  1. Meaning we can just get off the ship and walk to the town, right? Woohoo! That's great news! We have the lumberjack show reserved at 11 and was hoping to just walk there from the ship. We are also doing our own pub crawl...self guided.
  2. Quite right...I can see that as well. I have never considered removing auto grats but have often been concerned whether or not the extra tip we gave had to be shared.
  3. I think this little known fact needs to be broadcast far and wide...
  4. His last cruise was late 2018. So yes, it had been years. My point was not to disparage Princess...only to say that I believe all cruise lines have made cuts.
  5. I'm hoping my dad comes around to go on another . I rather doubt it was a drastic as he made it out to be but he can be a bit of a curmudgeon. And it didn't help that he came home with cruise crud...
  6. Seems a rather daunting task to track down everyone and provide them with gratuity. May I ask how you will go about this? Just genuinely curious.
  7. Yes, I believe they did! I guess one cruise line's cuts is another cruise line's splurge!
  8. My parents recently came off a Princess cruise to the ABC islands. My mom and I cruise together a lot but never on Princess, so she has a frame of reference. My dad, however, is/was only loyal to Princess. After returning from their most recent cruise at the end of March, my dad finally said no more Princess. They had an upper level suite and the highest level of drinks package...whatever that may be. Dad said service has slipped, their "premium" wines were akin to boxed wine (maybe a little exaggeration), no more writing paper or pen in suite, they didn't ask preferences for mini bar set up, the included specialty dining had limited reservations available, no more individual toiletries or fresh flowers or corsage on formal night...and his list went on. His assessment was that since the cruise lines lost so much money during Covid, they are trying anything and everything to recoup their losses...and it shows. This was his first cruise since the restart so all he knows is how it used to be. So I think the answer to you question is absolutely yes!
  9. I sent an e-mail to executiveoffice@celebrity.com and told them I was sorry to learn about the lounger situation on Celebrity Ships. I further opined that it was ridiculous that one has to go through the trouble of requesting a lounger only to further burden the crew to put back into place that which used to be there when I booked my cabin. I then gave my sail date, ship, cabin number and requested that 2 loungers be on our balcony upon arrival. I guess we will see what happens...
  10. Or you could try requesting them and see what happens. Reports in this thread indicate that a request is all it takes. Annoying yes, but worth a try. It's what we plan to do on our upcoming cruise. Personally, this isn't enough for me to call it quits with Celebrity. I know it's a personal choice for all so no judgement here.
  11. We are also dining in Eden on our first night (Edge). The lemon tart looks wonderful. I will try to save enough room for it but it's hard to do in Eden as the food is so good. Question: How was Eden on night 1? Crowded? We have 6:30 reservations but I'm hoping to push it back a tad.
  12. We board in less than 2 weeks. I will report out! I know the Juneau stop will be a late casino opening...because we don't leave port until 10 pm. looks like the casino opens at 10:45 that night.
  13. Great pictures. I would totally book that room! Looks so pretty and I agree, it's great for sleeping because it gets super dark. Glad your embarkation day is going well!
  14. I expect great treatment (and have received it), regardless of the category I book. If I pay extra for Retreat, I expect to get the extras for which I paid. Good treatment should not be an "extra". I would not expect better or faster medical attention because I was staying in the Retreat.
  15. I would never yell at a crew member over a lounger, or anything else for that matter. It's just not classy. And I'm sure none of my fellow CC members would either. But I have no doubt that some people do conduct themselves in such a way and I blame corporate for putting their crew in the line of fire. How frustrating for them!
  16. FWIW I am planning on doing a live review of our Edge to Alaska cruise embarking May 31, and I will definitely be reporting/providing updates on lounger-gate... 😁. Hopefully, it's as easy as requesting them...which, of course isn't as easy as already having them.
  17. Sending an email to the executive office today indicating my expectation of 2 loungers on our MC balcony.
  18. The only reason to wait that I can think of is if one wants to use OBC from their TA to make the purchase.
  19. Thank you for the detailed response. Seems like a great service and a no brainer decision! Traveling is stressful and if this relieves some of that, I’m all in.
  20. Bumping this thread back up to garner any recent experiences. As @CruiserBruce pointed out, there are several threads on the topic, including the one I started a few minutes ago, but finding them via the search function is a pathetic undertaking, at best. As it is, I stumbled across this thread via google... We just signed up for luggage valet service and I am hopeful it is as good and reliable as it seems. Our confirmation indicates that airline baggage fees will be billed to our cruise folio. However, we have 2 comped bags due to first class ticketing so we shouldn't get a charge to our folio. How reliable is this? I DID indicate an exemption to the bag fees when I signed up.
