  1. ya know if ya just google it about a half dozen places pop up ... at lease one is PADI 5 star a couple have trip advisor reviews (if you trust those)
  2. https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/hotel/florida/hyatt-regency-orlando-international-airport/orlan?src=corp_lclb_gmb_seo_orlan only hotel IN the airport ....
  3. I guess the NAVY was/is wrong with their list of surge protectors approved for shipboard use ....
  4. Only thing I know sailing from Palm Beach is the old Carnival ship rebranded AGAIN (was Paradise Cruise Lines last year) now sailing as Margaritaville ...... already closed once by CG for safety issues and now offering free rides to military and first responders trying to get folks on board ..... do yourself a favor. They go to Freeport ..... ugh.
  5. at PC Enterprise/National/Alamo share an office on port property then just outside - maybe a mile is Budget and a lil further Dollar/Thrifty & AVIS across the street. ++++++++++ in Miami I'd just use the airport location as the offices are large .... there are some downtown rental offices a lil closer to the piers but they are smaller and can be crowded/slow There it is straight up 95 ..... Friday morning traffic can be a bear til you get past Palm Beach .. it will be moving FAST unless there's an accident.
  6. according to the posted port schedule MSC will be at 10 and Har' at 1 ... these are on opposite sides of the bridge (no foot traffic) ..... I'm not aware of any new shuttle service .... just take a taxi ... it won't be much OR install UBER & LYFT on you phone and learn .... but the ride is so short your savings won't be over a dollar . . .
  7. this a picture of a power strip which had been used on a ship ..... it was NOT ship safe ..... the electrical system of a ship is a wee bit different from your house. I'll not go into details but simply show this picture as evidence 'it matters' .... the problem comes from the 'surge protector' .. some are OK with ship systems and some are NOT... had a ship fire for this very reason during my time as Captain ..... fortunately we caught it fast and found WHO was responsible for using it . . .
  8. current discussion same topic
  9. https://parkncruiseportcanaveral.com/ or https://www.parkportcanaveral.com/ both nearly same distance ... which costs less is 'dynamic' but always less than the port lot
  10. the Hyatt in the airport usually does day rooms ...... if you just want to crash ... they have a nice rooftop pool too . . . easy to get food from their rest' or any of the places in the airport's main food court.
  11. don't write off Grills in the port ..... if some of the food is too 'ordinary' the view MORE than makes up for it. We prefer Grills to the other port spots as more of the food is grilled and not fried as is the case with many beach fish places ..... https://www.grillsseafood.com/ fresh lion fish anyone? ... quite tasty - not always available - bought from local divers ..... a very mild flaky white fish .... Grills does an appetizer or dinner, with teriyaki glaze. (perfectly safe to eat ... the danger is in the top spines which as you can see are cut off <before cooking>) https://www.grillsseafood.com/lionfish-invasion/ >>>> Fat Snook is one of those 'special dinner' places ..... Emeril visited!
  12. we recently booked our second cruise to the area, not long ago did and have done Oslo <> Bergen twice by train once routing thru FLAM <Norway in a Nutshell> looking forward to visiting the northern most city with over 1000 perm' residents . . . not sure why we stay overnight . . . but I digress . . .
  13. 528 > 417 > I-4 anything else just adds time and hassle. I live in the port area and daughter had to see a dr in St Pete regularly for a couple of years ... made this drive way too often .... the big I-4 messes usually happened from the Disney area north thru the construction of the big expansion. MOST of that construction is done and the associated backups gone . . . but I still like 417 to stay away from the 528/I-4 junction . . .
  14. we spent a few day in Hamburg before boarding QM2 an enjoyed the city A BUNCH for us ... Miniature Wonderland alone was worth the trip .... we'd planned to spend a couple of hours and after FIVE pulled ourselves away. It IS amazing .... https://www.miniatur-wunderland.de/ But I admit we've never been to F' or M' ....... spent a few days in Regensburg . . .
  15. #3 to agree ...... to do the statue with no stress is a full day (you get Ellis Island too)
  16. maybe I should ask what your definition of GOOD is .......
  17. there are a number of places along 'Glen Cheek Drive' at the port ... two have been mentioned .... I prefer GRILLS but really there's nearly a dozen to choose from. editorial comment .... recently OASIS has been using a terminal on the NORTH side of the port and the 'entertainment' is on the SOUTH side and walking is NOT ALLOWED. So a short taxi/UBER/LYFT should be planned for as there is no 'free ride' Airboats: https://www.airboatridesatmidway.com/ http://www.twisterairboatrides.com/ >>>>>>>>>>>>>> there is no 'local seafood' there is very very little commercial fishing from PC anymore ..... a little crabbing in the river but everything else you get is frozen . . . which - having monitored the industry - is BETTER.
  18. there is no shuttle ... walking is POSSIBLE but not something planned for (you can use Google Maps and 'walk it' virtually.) You are looking at a taxi which will NOT enjoy the short ride so mention a BIG TIP up front . . . <my recommendation>
  19. 1. Will you have a car? This area is not strong on public transportation. I'm answering with the assumption you'll have a car. 2. Kennedy visitor center is our most popular attraction and I think it will easily fill a day. 3. You are only an hour from Disney and Universal parks ..... they are of course not inexpensive altho there is no charge to visit Disney Springs shopping and entertainment area. 4. Brevard Zoo does get positive reviews from most - it was even on a 20 best in US list recently - but probably not a full day thing as not really that large. <I worked there for several years driving the choo choo train> 5. The area is of course blessed with beaches. from the port and Jetty Park to Sebastion Inlet is a 40 mile unbroken beach. From the port thru the Cocoa Beach area the beach tends to be 'busier' as here you'll find areas with concessions and depending on time of the year, lifeguards. Get south to the Patrick Air/Space Force base area and the beach are MUCH LESS crowded and at south end of Patrick (east end of SR-404) you may walk half a mile and see only one or two others . . . Melbourne beaches are less crowded then Cocoa as well. 6. There some really nice hotels on the beach in Melbourne Beach .... like DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Melbourne Beach Oceanfront . Or how about a super nice B&B: https://www.windemereinn.com/ 7. Back to Cocoa: eco tourism is strong and you can find places with airboat rides into the St John's river area <alligator>, kayak tours thru the mangrove areas of the barrier islands <manatee and dolphin>. and boat tours for nature spotting https://www.cocoabeachdolphintours.com/ 8. And don't forget the popular dining spots in the port like that should give you a start!
  20. technical .... the SPLAT bug is acidic ........ which is why no other 'creature' wants to eat them ..... but the acidic residue will eat into your 'paint'
