  1. I can use my on board credit to purchase cheers as soon as I bored the ship, right?

I just want to make sure since I plan on using the obc and paying for the remainder with Verizon/carnival gift cards.

Please tell me more about the Verizon/Carnival gift cards?

  2. Are there any positive reviews for Carnival Sunshine? I am starting to wonder if I made a very bad decision when booking this cruise. There are so many negative reviews. Has anyone been on the Sunshine that actually enjoyed it? My family is booked in cabins 5341, 5343 and 5347. From the sounds of things is going to be very smelly and noisy. I really hope this isn't the case. It will be some of our family members first cruise and I would hate for them to have a miserable time.

Also on the repo cruise. Deck 5 rooms are brand new and very nice. We were in 5353 (the rooms that go the other direction, there are 4 of them) the largest inside room I've ever had.

We did wait for the comedy club, but that is because we wanted to. We would try to be in line 20-30 mins before show time and always had a good seat.

Overall the ship is too small for my liking, but it is beautiful. As for the smell, others were complaining, but I never really noticed it.

  3. I think I just read that the Serenity area on Sunshine is mere yards away from the waterworks, and that children are easily heard.

Hope you're sailing while school is in session, so they're be fewer kids.

Someone correct me if I am incorrect.

Not close to the waterworks, but very close to the main pool area. The first 2 decks are not quiet.

I can handle noise, but hate the chair hogs.

  4. Hi, we just got off of the Sunshine this week. While on the ship, we mentioned that we really wanted to do the Carnival Splendor, NY to San Juan and San Juan to Miami. Was told there is a law that prevents us from doing that particular back to back cruise. Can someone enlighten me, please?

  5.

Early dining is the most desired and the most difficult to get. Anytime dining is the next most popular and late dining is the least popular.

Late seating is what we are waitlisted for. Anytime is what we currently have. No worries, I'm sure we wont go hungry! :p

    Thanks,

    Robin

  6. We are currently still "waitlisted" for our request of dining preference. We sail in just over 3 weeks, at what point should I give up hope? Will Carnival notify me, if they can grant my request? Or even if they can't?

    Thanks much,

    Robin

  7. Not sure what price point you're looking for in wine, but there are two stores in the Quarter that will offer something better than a convenience store or CVS drugstore.

Vieux Carre' Wine & Spirits on Chartres St. is the closer one to your hotel. Sidney's Wine Cellar is further, on Decatur st, but you could stop for a pick-me-up and sugar fix at the Cafe Du Monde on your way.

There's also Keife and Company, about the same distance from your hotel as the other two above, but back towards Lee Circle.

Are any of these open on Sunday mornings?

  8. Other than Serenity (which is not very calming given the big screen going all the time) and the midship area of the Lido, there isn't much outdoor space. The entire aft area of the Lido is enclosed and has dark tinted windows, so it feels a bit dark and just doesn't have that come sit here for awhile. There are very few places to just sit and watch the ocean, though deck 3 does have loungers.

There ARE loungers on deck 3? That is exciting to me, as this is one of our favorite places in the afternoons.

  9. We got the free cabin offer.

We've been on three previous cruises, all Carnival.

Two have been booked through a travel agent, and one booked on the carnival website.

All three have been booked by me as the point of contact, however the free cabin offer came to my wife who although has her own Vifp # has never once logged into the carnival website.

Based off our experience and the reports of others that received the free cabin offers, they appear to be completely random. Im not seeing a pattern to any of the people that have mentioned they have also received the offer.

My husband has never logged into Carnivals site either, but I recently learned that doesn't mean he doesn't have offers. I mean so much here.

  10. Congrats to all of you who have received such a great offer. I have not, but have learned to pay better attention to my VIFP offers, and my husband's and the mail so if I do get the offer in the future I won't miss it.

I am wondering if those of you lucky ones, do you normally book with a TA or directly with Carnival?
