  1. Exactly what happened. Since we can't delete posts here I just left it alone.
  2. Someone probably took the fax machine off the hook and nobody has noticed.
  3. Does it seriously take an act of congress to get a waiver for the PSVA?
  4. Really a good idea to read the terms of any promotion you book under, all your questions are answered there...
  5. Carnival limits sharing of Cheers by ensuring all adults 21+ buy Cheers if any one adult wants it.
  6. Usually bars will only allow you to order a bottle of water and an alcoholic drink at the same time. If you want a soda and an alcoholic drink you have to wait 5 minutes between orders.
  7. Depending on the fare you booked, you can either get a price adjustment or you cancel and rebook. Call Carnival or your PVP/TA to see about your options.
  8. It's because over 50 lbs it requires a team lift per OSHA regulations and they don't have the crew to team lift the luggage.
  9. Yes it is not 24/7 and is not realtime, but it is a free way to receive a message from family shoreside in case an issue arises. Obviously everyone's case is unique. If I knew I would need to be contacted, I would leave my phone on and deal with roaming charges. But I always leave the Carnival emergency contact number with my house sitter just in case. Thankfully I have never received that tap on the shoulder while cruising, and prayerfully never will.
  10. Generally this is going to be ocean view or balcony rooms. Interiors that sleep more than 2 will do so with pullmans. Porthole rooms usually have a sofa as well but I don't know if they'll officially accommodate 3 guests or not. Yes, a good travel agent or PVP can certainly help you find the right room for your needs.
  11. Yes Carnival has emergency contact information on their website, leave your booking number/ship/room number with family ashore and they can contact Carnival -Carnival will relay the message to you. Or like others have said you can turn off cellular data but leave on cellular, unless you actually answer or make a call then you shouldn't get roaming charges. You'll see someone called and can decide if you want to face the roaming charges to make the call.
  12. Yeah Carnival explicitly blocks carrier-based Wifi calling. It does not work.
  13. FaceTime Audio/Facebook Messenger should work via the Social wifi plan. You can contact AT&T or look on their website for information on roaming rates if you use Cellular at Sea to make a traditional phone call while onboard or ashore.
  14. Typically my guarantee rooms are assigned about a month prior to sail, so that when I do online check-in my boarding pass and luggage tags are ready to go. But yes it could be assigned at any time, including not until you actually arrive at the pier that morning. Just curious how is luggage handled in this instance? Presumably your luggage tags say TBA or something to that effect, how do you get your luggage delivered to the correct room?
  15. On Apple devices, http://captive.apple.com is the URL I recommend and not just on Carnival ships but anywhere you're using a captive portal wifi network. I imagine it would probably work on any other device as well but I've only used it on Apple devices.
  16. It was a moment in time that is now over. Other forms of social media have taken over. It is what it is.
  17. They will not let unaccompanied minors check in but they will let adults check in. If he has travel insurance and a covered reason for cancelling then call your travel insurance agent.
  18. Another COVID cop out that was made permanent, sadly.
  19. You can use any website, it's a captive portal like a hotel.
  20. I really don’t know how many times OP has to explain they know the items were stolen. it’s bordering on victim blaming at this point. you all can unclench - we acknowledge that carnival themselves aren’t the ones that scan luggage - we aren’t blaming CCL. So I don’t understand the white knighting in the replies of this thread.
  21. I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm on a cruise leaving out of Kentucky or Ohio and my jewelry is stolen ((the entire point of this thread you know)). Always someone trying to play "gotcha" on forums...gets so tiring.
  22. the same as the Caribbean or anywhere else - they’ll go around, even if it means your cruise ends up not stopping at any ports (but that’s rare). Cruise ships are not designed to weather tropical storms.
  23. In case I am not clear this is just conjecture on my part based upon the way the industry is moving. Yeah I could see this only happening on Excel class.
  24. It’s already very limited if not discouraged on the latest ships. Days are numbered.
