Some cruise lines bribe customers like that, others let the brand speak for itself. In the case of Royal the program is not to keep people coming back but to try to keep people from trying a superior cruise line. Given the differences in programs, it is obviously is not one size fits all justification for a program. -

We were on the Carnival Glory (sister ship to Valor), TA this spring. We flew to Barcelona twice this year. No issues, but I can understand a little apprehension. We used Welcome Pickups to get from the airport to the hotels and again to the port. -

People who live in states without an income tax may think they are getting away with something, but the state isn't printing money. They are collecting t elsewhere. I prefer not to subsidize others largesse. There is no envy. -

I'll say it again. No loyalty program is sustainable without change. NO, they can't give away more than the ship has. Period. -

Yep. As in they aren't going to get in a bidding war for customers. There are many types of profit including short, medium, long term. Maximizing short term profit isn't long term planning. No loyalty program is sustainable without change, and not in the perk seeker's interest.
