  1. Problem with IV's is the captain can control when you can or cant have it open. I will never sail in one again.
  2. Glad you had the Key. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it throughout your review. We have it on Allure in 5 weeks. Enjoying your review. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Allure was late leaving today as well. Just watched her sailaway about an hour late.
  4. We are on this cruise with you and reached the same conclusions as you did. Got the beverage package due to ports and passed on the dining package. We will probably do a couple of restaurants out of pocket on this trip because we have a decent OBC from our travel agent. We are thinking Samba and Sabor as they are the cheapest of the specialties. We will be keeping our eyes open for specials once on board as well.
  5. This is crazy. I wonder how much money they have lost today due to no sales in the cruise planner?
  6. I had the same thing happen for a couple of hours after I checked it. Then it was fine.
  7. Getting a little ugly in here. I will just kind of say what was said earlier. I will not tip extra when I cruise now. The reason why is tips have been set for me. In the old days those that showed real initiative got WAY more from me than those people do now. My feelings on auto gratuities are mixed. You still have many that go above what is expected. And those people get screwed by those that dont. I will say once auto tips were created I feared service would completely collapse. It hasnt. But there are definitely those that do not work as hard as others and just skirt by. Those people make the same from me as those that bust their butts. Because of the system. You decide if that is fair or not. Live and die by the system I guess.
  8. They see 23 Billion in debt and a B2 credit rating.
  9. ICON teaser part 2 released today. Some really good views of mock ups and VR of Central park and some other areas.
  10. I just watched a video this week from a man that went to Haiti for a few days. It is really sad what is happening there. They cannot get fuel as the gangs are stealing it all as soon as the tankers hit port. They then deliver the fuel in drums to local gas stations and sell it there on the black market. It is killing all businesses there. Cabs, trucks and those who depend on generators are in deep trouble.
  11. And they got it in cash. Tax free. I miss the old days of cruising for many reasons. But the tipping policy is definitely one of them.
  12. Like you we are not loyal to any single cruise line. We have done just about all of them. But recently we have settled more on Celebrity. It has food on par or better than NCL. And it has the relaxing atmosphere we have grown to love since we are now empty nesters. But we are cruising on Allure next month for our first Oasis class cruise. Just to see what that is all about. We will find something we like to eat at every meal and be perfectly content with whatever that is. We havent been on a NCL ship in a long time. And man do I miss the waterfront on their ships. Talk about a perfect spot to relax after dinner with friends and family. Kind of makes you realize that each line has different things they each do really well.
  13. Thanks for this! We are doing our first Oasis class cruise on Allure 40 days from today (Not that I am counting or anything 🙂 ) But I am glad to hear you were impressed with the food on her.
  14. We also love Celebrity. Just a couple of things to remember though. It is a completely different vibe on Celebrity ships. If you are looking for crazy pool parties, belly flop contests...that kind of thing you will not find it on Celebrity. What you will find is a very laid back relaxing cruise with better food and service than Royal (In our opinion). And there are a lot more indoor viewing areas than on Royal mega ships. The sky lounge on Celebrity Solstice class ships is amazing. With expansive views and great drink service. Solstice class ships also have real grass on the upper deck of the ship. Sail away at the Sunset Bar on that class of ship is amazing. As you can tell we REALLY love Solstice class ships. Edge class ships give you more free dining options than Solstice class. But are quirky in our opinion. Give them a try. There really isnt a ton of stuff to dislike.
  15. We did a pre drydock on Carnival Destiny (which then became Sunshine after the drydock) and it was a nightmare. Worst cruise of our lives and it actually ended our cruising relationship with Carnival. Bars and public spaces being torn apart, carpets being torn up, Deck chairs locked away and guests not allowed to use them, staff that didnt really seem to care about anything and worst of all painting parts of the ship that had the most toxic smell I have ever been exposed too. That is what really set us off. The staff painting with this stuff were wearing respirators. The guests? Nope. Now I have never done a pre drydock with Royal. But I would never book another one with any line.
  16. While I am kind of with you on the value of the UDP. Oceania cruises are roughly THREE TIMES as expensive as RCL cruises. So while your specialty dining may well be included in your fare. You are paying way more money before you even think about boarding the ship.
  17. Our past few cruises have all been on Celebrity. We really love the atmosphere of their product. We are Sailing Allure next month just because we both wanted to try an Oasis class cruise. We will probably end up back on Celebrity ships after this one again.
  18. We are on Allure in October and dont like hearing some of the comments about poor food and long lines for MTD. I thought I read that there were two lines for MTD. Those with reservations and those without?
  19. Dont want to hijack this thread but what about booking show reservations after boarding. We are doing our first Oasis class cruise next month and never had to make show reservations in the past. Can they be booked in the entertainment section oft he app?
  20. Nope. Barefoot. My wife hates it. 🙂 But that is just me. I live in tevas basically 9 months per year. So if you ever see a guy dressed up in nice clothes and tevas while cruising. It is probably me.
  21. I still take one pair of dress pants and one dress shirt with me on every cruise. I did ditch the tie a long time ago though. I also wear nice shorts and a polo every night we go to the MDR. But then I wear tevas on my feet. 🙂

  23. I thought they had a separate security line for those with the Key? I will be interested to hear your thoughts throughout the week on the Key. We have it for a cruise on Allure in October.
