I am with you if you are on Allure. I think we are good. Testing should be done by then IMO.

Yet people are still getting covid on every single cruise. How is it doing its job exactly.

There are covid cases on every single cruise right now. Clearly testing has not been effective at all.

Was hoping the testing mandates would be gone by my October cruise. But whatever. It is what it is at this point. If we fail the test we will spend the week and our money in Miami. And have a free cruise credit to use in the future. Royal needs to end testing. It does absolutely nothing.

Us too, two weeks later. First time on an Oasis class and also our first ever Halloween cruise.

Either way. Where is the immunity? I have no doubt that what they injected us with has helped decrease the severity of disease. The death numbers alone prove it. But what it is not is a vaccine by definition.

Just curious you say you gambled and lost. What did you lose? I am fully vaxed and have had covid twice. It is an endemic illness at this point. Losing would be not going on vacation at all over what you yourself say is a cold with mild symptoms. The testing needs to end. It does nothing to prevent illness on the ship. Every single cruise is coming home with a percentage of those who traveled positive at this point.

I will second the Celebrity recommendations. Especially if you are a drinker. By the time you add the drink package to a Royal cruise you are right there in price with a Celebrity cruise. We have cruised all of the lines except Disney and Viking. I liked them all. But Celebrity does it best for us. Less kids and a bit more upscale. Even so we are doing our first Oasis class on Allure in October. So we are not loyal to any single line.

We had this happen on our second ever cruise. Booked an OV guarantee and were over the anchor chain. Never booked a guarantee cabin again.

Only other thing I would add to this is it also depends on your ports. I am on an October cruise that will stop in both Labadee and Coco. And the drink package transfers to both of those ports. So you wont be spending an extra dime in those ports at all.

My best was a 10 nighter on Celebrity Eclipse in Alaska. Thought I would hate the weather. But we never saw a drop of rain for the 14 days were in Vancouver and Alaska. It was absolutely stunning.

Sorry to hear about your illness. The one positive to all of this is that the vaccines work in preventing serious illness and death. Covid is not going anywhere. It is now an endemic disease that we will have to live with. Everyone needs to make their own decisions about risk. But being vaccinated I will not cancel my future cruises. At least I know if I contract the disease the risk of serious illness is extremely low. Hope you feel better soon.

I would prefer them to cut room staff and make them servers in all honesty. I can live without my room being made up every single day. But I cant stand poor restaurant service.

We bought the drink package for our upcoming cruise on Allure in October. The main reason we did is because this cruise goes to both Labadee and CoCo. And our package will work in both ports. We also got it on sale for a decent price. Just under $1000 for the two of us for the week. With the 7 nights and the 2 ports we will make our money back. We have been Celebrity cruisers almost exclusively for the past decade. But we wanted to try one of the Oasis class ships. And this cruise including the beverage package was less than a comparable 7 nighter in October with Celebrity.
