  1. I haven't been on Dawn but did buy spa passes for December cruise because that's what we enjoy. After investigating, it appears to have most of the amenities we find on Epic although perhaps on a smaller scale: heated loungers, hot tubs, pool, relaxation area, saunas, steam rooms, locker rooms.

Thank you. We had a spa cabin on another line, and I really enjoyed it. I guess now all I have to do is wait for it to become available to purchase. :)

  2. If there is a special menu for NYE, then it will likely not be included in your dining package. But I haven't seen any special occasion/holiday menus in specialty restaurants for Christmas or NYE. It has always just been the regular, everyday menu, so nothing special as far as the dining package is concerned. But reservations may be harder to get on those evenings.

The last time we had a special menu was for Valentine's Day at Le Bistro a couple years ago, and they actually let us use our UDP for that. But even if they hadn't, all the other specialty restaurants had their regular menu, so there would have been plenty of other choices for package holders to eat for no extra charge that evening.

Thank you for the explanation. I'm hoping to get a reservation for Cagneys, and plan to reserve that the minute its available on my vacation planner online. We love Cagneys and dont have any idea what they could possibly add to their menu to make it "special" as it is pretty special to us as it is.

I would hope that when I make my online reservation that I would be alerted to anything that is not the norm.

    I'm getting super excited!!!!

  3. We are pretty sure Fulton is where we would like to park for our cruise. I understand that they have cruise prices and hotel prices, at least I think that is what I understand. My question is how do we go about making a reservation for both hotel and cruise? We will be arriving 2 days before the cruise and I'd really like to park it once and forget about it.

    Thanks...... again :)

  4. Unfortunately my in-laws will not be joining us on our Alaskan cruise at the end of this week.

We booked them through CAS - phoned CAS 7 days ago - told them had to cancel the cruise - received an email while on the phone with the rep confirming the cancellation showing that the cancellation charges were the initial "admin fee" and the travel protection (total $638).

We had prepaid a fair number of things, the daily service charges, 2 excursions, a spa pass etc. on our credit card. After doing research on this board I was expecting to wait weeks to get this back. Checked my credit card statement on line today - the expected return posted to my credit card this morning. So not bad - cancelled 12 days out - expected refund posted 7 days later.

Hopefully you don't have to cancel a cruise - but this was my experience with refunds on prepaid "stuff".

We had to cancel a Carnival curise this spring, the day before sailing. Was also quite happy with the Carnival "stuff" being refunded and very happy with my travel insurance for the rest, including a flight from Texas to Ohio, that was not part of our original plan.

  5. Welcome to sailing during Hurricane season! Yes, if any changes are made, they will let you know. Unfortunately some route changes MAY have to be made while en route - it happened to a few Royal Caribbean ships last week that I know of.

I'm perfectly fine with changes in intinary. This cruise was a last minute descision and all we care about this time is getting on the ship and far, far, far away from "normal" life.

Truth be told, I'm more concerned/hopeful with the current cruise making it back to Miami on time. I know they will do what is best for the current passengers, as they should.

On our Getaway cruise, the Captain had decided that it was too risky due to tender to the private island (sorry, cant think of the name). I was stunned by the fellow passengers that were so mad and thought it was a stupid decision. I may look for good bargains, as we'd rather vacation a few times a year, but its still our money and along with a place to sleep, great food and entertainment, we are also paying someone (The Captain) to make good calls about our safety. I'm totally on board with whatever where ever we end up going and if we go on time.

If you are traveling this week to/from or on a cruise this week, stay dry!

  6. Just this morning, my father passed away. I sat in the Houston airport (we drove to Texas from Ohio, arriving yesterday. My husband is driving home, I flew). While waiting to board my plane I made that call to Carnival. The lady I spoke to was very nice and told me that my cheers package would be refunded to me upon cancelation. She explained that the taxes and port fees would be refunded. She told me the amount I'd be out.

She then asked if I was "OK" with these details. I am, because I have travel insurance from another company, but I got the feeling that if I had said "no" she would have been able to offer me a credit for future use.

So, to the OP, please just call and talk to guest service!!! Good luck to you and I"m sorry for your loss. Trust me, I'm feeling your pain.

  7. I understand that there are 3 docks in Key West, is there a particular one used by Carnival or is it anybody's guess where we will dock?

  8. This is what I've found, but never got a response when I emailed them. I will email again and see what happens.

I made an online reservation, no credit card required. Hopefully, I'll get the info I am looking for,

A week later, I"ve still not heard from this company. I think I'll give up on trying to make plans for this port.

  9. Wow! I was just starting to research this very thing. I'd love to hear from anyone who has ever rented bikes while in Freeport. Carnival has what looks to be a great excursion in Freeport, a bike tour, but I was wondering about just renting bikes on our own. Is it easy to bike around? Bike paths? Bike lanes? A map for a self-guided tour? Anyone out there who has done this?

  10. Freeport where the ships dock is not close to anything . The only thing near is a restaurant. The port is industrial and although the port has the usual tourist things , freeport itself is quite a way from the port

thank you. I suppose that once off the ship, I just need to follow the crowd to the nearest taxi? bus?
