I'm not sure I understand your question.  But I'll give it a shot.  If you decide you want to cancel Regent Air and book your own, you must tell them  at least 90 days prior to your cruise.  This is on your booking confirmation.    If you cancel Regent Air and book on your own, then you're now bound by the rules of the airlines, so you need to be familiar with those. If you cancel the cruise prior to Final Payment, you still "own" the flights and will have to work with the airlines to make changes.  If you book through Regent, then you have no issues if you cancel before Final Payment. You also lose all transportation to and from the port and airport that Regent provides.  Lastly, if Regent changes either the origin or destination of the cruise, like what happened earlier this year in Alaska, you are on your own to work with the airlines and are bound by their rules.

But you control your own destiny if you book your own fights.  If you use Regent Air and don't deviate, you are at Regent's mercy.  The flights you'll generally see will have a "less desirable" itinerary. You can try to get them changed, and many are successful. But since those flights aren't even booked until around 75 days out, your options are much fewer than if you book 210 days out with Custom Air or pick your own flights.  I always try to book with Regent Custom Air at the 210 days out mark, unless I can get the flights for less than Regent's air credit.  I take the most advantageous method.

Not sure if that is what you're asking, but hope it answers your question.

Thank you!  Really appreciate all the details. You answered my question a more. 😊

Ok..question.  We make final payment in December for a late april cruise embarkation.  I have no idea what the air arrangements will be as of yet using Regent.  If I decide to go with my own air arrangements after I make final payment, then what?

I really cannot believe this thread.

Had we not sailed on Regent before, this thread would convince me never to do so.

It's 2024 folks, deal with it.

Nothing wrong with this thread.  OP is posing a question based on changes made by Regent.  Is it over the top?  Legit question, IMO.  And yes, I think it is.  I happen to love a good discussion thread...sure beats another dress code discussion.

Wind gusts are still in the 40s, very little rainfall, and power is still on.

Spoke to my parents this morning....  They are in Ft. Pierce, so on the east coast.  Their risks, as I understand it, include possible flooding, loss of power, and high winds...oh, and tornados.  Praying for all of you...please keep us posted.

Port Canaveral area is forecast to experience 3 to 5 foot storm surge. For people returning from cruises, is there a likelihood that a 5 foot surge would flood and damage cars parked at the port?

There is a covered parking deck at the terminal that is several stories high. I always park 2 or 3 levels up. Otherwise, it’s very possible.

Sorry. I never thought about it sounding that way to other posters.

No need for apologies. It’s so easy for something so simple to be lost in translation. I chuckled bc I wondered what better name MSC  could possibly come up with and then I realized…no harm..besides my heart skipping a beat…lol. 😂 All is well!

70% of stations in Fort Myers are reportedly out of gas.  But supposedly more is on the way.  We have both vehicles topped off and are staying put.  We are inland enough.  Milton, don’t prove me wrong.😑 😥

Keeping fingers crossed for you my friend!

  8. Here’s the cancellation schedule:

if you booked via TA let them know which passenger can’t go and depending on the deposit type (refundable or not) and the number of days prior to departure, you should be able to get their portion at least partially refunded. If you didn’t use a TA, you’ll have to call them directly.

We are on LBK as well. Bugging out first thing tomorrow.

We got hit very, very bad by Helene. The storm surge for Milton is predicted to be upwards of 12 feet. That may level the island!

I’ve read of reports of gas shortages along the evacuation corridor. Hopefully you won’t encounter this. God speed and be safe!

We were told we did not have a reservation at all for the cruise, and someone else was booked for our room.

This part is so confusing to me...and I'm not doubting you at all, but I wonder why Celebrity took responsibility and refunded you for a reservation they say you didn't have?  How did they even know how much to refund?  A refund suggests they got your money, so what room was that money assigned to?    Rhetorical questions, of course.

Michaels was empty the entire time on my resent sailing on Reflection and in the theater nobody showed up for the reserved seats.

Since the seating area is back from the main entrance and then wraps around to the right, it is possible you were unable to see if there were many people in the lounge.  We used Michael's quite a bit and though never full, there were always others in there as well.  I guess it could vary by sailing.

During the day on a sea day the retreat was also empty.

I can imagine that the revolutionized Retreat deck would indeed be empty as there is limited shade, no bar, no water feature.  This space is indeed useless on S class ships.  On E class, it's an entirely different story.

To be fair the steerage seats were better on deck 4 which is where we sat every night after that.

Couldn't agree more.  We never take advantage of the roped off seating designated for Retreat guests.  We prefer to sit at a bar top at the back of the theater in order to make a quick exit.

With that said I never feel like steerage class on Celebrity.

Exactly this.  I think Celebrity does a great job making all guests feel special, regardless of stateroom category.  IMO guests should keep in mind that Celebrity markets certain perks and experiences based on room category...much like booking first class on an air plane.  People wouldn't book it if the amenities were exactly the same across the board.

  12. Silhouette is a wonderful ship. Never have I encountered your list of concerns when on board Silhouette. The atmosphere is relaxed and the crew are truly amazing. The class system thread that is currently up for discussion regarding roped off areas in the theater is just silly imo and way over the top. Ultimately, you’ll have to decide for yourself but I definitely wouldn’t cancel.

We plan to do another live thread, and look forward to sharing the expected different menus and wine from a ship that was based in the Mediterranean vs. US.

Awesome!  This will keep me going right up to our embarkation on Seascape on November 23rd.  If I ever get the opportunity to do a TA, it will definitely be the route you're taking!

We had a singer for the evening's show in the main theater.  A row behind us, a couple with a five year old child spent most of the show having a conversation with their child.  Despite the usual "shushes" and folks giving them the "eye" it didn't stop for long as the kid was - rightfully - absolutely bored out of his skull.  But that wasn't the "interesting" bit.  That came mid-show where the singer had to STOP the show as a child was WAILING loudly up in the balcony area.  The parent(s) didn't seem to know how to rectify the situation - appease the child or leave the theater - so it went on for a minute or so before the singer stopped, asked the parent(s) to kindly take the child elsewhere, waited for that to happen, and offered her understanding of the challenge of a crying child.

Wow to both!  I continue to be amazed by parents who seem unable to read the room when it comes to parenting decisions for their children.  If I had been the parent whose child's wailing was loud enough and continuous enough to actually stop the show (good on the performer, btw) I think I'd have to abandon ship in both shame and embarrassment.

We will be glad to follow your Grandiosa travels in 2026 here on CC. Buon viaggio!

Just looked up Grandiosa and was pleasantly surprised to see it's leaving from Port Canaveral in 2026...driving distance for us.  May need to take a closer look...interestingly, the rates are higher for the same time period.
