  1. but will you remember the cruise.......;)

Yes, we will remember the cruise. We are not big drinkers, but do enjoy having a couple of drinks during the day and a couple more at the comedy clubs or maybe with dinner. We also like to have a coffee treat most days. I dont see myself ever reaching the 15 drink limit, but enjoy being able to unwind and do what I normally don't do at home during my vacation. My point really was, as much as we've enjoyed visiting an AI on port days, it makes more sense to just save the money, add it to the cost of cheers and enjoy the ship and all it does offer.

We recently sailed NCL with the drink package, and it was really quite nice to not have to think twice about ordering from the bar and Carnival's cheers package is actually a better deal, IMO.

  2. We love to cruise and we also love to not go broke doing it. With that said, we make plans to get the best bang for our buck. We've done day passes at resorts and currently have one booked in Nassua for our cruise in April.

After doing some basic math, I'm wondering why, why, why? I know we booked it as a "party" day, because alcohol is inculded. So we are going to spend $80 per person, for 5 hours of "fun", plus the cost of transportation to and from the resort. That works out to $16 per hour, or almost 1/3 of what it would cost us for the cheers program. Why do we think this is a bargain?

For $2.08 an hour, we can have 6 full days of fun, at our leisure, just by purchasing the cheers program. The new cheers program is looking better and better all the time, especially after you throw in a couple of coffees a day.

  3. I see that there are places to rent bikes in Freeport, but what I'm not seeing is if any of these places are near the cruise port. Is anyone within walking distance? I had sent an email to Lucaya Watersports and tours, with no response.:(

    Thanks much.

  4. Here you go. Not on this, but available are also milkshakes for $3.95 (I think Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry)

I've not been able to find confirmation or denial of milkshakes are included in the new cheers program. Might just be the selling point for my husband.

  5. What's wrong with Breezes? We've done a day pass there and then went back and stayed for the weekend. Here are links from my blog of the two visits, if you'd like to see some pictures.

No, it is not a fancy place but it is perfectly fine and fun for a day pass. I probably wouldn't want to go during spring break though. :)

Smurf, what are your hours in port? I would leave the resort a good hour and a half before your ship is supposed to leave. It's easiest to take a taxi but the bus is fine too, if you're not in a big hurry. The bus is a lot cheaper ($1.25 a person vs $15 for two people).

Thanks for the info. We get into Nassau pretty early, may do the bus to the resort and taxi back.

  6. I usually look at how many total reviews and what percentage is excellent and very good, compared to terrible. Looking at that, I'm not too concerned. The last several reviews were good. And the bad ones seen to be from spring break, which is crazy busy.

  7. We have booked Breezes for the day while in Nassau, what is the best way to get there? How much time should we allow for pour return to the ship?

    Thank you much:)

  8. I just booked a hotel for our December cruise out of New Orleans. $70 per night, plus taxes/fees, staying 2 nights. Hilton New Orleans Riverside!

Felt a little silly booking so far in advance, but I was afraid I'd I waited, I'd not get a good hotel at a fair price.

  9. We are booked at Gaido' s Seaside Inn. $119 for a Friday night, including breakfast and parking. I'm pretty sure there is no shuttle to the ship, but have read is about $12 each way. I booked directly with the hotel, have spoken to them twice and both times they were extremely nice and helpful. So nice that we added Thursday night too at $69

  10. We are booked at Gaido's precruise, I'm wondering what the route would be like if we wanted to drop off our luggage, return car to hotel and walk to the ship? I understand it is about 2.5 miles, the distance isnt an issue, major highways, busy roads without sidewalks, could be an issue.

    Thanks

  11. The best I do is 10% off with Verizon. Pay with a rewards CC and I get a total of 10.9-11.8% off, total. Might not seem like a high % but for two rooms plus gratuities on our upcoming cruise, about $400 savings.

These were not available yesterday. I've done this in the past and hoped to do it again.

  12. The main difference is that the UDP gives you unlimited meals in speciality restaurants. In theory, you could have multiple meals each night on your cruise.

Meanwhile, the SDP is for a specific number of meals. You can buy it for any number of meals from three to the number of nights your cruise has. If offered as a perk when booking it is for a stated number of meals (ie 4 meals on a 7 night cruise).

I believe there may be some other differences with regard to the additional costs for eating in some restaurants, or dinner shows, but they are more to do with what the specific terms were at the time of purchase.

Thank you. I'm pretty sure on my Getaway cruise last month, my sign and sail card was labled "udp4", I knew I was getting just 4 visits to specilaty dining. I didnt realize (at some point in time) NCL offered something unlimited.
