  2. It's crazy. I'm in Dallas and the local news was at Love Field yesterday, the media shots of the luggage carousel was insane. Luggage piled on top of each other with more luggage piled throughout the entire floor space. I mentioned this in another thread but DS had the first flight out of Omaha on Thursday so I thought we were set. Crew was there, plane was there. Pilot, not so much. He was coming in from Denver and those flights were canceled due to inability to de-ice the planes. SW called upon a local SW pilot and he graciously flew the flight to Dallas, then FL with a final stop at BWI, which ended up canceled. All this to say I know they really do everything they can but it's a huge domino effect that is going to take time to sort. Feel terrible for everyone caught in the crosshairs and consider myself lucky DS made it here at all.
  3. Will chime in as a person who has actually used it, yes, it works. Great for texting and if you need to make a phone call (we own a business so contact with home-base is a must). Worth the $100 which is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
  4. That's what I thought too, until your realize your pilot is coming in from another flight on the same morning. Happened to DS last week. Supposed to leave first flight out of Omaha, plane was there, crew was there. But where was the pilot? Stranded in Denver, couldn't de-ice the plane. Luckily SW contacted a local pilot who graciously came to the airport and flew them to Dallas, had he not done that, he wouldn't have made it here (at least not on that day).

  7. I'm definitely feeling this post. People were acting like the ship was their dang personal space on our last cruise. DH and I were in the pub on a port day listening to a musician and in walked a mother and daughter who had ZERO read on the space. Daughter was young enough for me to question her age and was behaving wasted, literally shouting her words over the music. We didn't say anything but everyone in the pub kept looking at them because they were obnoxiously loud. Take note, it's 4pm not 9pm. Anyway, as drunk daughter and mother are leaving the pub she did one last enormous shout passing by our table and DH said, "ouch!" due to a busted ear drum, just a natural reaction. Mom comes back in, told us not to tell her daughter to "shut up" (which we didn't) and told us to "*duck off, we're on a SHIP!" I guess she meant they can do whatever they want and the entire pub just needs to deal? Lovely people who have zero read on THEIR actions because it's THEIR vacation. I didn't bother to remind her it's my vacation too since you can't reason when they're three sheets to the wind. Class all the way!
  8. FYI, we just use the Royal Caribbean app which has the digital copy of your set sail pass, one less thing to carry πŸ™‚
  9. We were in a Jr Suite and moved to the 1 bedroom spacious aqua suite.
  10. The spacious aqua suite also wasn't showing as available for my upcoming cruise on Allure, but low and behold I won my bid today. Keep in mind people have to cancel for a myriad of reasons, don't just rely on what the rccl.com site shows as available.
  11. I'm glad to hear this - when it first came out some years ago it was free, then this last cruise found out it wasn't, which irked me.
  12. We're on Allure for the NYE cruise πŸŽ‰ Does the balcony have nice seating? I noticed some are very narrow, others more spacious.
  13. Found out this morning we were upgraded to 11730, I'm pretty excited as we've never sailed in this class of suite before. For those that have sailed in this type of room, can you link to your review (if you created one) or share any pics? I'm super excited and with this being DS's first cruise (15yo) I think it'll be pretty neat to see the Aqua Theater from the room πŸ˜€
  14. Just consider the vast majority of those who have a nack for complaining STILL go on their cruise and keep booking more πŸ˜‰ It'd take something pretty major to actually ruin a cruise for us, but we're pretty easy going, and any day on water beats the office. Enjoy your trip!

  16. Ahhhh, chocolate buffet memories. Midnight buffet memories. Last time I experienced that were my first 2 cruises on Sovereign ❀️ I thought the ice and fruit sculptures were so neat, too.
  17. Same, just leave extra towels and I'm set. Quite frankly, I hate thinking someone is waiting for me to leave to do service twice. I can't take the pressure 🫠
  18. I always bring a small medicine cabinet with me when we cruise to include cold/flu meds, lozenges, etc. DH developed a cold toward the end of our Harmony cruise, his cleared up in a week. I got it soon after, turned into 2+ weeks of recovery due to sinus infection. What I can tell you is during our wait to disembark a ton of people were coughing in the theater, it's just that time of year. SO, be sure to bring the necessary stuff just in case. If you suspect sinus infection, I would assume the doc on board has antibiotics if needed. Enjoy your cruise!
  19. Ooooh, can you elaborate on this one? Usually we go down the night before, stay at a hotel and book a "cruise" package where the hotel shuttles us to the port and picks us up after. I've only parked at Galveston once and that was a few years ago. BUT, I was considering parking so we can disembark and leave early once off the ship...very interested to know what's up with the terminal/parking situation. Lastly, have you noticed any refurbishments/updates on this ship at all?
  20. I got the same message for our Harmony cruise a couple weeks ago, I deciphered it to mean I might get upgraded only if someone didn't show up. Boat was nearly at capacity and I got my rejection letter as we were setting sail lol
  21. I'm so sorry that was your experience and I'd also be upset if I was unable to book any shows/entertainment, or specialty restaurants, those items are things to look forward to for sure. What's interesting is I was on Harmony a couple weeks ago and they didn't even have anyone checking reservations for the Aqua Show... people just showed up and found a seat or stood.
  22. When we were on Harmony a couple weeks ago DH and I just used the shuttle through RC. It was offered on the app for $15.95/pp. They'll schedule you based on your flight time, and we did self assist disembarkation just so we didn't have to shuffle through luggage.
  23. So would a roku stick + remote work on the ships TV? I should have looked last week but didn't think of it.
  24. On Harmony last week and they did not supply hand sanitizer in cabin, but they did leave 2 masks.
