  1. Yes they will be cancelled. In the future you can sometimes have the flights transferred over to the new booking - if you get the right person on the phone.
  2. If you are riding around on a bus it should be simple enough to carry an extra pair of shoes to use at the designated location.
  3. I don’t think those $1 were refundable. I cancelled one and was told I would not get my $1 returned. Yes, even a dollar of non-refundable money excludes you from the insurance unless you bought it at time of deposit
  4. It is not because of our tendency it is because our laws allow contingency litigation. Contingency litigation is not common anywhere else. I don’t see that this affects this situation because if you file suit in another country you must follow the law of that country.
  5. Was your cruise a non-refundable deposit? When I tried to add the plan for my sister I was told I could not as it was a non-refundable deposit and must be purchased at time of the deposit.
  6. So I have learned but it still holds that insurance only covers for a monetary loss. To be compensated for pain and suffering or other less tangible losses one must either rely on the courts or the kindness of corporations
  7. They cover a variety of circumstances and are very similar to the basic policies many people purchase. At my age insurance can be up to 10% of the cruise cost so it is quite a savings. The points guy does a good job of detailing the benefits
  8. GeoBlue is trip medical insurance. It includes evacuation and other typical coverages. That and a credit card and we are set. I never got a separate policy until Covid when some countries were requiring it
  9. You can start it the night before you travel. I am very happy. For us two senior citizens it costs less than $300 per year for both of us.
  10. GeoBlue is a travel insurance, not a Medicare product. It is offered at the Trip Insurance store, is underwritten by Blue Cross and is cheap as dirt and excellent coverage. The younger you are, the cheaper it is. Check it out on the Cruise Critic insurance board
  11. If I am traveling internationally often I buy a yearly GeoBlue medical insurance policy. Otherwise all of the coverage I want is attached to my Chase Sapphire credit card, that costs under $100 per year
  12. American has said they will be capping fares to help out this situation. Forget trying to book SWA , try another airline.
  13. For all others going forward. SWA announced that they will not be selling new tickets until after January 1, at least here in our Dallas market. This is a disaster.
  14. I only speak from my experience but I think it may be a rule. We paid off early to secure a discount only to be told we could no longer change flights. It is the same as if you had requested early ticketing.
  15. Someone mentioned once that they use the chat feature. I simply call
  16. If you are flying from the USA - if the flight significantly changes after ticketing you are allowed, by law, to change to another flight at no cost (with the same airline). That should be done directly with the airline once ticketed. HAL has no control whether the flight will change. Theoretically flexible fares can change but I have never had one go up. I like flexible because I am allowed to change my flights to get a better fare or a better time, free of charge, up to final payment date. Restricted fares cannot be changed Please note final payment date is the date you make final payment not the official final payment date.
  17. Yes, I think so. SWA is not going to get this unraveled for many days - just in time for the next holiday.
  18. Scroll to the bottom of your emailed invoice
  19. Southwest has really suffered with their newest CEO. As a long time fan, I met Herb Kellerher numerous times, I am no longer using them until something changes.
  20. Yes you can. Take it to the front desk and apply it to your account
  21. Yes, you can’t combine credit card and gift cards in a single shore excursions transaction. It takes a little algebra to figure out how to optimize your purchase. One thing to note is you can buy a HAL gift card direct from HAL for any whole increment. So let’s say you need only $3 you can go to the HAL website and buy that $3 gift card.
  22. I have done the Boston Montreal run three times plus a few other times sailed the Canadian Maritimes. Once many years ago on NCL and the remainder on HAL. I obviously like this cruise. I have sailed the inside passage three times , twice on Princess and once on HAL. I did both sailings once again this year If you like colonial history and old world charm go east. If you like raw wilderness and the rugged outdoors go west. Sure these are broad generalizations but they help define the cruise. I just noticed you said you live near New Orleans. Are you a native? If so you certainly will enjoy the culture and history of the eastern sailing. Many of us native Louisianians trace our roots to eastern Canada I truly don’t believe CCL is any worse off financially than any other cruise line.
  23. Recently? I have not been able to watch tv in any port this past year.
  24. Eruptions are fairly predictable with modern technology, more so than earthquakes or tsunamis. I think someone should have forewarned and not have run the excursion. I understand from other reports that there were people who were far too close to the flow and were clearly outside of the safety zone. Of course, a case could be made that the excursion guide should have more rigorously enforced the rules.
