  1. So if I buy 100 shares of Carnival stock, for less than $1000 today, I can then apply the shareholder $100 off (OBC?) on our next HAL cruise 2 months from now? Thanks,
  2. Thanks for the awesome posts/replies above! Just booked that PANORAMA EXCLUSIVE BUS. Don't understand why/how HAL cruise line's excursion is over twice as expensive...
  3. Viking has roll calls...? 😉 Wait... just checked, we have 2 people & 2 posts on our Jan 2023 cruise...
  4. Holland Amer Rotterdam ship's 3 hour bus excursion to Mt Dalsnibba & Eagle Road is $130 per person. We've found another indy tour company that has 3.5 hour tour, that includes: Bus fare, Guided Tour, Admission to Mount Dalsnibba/Geiranger Skywalk, Back in time guarantee (for cruise ship passengers), Free Cancellation, VAT, & Photo stop at Flydalsjuve & Djupvashytta, & The waterfall “Seven Sisters" , for $65 per person. They pick us up & drop off directly at the cruise port pier. Reading the 14 reviews from HAL cruisers, everyone loved the ship's excursion, a must do, gave it 4.5 stars reviews, however thought it's overpriced for just bus ride, & TripAdvisor gave the indy tour company 5 stars, with 106 out of 125 reviews as 5 stars. So any risk doing the tour thru indy company...? Thanks,
  5. We did lots of research & decided to do this walk/hike loop, from the cruise ship port in Alesund: 1. Destinasjon Ålesund & Sunnmøre, 5 minutes 0.2 miles 2. Brosundet, 1 min, 0.1 mi 3. Aksla Viewpoint, 15 min, 0.5 mi 4. Fjellstua Aksla Viewpoint, 2 min, 0.1 mi Then slow leisurely walk / sightseeing thru town back towards cruise port, 30 - 60 min, 0.6 mi
  6. We did a land tour of Spain 2 months ago, flights in & out. Did French Open, train from London into Paris, then train from Paris to Amsterdam, a month & half ago. No cruise, so no problems with testing nor masks required. With 3 Rotterdam cruises (Netherlands & Norway) this month July that doesn't require pre-cruise testing, so hopefully, our Sept cruise on Rotterdam will also won't need testing...
  7. Easy solution. Cruise lines can re-route their cruises so that if cruises to Countries/Ports A, B, & C that requires testing, then still do pre-cruise testing, but for Countries X, Y, & Z that does not, then no need for pre-cruise testing. Then let the marketplace/consumers decide which cruises they want to go on...
  8. We instantly received $100 OBC for our Feb 2023 oceanview 7 night booking. Any other benefits/perks besides that...? Thanks,
  9. CDC just ended cruise ship program today. https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/cruise/index.html So hopefully, HAL will continue to not require pre-cruise testing for all sailing soon...
  10. With HAL's no testing policy for Rotterdam: "Holland America Line has lifted testing requirements on some sailings aboard HAL Rotterdam. Guests on cruises departing July 10, July 17 and July 24 can skip pre-cruise tests." So how's it going so far, any issues? Any positive or negative news? Any more of less positive tests while during & after cruise? I know it's still early for accurate conclusions, but hopefully HAL will extend this no-testing requirement to more future cruises, as ours' in 2 months...
  11. I've never received any replies, after applying last week. Called HAL & they verbally confirmed that our $325 OBC had increased $100 to $425. Great. Just nowhere to confirm OBC amount, online nor app, before our cruise in 2 months...
  12. If you're a typical HAL passenger, just take out your hearing aid... 😀
  13. You mail me $20 cash per bottle to my home address, then I'll mail you a few smiley face stickers. No tax, free shipping... Great deal, eh?
  14. Thanks for the post. Just applied, so now awaiting reply. Agreed that it'll be much easier/better if HAL just automatically apply this perk at booking, just like when we booked Princess last wk...
  15. Browsing through the app looking at MDR menu items for our upcoming cruise on Rotterdam. In the MDR, for extra charge, we can order Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail for $8.50, 5 oz Filet Mignon & 5 oz Lobster Tail for $30, or 16 oz Delmonico Steak for $40. At the Pinnacle Grill, for $40 + 18% Gratuities ($47) upcharge, the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail & 7 oz Filet Mignon are included, & adding 5 oz Lobster tail is $10 more, or adding 16 oz Delmonico Steak is $15 more. So for the extra ambiance of the Pinnacle Grill vs MDR, it's only $20 more for the same Shrimp/Filet/Lobster combo ($57 vs $38), or $14 more for the Shrimp/Delmonico steak combo ($62 vs $48). So if we're traveling with our large family group cruise last time, it makes sense to stay in MDR & order the upgraded/upcharge Steak & Lobster combo, but it's only us 2 on this upcoming trip, looks like going to Pinnacle Grill is the better value/experience. Thoughts...?
  16. Our flights are booked thru HAL, & they won't allow any same day flights any earlier than 11:30am. So our United flight at 11 am won't work. Anyways, we've been advised to stay over in Amsterdam an extra day or two & enjoy the city. We flew out of Amsterdam last month & got there 4 hours early & it was still a close call to make the gate in time...
  17. This gives me an idea. I'll get an extra SeaPass card as soon as get onboard. Go & leave my medallion on the treadmill in the Gym, so my wife thinks I'm working out 24/7. Then freely roam the ship & use my card to buy drinks for my girlfriend...
  18. Oooops. You're right above. When I clicked on the "complementary" dinning tab, it only shows Pinnacle & Tamarind. Dang, now I have to flip a coin, & go back to remove the expensive Taste of Librije...lol
  19. I'm almost like OP. Once onboard, everything goes into the safe: Passports, phone, wallet, notebook, watch... I go cruising to do everything opposite of my life at home: no work, no phone, no computer/laptop, no schedule... & get to do things I don't get to do too much of at home: (Over)Eat, (Over)Drink, (Over)sleep, nap, cigars, Repeat... Thus, nothing in my pants/shorts pockets, except flat key card. Now, this Medallion might be great for y'all modern techies, but a little thick for me. So I can still go to service desk to trade in Medallion for flat key card...?
  20. Our cruise package includes One Complimentary Specialty Dining Credit for each of us. It's been over 25 years since our last HAL cruise, so looking for suggs, so we can reserve soon. What's the best experience/value between: Canaletto, $22.40 Pinnacle Grill Dining Experience, $46.00 Rudi's Sel de Mer, $47.20 Tamarind Dining Experience, $34.20 Taste of De Librije, $81.40 (Does this apply for Complementary credit?) Thanks,
  21. Wow. Thanks for all the awesome advice above. We looked at closer views the pics & cabin locations & looks like most of our 10 cabins are in between lifeboats, & for $50 per person ($100 for 2) for the entire 7 nights cruise over an inside, it's a no-brainer...
  22. We're Platinum on Carnival, & love this perk. But we're just Gold, going on Ruby, on our next Princess cruise, any slight chance for this perk...?
  23. Ruby Princess, coming back to Galveston this winter. We booked all 10 cabins with the $1 deposit promo, right before midnight expiration...
