  1. A cruise vacation and a superstorm are a little different and come with different expectations I'd say.
  2. My guess is she may stay in Mobile for a few days to offload nonessential crew and any artifacts/equipment they want to save, then she'll begin the long journey to Aliaga.
  3. Wow I was on the Sunshine two weeks ago and they had fries.
  4. Good for you! Me, I’d rather have my TA’s weight in gold! 😜
  5. Yes all of my S&S cards have come pre-punched for years now.
  6. I am curious now, what artifacts do you have from Fantasy? I would have loved to have had something - anything - from the Cat's Lounge.
  7. I don't know how typical this is, but I noticed on the Sunshine they were selling coins that were made from brass hand rails removed from the original Mardi Gras. So I wouldn't be surprised if they take other artifacts off.
  8. Apparently it depends on the ship. On the Sunshine and Freedom everything I ordered was made to order, but I hear reports of folks on other ships getting served pre-made (and hastily reheated) sandwiches.
  9. worst comes to worst the ships typically have motion sickness treatments available in the shop, they open shortly after sail away.
  10. Drinks everywhere is basically Cheers so it covers anything that Cheers normally would cover. So yes, specialty coffee etc.
  11. I wonder how much fuel the ships would save if they added solar panels to the lanais around the ship
  12. John Heald said "My thanks to The beard for reading the hundreds of comments yesterday requesting we keep the fries, the hotdogs and return the BLT." So apparently the BLT did go away at some point. Or maybe it reverted to turkey bacon? I don't know, my usual deli order is either buffalo chicken or hot dog so I don't know what happened to the deli BLT during the height of the bacon crisis.
  13. John is really tooting his horn about pork bacon. Amazing how low people's standards are these days they'll get excited about being able to eat real bacon. Sounds like a dystopian fiction. I'll give him a pat on his porkbelly when the rest of the cutbacks of the past few years are history as well. Cookies will be available for many hours yes, but not during some of the Deli's most busy times (when the lunch/dinner buffets are closed).
  14. I don't think anything has been confirmed but I would assume she will be heading to Aliaga to be scrapped once they get whatever they want off the ship. Hopefully some of the neon signs and decor (aside from the Rolls Royce that has already been removed) can be saved.
  15. Looks like the cookies are gone. I saw it was a big deal that he was able to get fries to stay on the menu. What were they going to serve instead?
  16. Been there done that, in fact this year on Sunshine. I was in one of the last rooms on deck 1 at the far aft of the ship. Every time we came into or left port, let's just say my wife and I were first to know. At least we had no problems getting up on time to get off the ship on debarkation day... Back on topic though - Carnival seems to be implementing pricing similar to airlines and other industries where the price you see depends on an algorithm. Your onboard spend, how many times you've visited the site without booking, casino status, moon cycle - who knows what all feeds into the offers you receive. But it's something my wife and I are cognizant of, we always check both of our accounts before booking to see who has the better offer.
  17. The mega deck party is 80s themed. They pass out some glow sticks and other trinkets from an Oriental Trading box to the crowd and dance to Whitney Houston etc. Some people dress up for it but it's obviously optional. When I say dress up, it could be as simple as wearing a pac-man t-shirt. The mexican themed night was wonderful with the midnight buffet, so obviously it couldn't last.
  18. I’ve noticed that construction at Amber Cove but haven’t noticed it at Grand Turk. But I’ve only been to Grand Turk once in the past several years.
  19. This allows Carnival to put the ships where the market is strong and if the market comes back in Europe, no harm done. If not, they can stay as a "Costa by Carnival" concept or convert over to Carnival like the Luminosa. It's an inventive way for Carnival to replace the gap left by the Fantasy class vessels and avoid over-serving other markets in my opinion.
  20. A new surprise cutback no doubt. Carnival’s website, like their onboard pizza, is no longer 24/7. 😜
  21. More likely their outsourced IT is in a different time zone and is closed during much of their normal business hours so any issues are at least a day in transit getting resolved.
