Had a look this morning. As expected, nothing of interest to me on Aurora or Arcadia...

Pleased to say that most of things you miss were there in abundance on Aurora in August. That's not to say it was a perfect but very good in most ways.

Hi everyone. It's been a somewhat busy couple of months or so for me with my Norway cruise and 2½ weeks in Spain plus two trips to Leicestershire in between for a funeral and then a birthday party. Things are now calming down although I have two friends staying with me at the moment whilst their (adult) daughter has major neurosurgery at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. I'll try and get around to doing a proper report of my Aurora cruise in the next couple of weeks before I have to get my kitchen cleared ready to have it replaced. Also awaiting delivery of my new car, which is exciting and scary as my 12 year old Corsa is pre-everything being electronic/tech driven! Hope everyone has stayed reasonably well. Don't think I've got time to do a lot of catching up...

Hi all, Just back today from 12 nights aboard the lovely Aurora to Norway. Will do a more detailed report but had a really good cruise. Embarkation was a breeze, entertainment great, food fine, Aurora in good fettle and disembarkation a doddle. First washing already in the machine...

I've never heard of a hotel with a shuttle service. Most of them that do parking packages provide a private taxi service.

Also, as has been said before, on Arvia there are only two mdr's as opposed to four on Iona. I should think this will definitely have some effect...

Maybe they're using the jacuzzi instead of having a shower...😱

It is very Floridian Barbara. Can be just a balcony or patio but is often covered or glassed-in to provide a garden room. I first came across the word in the American tv comedy, Golden Girls, where they would often go and sit on the Lanai...😊

Latterly, the cabins with doors onto the Promenade were renamed "Lanai Staterooms" by HAL. Obviously a very American terminology.

Thanks for sharing. Pleased for you that you managed to go through the Keil Canal. I've tried to do it three times with Fred. One cancellation due to the Pandemic Pause, another because they sold Boudicca and replaced her with Bolette which is too large for the canal. Then a third because for no apparent reason, Fred cancelled our Balmoral Cruise to Holland, Germany and Scandinavia replacing it with a Round Britain Itinerary!

If they did half price for solos I might get interested...

Unfortunately they still seem to have Norovirus aboard Barbara. Embarkation delayed by 2 hours in Liverpool tomorrow for more cleaning.

I have got a second Ambassador cruise booked for later this year. Sadly however, I am not confident enough to recommend them to a friend yet...

This doesn't have a bearing on your rather strange experience but on my one (so far) cruise with Ambassador, I asked my cabin attendant to let me have extra milk sachets and thereafter she kept me very well supplied. I appreciate that you didn't really get to see your cabin attendant...

You'll have to check with the 3rd parties concerned but most decent tour companies will refund any monies paid if your ship doesn't dock due to weather issues...

Yes, Dover is pretty dour... There are however same nice places places in Kent, such as Canterbury, Whitstable and Rochester - which has a Castle and Cathedral plus (in neighbouring Chatham) the Historic Dockyard museum. There are also some great National Trust properties like Knole, Ightham Mote, Sissinghurst and Bodiam Castle.

Aurora is missing out Skagen and Copenhagen due to expected high winds, so that may be why Iona is missing Stavanger...
