you want. Both are correct. The "one price for everything" would result in higher fares and the complaints about "gratuities" would change into complaints about high fares. There's no system that would make everyone happy.

I believe that the issue comes down to what the dress code is vs. the suggested dress vs. enforcement of the dress code. It's like the yellow and black "suggested" speed signs.... vs. the white and black speed limit signs... ...vs the enforcement of the speed limit sign. Someone driving 40mph on the ramp isn't breaking the speed limit. Someone driving 55mph is breaking the speed limit but probably won't get pulled over and given a ticket (enforcement). No, the beverage package (PBP) is applicable to adult guests 1-8 if any others in the stateroom select the PBP promo. Your sons would only be charged the 20% on the package price ($99pppd or $109pppd is the retail price).

Thank you for the info. While the ship was still being built, many (myself included) thought that would be the case. The info on the website was/is incorrect (no surprise there).

NCL banned door decorations a couple of years ago and the dailies stated that room stewards would remove decorations and place them in the stateroom.... I haven't seen recent dailies that state that decorations are banned. Also, enforcement seems to be spotty.

If guests 3&4 are over 21 and get FAS, they would be charged the service fee of about $20 per person per day ($19.80pppd now or $21.80pppd after Jan. 1st). If guests 3&4 are under 21, they don't get charged the FAS service charge but NCL hopes that someone will buy the soda package for them and pay about $10 pppd plus 20% (11.94pppd). An alternative is to pay over $4 for a can of soda. Also, nothing is actually free. It's paid for in one way or another.

I agree that it is frustrating but there's also the fact that the Haven concierge on the ship can say the opposite of what the NCL phone rep says. Phone rep says "...no one under 16 in the infinity pool.." Concierge says "...sure, your kids can use the infinity pool..." A different rep can say the opposite. A different concierge can say the opposite.

On paper, it's a 6-pack for each person who has the PBP (whether through promo or purchase). We'll have to wait until Jan. to see what actually happens.

If you're outside of final payment date, cancel and rebook. If you're inside of final payment date, you're probably going to share.

For the standard/promo package, the service charge is currently $19.80pppd. ($138.60 for 7 days) After the increase, the standard/promo package service charge will be $21.80pppd. ($152.60 for 7 days) $14 increase but you get the 6-pack of water.

PBP goes up to $109 PPBP goes up to $138 PBP will include a 6-pack of water. The service charge on the promo goes up by $2 pppd.

Based on my past NCL bookings when changes happened after I booked, you should be locked into what you were originally charged and grandfathered. You might not get the water boxes but the staff will probably be so used to giving nearly everyone a case, you could score a 6-pack.

I've seen a few photos with the ship pointing the "wrong way" but most of the time, the bridge is pointing to the lighthouse.
