  1. Often the bartender will ask to see the other person to make sure they are physically nearby. But it's not an issue.
  2. Carnival seems to be changing "gratuity" into "service charge" in their systems as time goes on. Not sure why.
  3. you wasted your money on FTTF. can you still cancel it?
  4. I don't really know how they can effectively block iMessage because it uses the same traffic as push notifications. If they want push notifications for their Hub app, they have to allow that traffic through - the side effect is iMessage has to be allowed as well.
  5. You'll need to talk to your cellular carrier to see if you have roaming coverage overseas and how much extra it costs, if any. If not - you should have coverage in American ports - Puerto Rico, St Thomas.
  6. Fantasy and Paradise are the same size, Pride is not much larger than that. Victory/Radiance is larger, by today's standards she is not a huge ship but in comparison to those she is. Freedom is a blown up Victory/Radiance and is larger still. Freedom is about the biggest ship Carnival has built (the ships built after Freedom were a little larger but not really enough to notice), until the Excel class.
  7. Victory and Freedom are megaships compared to Paradise and Pride, tbh.
  8. I don't think people are comparing it to the old midnight buffet, if they are then heaven help them. Even compared to the regular dinner or lunch buffet, the late night snacks buffet is sorely lacking. Better than nothing is the best thing you can say about late night snacks.
  9. A better trained room steward would have called maintenance to have the door repaired. Sorry you had to deal with that.
  10. Carnival's internet package won't help you with talk and text, it's an internet plan. So AT&T's plan, if it covers talk and text, would be your best bet.
  11. The earliest I've ever seen is 9:30...I don't know if they do that every week on every ship though.
  12. I look forward to the day when cruise lines no longer see internet as something they should charge extra for, but rather an amenity like shampoo and includes it in the fare.
  13. Carnival would need to refresh the Magic before I'd go on it again personally. While I loved the smoke-free casino and have heard the food has gotten better, when I was on her in September there was not a single section of carpet or chair that wasn't stained or worn. It was really disgusting.
  14. The Social plan only allows access to the sites it lists. If it's not listed, it won't work.
  15. The Carnival website is very clear about what is included in each plan.
  16. Bubbles or not - no - all Carnival serves is Pepsi products.
  17. The midnight buffet of old is gone, never coming back. The only thing this has in common with it is it is served at around the same time. This buffet is actually called late night snacks in the fun times.
  18. I'm talking about in the last few years. My TA has an internal portal that they go to pay our Carnival cruises off.
  19. The free sites are like carnival.com, used to be cdc.gov (not sure if still is). Airlines have never been part of the free sites. Even if they were, the bandwidth afforded to the free sites is so low it would be nearly impossible to use them to check-in for a flight. I think airlines are part of the social package, that may be your confusion.
  20. Very interesting, I love it. Anything to speed up the service. Although I don't mind the leisurely pace of the MDR I know lots of folks prefer a quicker meal.
  21. And they often serve cut-up hot dogs instead of breakfast sausage on the breakfast buffet.
  22. It's a lie in my book, but whatever works for you!
  23. There are reports on here of folks who tell the port employees that their companion is not coming, that is enough to trigger the cancellation (and penalties assessed) vs. no-show. The proper way to play it is to lie and tell them they are arriving later. If you tell them the truth that they are not coming, then it is considered a cancellation. At least that's what I've heard from here. No first-hand experience.
  24. Travel agents just take your payment details and forwards it on to Carnival. You do not pay the TA and the TA then pays Carnival.
  25. Yeah on the Magic they were mostly breading and gristle. Very little actual meat. Quite nasty to be honest.
