  1. The answer is that it is very easy.

I would be one of the last off the first ship. I say this so you can then take your luggage from the first ship over to the next ship and drop it off. You can easily do this around 9:30 AM and sometimes sooner.

Then you have a few choices. You can take a taxi across the bridge over to the CVS which is located a few doors down from the Holiday Inn Bayside hotel. They have wine there and other related items. You can then get a taxi back from the Holiday Inn over to the port. Each drive 10 minutes or less.

Or if you want you can walk one or both ways if you are not picking up a lot of items. You can use a back pack etc. or you could do this one way and a taxi the other way.

The walk is just about a mile or a mile and a quarter. But the taxi is very easy and would be about $10.00 each way before tip.

You'll have plenty of time to do this and be back on the other ship in term for the start of embarkation.

Well we did decide on the Jan 4 Conquest, followed by the Jan 11 Breeze. It's not a problem to walk from one ship to the next?

    Thanks much, again!

  2. Plan to schlep your luggage, there is zero help.

The tri rail stations do not go from FLL to MIA you have to transfer.

The tri rail after dark? No. Take a shuttle.

The stations are in really bad parts of town.

Day before yesterday the tri rail station was closed due to a car jacker in the area that murdered someone.

Thank you for the info. I will scratch that silly idea from my list of possibilities.

  3. I've found the website and have seen the schedule for the tri rail, but can't find the cost. Wanting to go from FLL to MIA airports. I understand needing to handle your own luggage is important, but once on the rail, what do you do with your luggage? Overhead compartments? How safe is it at 6 PM on a Saturday evening for 3 women traveling together?

Does it actually pick up and drop off at the airports or is it just "near by".

    Thanks much

    :)

    Thank you! Very encouraging info

  5. We are booked on the Breeze of Jan 11, and we are seriously considering booking either the cruise before or the Conquest Jan 4-11. My questions are, if we book two different ships, how difficult is it to get to the next ship? And no matter which cruise we choose, how easy is it to run to the store for a few items, like wine?

    Thanks much :}

  6. Ok… original plan was renting the car in FLL for a week, drive to Miami, park at the port, drive back after cruise. Price would be $ 248 for week rental + $ 120 park in the port = $ 368.

All this changed when we got to the Dollar counter at FLL. The nice guy said there is no reason to keep the car for a week if we can just rent for one day before the cruise and for one day after cruise. My reason for the original plan was that we don’t have to deal with transfers, waiting for the shuttle buses. I was willing to pay extra for convenience while traveling with two kids (6 & 13) and one suites case and 3 carry ones. Well… my husband wanted to change this plan and go with what counter guy at Dollar suggested. So here what we did.

    Before cruise FLL to MIA

Picked up at car at FLL for a day $ 61. Drove to Miami (about 40 min with no traffic) then another 45 min to Shark Valley (Everglades) for tram tours. Unfortunately, tour was in the late afternoon and we only saw 1 alligator. Seems they come out of the water during winter months because water colder and air warmer. Back to the MIA area to Marriot Residence Inn. Very nice. We had 2 bedroom suite. Very comfy and great breakfast. Wish we stayed longer. We also made a reservation for the car after cruise while in the hotel (so week in advance). Next morning dropped off car in MIA airport and picked up shuttle to the cruise port. No wait at all. Shuttle only about 10 min. At cruise port around 10 am

After cruise (flew home the same day) MIA to FLL

Shuttle picked us up (waited around 15 min). Picked up the car around 10am. Cost $ 51 for a day. Drove to FLL about 30 min right to Everglades again. This time to Everglades Holiday park for airboat tour. This went better as we saw 3 alligators swimming in the water. A little show after the boat ride. About 2.5 hours here. Then drove another 30 min FLL airport. Dropped the car. Plane left without delay at 5.30 to EWR.

    So original plan $ 368

    Actually rental $ 112

No problem with Dollar shuttle busses, waiting time.

Good info to know. I am considering the same plan, but was unsure of where to drop off car in Miami. To be clear, Dollar Rental, provided shuttles to and from Miami airport?

    Thank much

  7. Considering using one of the travel sites that offer "mystery" hotels. Have used them many times and always have had a great hotel. I need a room in Ft Lauderdale, but am unsure of which "area" I need to look at.

A few years back I ended up with Hyatt Convention Center, but I'm not seeing any "convention center" area to select.

For the life of me, I don't remember how we got to the ship, but I do know the hotel offered transportation from the airport.

    Thanks much

  8. You're right! :) Whatever time share company is part of the deal is the one that sells time shares. The offer you get for going is through NCL. I saw the letter my parents received. It was from NCL, on NCL letterhead, NCL return address...granted, I didn't call them personally, my mom did. She is well aware of what will go on at the presentation as well.

All I was trying to do was let the OP know my experience with the info they got in the mail. That's all. :)

And you did help me, thank you so much.

  9. My parents just got one of these in the mail from NCL, with an NCL return address and phone number. My mom called yesterday. They have to go to a 90 minute information session on time shares, with no obligation to buy, and then they will be given the voucher for the free cruise AND airfare.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Where is the time share presentation?

I dont think any reward is ever worth a "time share presentation". The one and only time I attended one, we were passed off to another sales person so many times, we were there for hours. We finally were "allowed" to leave after the sales person told my husband I was being rude.... it was leave or it was going to get really ugly.

Good luck to your parents if they attend.

  10. Received, in the mail, a letter/certificate for a free 7 night cruise, is this legit? Normally, I would think "no way, too good to be true" but last spring, there were many on the Carnival boards talking about how they received offers of free cruises, only had to pay taxes.

Plan to call the number in the morning, when my brain is fresh.
