  1. Happy thanksgiving! I think we can use more than one. DH had a Harley do that was fun. But we did get the looks Prayers for Israel. I can’t find the thread @RMLincolnsorry you were so triggered. Group work can make things surface and good they had someone to be with you. Hope things resolve We have visited Split a couple of times so last time we went to Trogir which was highly recommended by my Croatian dentist.
  2. Just checking in and oh my. We were supposed to be on the Nieuw Statendsm right now. We had to cancel and reschedule to next year. bon voyage to @kazu @0106@St Pete Cruiser @sailingdutchy such lovely photos So nice to see lovely lady A. We are enjoying glorious low twenties fall weather. We have enjoyed visiting Skye
  3. Bon voyage. I am So hoping third time lucky. The book club is a fabulous idea. I read the hiding place ages ago. So looking forward to traveling with you vicariously. Your hotel looks lovely
  4. Columbia has some water repellent pants that look very nice. Also goretex footwear and jackets are a good idea.
  5. Sorry I’m so late to the thread! I’m glad you’re safely in Amsterdam! The Banks hotel looks awesome and that lounge menu, I’d try the Rose Champagne on the way back if you can. Yum! Is the signature lounge just for international? We had a very nice one in Vancouver when we went to Japan, with a chef. Loved your menu! wishing you a fabulous trip!
  6. Sorry, cut off mid post! @0106 yikes on the cancellation, but glad you got another flight in PE! Safe travels! @marshhawkglad you liked the photo of the springs, it’s A lovely spot. @AroundWithMAPTravels welcome! Love your name and maps! @St Pete Cruiser safe travels! Sometimes smaller airports are nice! My DH loves the Greek frappes, pretty much just instant Nescafé We have enjoyed Nice on several trips and are fortunate to have friends there.
  7. Happy birthday Vanessa! Wishing you a great year! Happy anniversary Terri! @Smmessineo welcome!
  8. My two cents, we throughly enjoyed Meteora which is possible to get to from Volos. But Volos area was affected by the terrible recent floods so it may depend on the timing of your cruise. We also enjoyed Paros and have spent several days on that island. It’s nice to see an island that is a little less touristy IMO. I agree with @cruisemom42 Regarding the factory tours! Quelle surprise! Nothing like seeing a Fashion show instead of the sights! @budmeister if that truly was silk it would have been a great deal.
  9. Good morning and thanks all! @kazu safe travels!, @Cruzin Terri happy 42 anniversary tomorrow! @smitty34877 such a nice photo, memories are so bittersweet! @Seasick Sailorhope you’re ok today! Echoing the call for help, we’re not spring chickens any more, sadly. @Quartzsite Cruiser glad the er docs were happy, hope you can catch up on your rest today! Shimizu is a great port for views of Mount Fuji, some lovely tea grown there and a stunning temple with a cable car to get there.
  10. We too prefer king or queen, double matrimonial size bed in Italy works as well. It’s larger than a North American double, more like a queen. My only concern for you is that I have heard of numerous last minute cancellations for people who book early at an air B and B type place. You are at the mercy of the third party. My preference is to book directly or with a well vetted booking company. Research carefully to see they are legit reviews.
  11. Yikes! Hope it all healed well! I guess mine would be the time I had to take a taxi to Naples and back from Salerno for an ultrasound to the tune of several hundred euros, had to pay both taxis for double. Thank goodness for great insurance or when the ATM aborted our transaction and our bank thought we had the 600 euros we didn’t get and we needed to get the carabinieri involved. Thank goodness for google translate. Or when the fire in the Rome airport resulted in all flights cancelled and we had to pay 700 euros for a domestic Italian flight on Ryanair. But renting a Ferrari made it all worth while😂🤷‍♀️ always a silver lining with good Insurance!
  12. We just carry valuables, passport and credit cards and most cash in money belts under our clothes. This way we don’t worry too much.
  13. Good morning and thanks all! @lindaler Bon voyage! How exciting! @Quartzsite Cruiser prayers for a quick resolution! I’m not sure about those peppers, but the Mac and cheese sounds good. We hope to visit Brisbane as we have cruise friends there!
  14. I don’t do raw fish and had no issues. Udons, ramens, gyoza, great chicken yakitori, wagyu beef.. Also really do try the 7-11 for great sandwiches. Egg salad, and my favourite Katsu chicken are wonderful. And if you get to Hiroshima try the okonomiyaki, wonderful! The best is in the train station and they are famous for it, It’s a crepe, topped with bean sprouts, vegetables, eggs and your choice of meat. They are incredible and they cooks them in front of you on a teppanyaki type grill. Photo is the last one. You’re in for a treat! Amazing fruit, and ice cream in wisteria flavour among others! Kit Kats in a ton of flavours! I liked the green tea and raspberry ones.
  15. @Quartzsite Cruiser so happy that you are seeing glimmers of good things. Like Carolyn said, I understand as well, when you’ve been through something life changing you’re never sure. So it’s wonderful to be open to the possibilities! Also understand about being cautious, wishing you and Steve all the best! @Cruising-along agree that one can use that other place in a private way! @marshhawk yes, sometimes too much information can be shared. @StLouisCruisers my prayers for Scott as well, how scary! I have to add rabbit rabbit rabbit!
  16. Personally, I would never stay near Termini again, Nice hotel but felt very uncomfortable walking in that area. Plus it’s not near the touristy areas. We love staying near campo di Fiori.
  17. My two cents, carry your Valuables in a money belt under your clothes. Also avoid restaurants with touts, and multiple language menus with photos outside.
  18. We love the Greek islands. Rhodes is one of our favourites, a beautiful town that is easy to access, interesting sites, good food and beaches. We love Crete as well but prefer to stay there as there is so much to see. But Chania, and Aghios Nikolas are lovely towns. Heraklion allows for a visit to Knossos. Approaching Santorini from the sea, the first time is sublime. Unfortunately it suffers from far too many visitors so you may wish to check how many ships will be in port. Mykonos is not a favourite, and is often missed due to high winds in summer. It is extremely expensive and over touristy IMO. It does allow for a visit to Delos if the water is calm. We would search out any different ports, Argostoli for one. We have also enjoyed multiple visits to Corfu. So it depends what you want to see and do.
  19. Lol! My DH likes the pocket one that attaches to his belt. Can’t be seen unlike the strings on the neck one. He uses one like this.
  20. Good day and thanks all! @Quartzsite Cruiser glad to hear your DH is going home, it’s always easier to recover at home. Wishing him a speedy and good recovery! @HAL Sailer I am so sorry to hear your news! Hoping your DH can recover well! @smitty34877 oh no on the flooding! It’s ok to say some naughty things, we have to get out those emotions too! @marshhawk wise words on caretaking! For sure it affects both partners, and sometimes it’s harder to watch. @rafinmd Bon voyage! @ger_77for give me, you made me giggle with your description, I’m really glad you’re ok! We spent ten days in Anchorage, a lovely place with amazing food!
  21. This is exciting news for me. Our very first cruise to Alaska they loaded on the fresh halibut and salmon and had a barbecue on board. Aw the good old days🤷‍♀️ I will look forward to trying the Morimoto dishes, but I will eat my lobster with just butter and lemon! Speaking of mussels, we have had some of the best in Bruges and France but the absolute best we’re in Newfoundland! Cheap fresh and delicious! And we’ve enjoyed them in Italy
