  1. Well suite guests can check in any time so the assigned time is really just a filler. I can’t speak to the assigned times but I will say that we’ve shown up much earlier than our assigned time, fully expecting to wait, and have boarded literally upon arrival.
  2. So is it feasible to discretely leave the venue without being too much of a distraction? Or are there breaks between acts?
  3. We will be front and center on night one. How long is the show? 7 pm is too early for dinner so we will have to eat afterward. It’s always about the timing. Or maybe we will skip lunch and go for an early dinner. But embarkation lunch is my favorite thing to do to kick off a cruise. Decisions decisions.
  4. We always book our cruises with a credit card in order to rack up points and rewards. But recently I was reading about other rewards like access to pre departure lounges, added insurance, and other freebies that I may be missing due to using the wrong card. What is your card of choice and what are the fringe benefits of said card?
  5. We will be doing our first Seascape next month. We’ve been on sister ships Seashore and step-sister Seaside and have enjoyed the pizza and gelato. I am also looking forward to the wine bar on deck 8 (not available on Seaside)…and my personal favorite challenge is to have a drink at every bar on the ship. As for Ocean Cay, definitely visit the lighthouse bar. The views are great and they have awesome umbrella seating making hanging out in this area very comfortable. As private islands go, OC is our favorite.
  6. We often do this when leaving out of Miami for the same reason...lots of available flights. Maybe MSC should change their policy to allow cars with YC passengers to head to the front of the drop off line! 😁 There...now we are back on topic...sort of 😂.
  7. You will get both. They will stock your fridge with your preferences. I have heard success stories with trading out the embarkation champagne with a bottle of wine instead.
  8. I can’t speak to the rationale for this change but I can say I’ve never experienced any issues or difficulties flying into/out of Miami. FLL is equally easy and often a smidge cheaper to fly to/from but honestly, I’m ok with either.
  9. Last time we were on Celebrity (Reflection, end of July) we tipped the Michael's Club bartender extra. Frankly, I don't know how anyone's tips are allotted, I just tip as the mood strikes and do not follow a hard and fast rule. We tipped our butler and cabin steward extra but the cabin steward did more for us and so his additional tip was commiserate with that. I have no clue if it was enough but it was more than the daily gratuity and unlike our butler, he didn't appear to expect it.
  10. Never cruised out of New York and I'm looking for options to getting to the Brooklyn Cruise terminal that don't include ride share or taxi. We are staying in lower Manhattan and I've discovered a ferry nearby at Wall Street/Pier 11. It appears that if we take this ferry and get off at a stop called Red Hook, we will be at the cruise terminal. Cost is $4.50 pp. Could it really be this easy? What am I not understanding or thinking about with this option? If you've don't this, how did it go?
  11. We will also be on Meraviglia in December but embarking in Brooklyn will be a first for us. After doing some research it seems that the UBER drop off on embarkation day is mass chaos. So I found a ferry option from Manhattan, where we will be staying a few nights prior. It appears we can catch the ferry at Wall Street/Pier 11 and take it to a stop called Red Hook which is right next to the cruise terminal. My long winded lead in to asking... are you familiar with the ferry option and is it more viable than taking UBER in from Manhattan?
  12. Really? That stinks. Hope they improve their supply for November.
  13. Exactly the reason we haven’t booked grand deluxe suite. Sure there’s a WIC but the trade off is peace and quiet while paying more! No thank you.
  14. The hot tubs are, well…hot. But the outdoor pool is not heated. Try to convince your DW that the scenery in Alaska trumps getting into a pool.
  15. We had a MC sky suite on Edge. Also a corner balcony facing aft. We were on deck 9. There were no downsides to this cabin. The balcony was large and well shaded, which is a plus for us. We watched the MC make it’s decent to deck 5 one afternoon which was cool to see. The aft view through the extra cut out was nice as well. I’m sure for some there will be a question of privacy as nearby balconys may have a view on to yours via the side cut out. If this is worrisome one could always book a room that is not on either of the ends. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a great way to travel!
  16. Another question…do you happen to know if the stateroom doors are magnetic on the outside?
  17. @JamieLogical thanks for all the awesome information. Your write up of getting to the port is so very helpful! Another question: do you know if the stateroom doors are magnetized?
  18. Congratulations on such a wonderful (and rare) accomplishment! I can't think of any better way to celebrate than while by taking a cruise. We will celebrate our 20th in November but this year will be on a different cruise line. I think the MDR will be all too happy to accommodate. Also worth noting, and you probably know this already, but you can order a celebration package in your cruise planner as well.
  19. So not the extensive list that I was thinking/hoping for. I was hoping to ask for a bottle of Bailey's...probably will ask...all they can do is say no.
  20. Thank you for posting this. Glad you found someone who was willing to go to bat for you. Hard to argue with what's printed right there in black and white...surprised the uniformed officer wasn't swayed by their own publication. Note to self...print and bring a copy of everything.
  21. Thank you for pointing out the scroll bar! Just went back to read today's post but it's too wide a scroll (almost like it's landscape) so wasn't too successful. I get the gist though, so far JL is having a great time!!
  22. And the grand deluxe suites are usually higher up (deck 19 on Sea class) than the deluxe. I like the idea of a WIC but the Deluxe has 2 big closets so each of us can have our own space.
  23. We love MSC but it doesn’t mean everyone else will share that opinion. All you can do is follow your gut.
  24. So i just helped 8 of my friends who are new to mSC set up their accounts. You need your booking number and the button “manage cruise”. Try this rather than making a new account. I don’t think you’ll find anyone who will try to convince you that MSC’s IT dept is on point. But don’t confuse crappy IT with a crappy cruise. One is not indicative of the other.
