  1. Not Alaska but Dallas to Vancouver and Dallas to Prince Edward Island. Those were my furthest trips with multiple others into upper US, also Quebec, northern Ontario. I still have not driven to the Yukon nor Northwest Territories. Alaska would be done by ferry if I were to do it
  2. If you don’t foresee wanting to change in case there is a fare drop you can request it be ticketed. Before you do be sure to edit the information to include frequent flyer info and other details. This will help it link to your airline account and make it easier for you to manage your flight details - seats, meals, in case there is a schedule change and so on.
  3. There is truth in that but there are also people who are hyper vigilant because they have compromised immune systems due to illness, medications or age.
  4. It depends on how long you are going to wait and if it is a domestic or international departure. Flights start getting expensive if you get too close to the date. If you can drive to port and are willing to take a risk why not? I wait but only for cruises that are not top priority and I can drive to. I can drive to Galveston, New Orleans or Mobile and with enough time anywhere on the continental US and have.
  5. Technically you should be able to change your flight up to final payment date, YMMV. I don’t see any advantage or disadvantage either way. Was there some particular reason you wanted them to do so now?
  6. I don’t know. We walk for morning exercise every day and often wonder is that person at the park in their pajamas? I can’t imagine you would walk in an urban park in your pajamas - maybe fashion has just passed us by
  7. We had that issue this summer, the air conditioning cut off. I complained and it stopped happening but for a few nights I thought I was losing my mind. Again on the Zaandam, 6th deck.

  9. You now can only receive 2x the actual sailing days credits. The maximum bonus days is equal to the length of your cruise.
  10. I have always assumed that the tipping model is tax advantaged from one angle or another. Whether the tax advantage is to the line or to the crew I can’t guess . I can imagine either scenario
  11. I don’t see how they could possible isolate air for each room. That would require a major engineering renovation. They do use filters both HEPA and ultraviolet and possibly others. I have found the air quality much improved. The mold control surpasses any I have experienced in the past . I am very sensitive to mold and haven’t had a sniffle this year on any of my cruises except one river cruise
  12. Go to the airline website, sign in and see your management options. No one can tell you if the airline will make a change to the flight, that is not something the cruise line controls. It is better to be an educated consumer and know your options ahead of time
  13. Disposable water bottles are the issue. I have one like this. The screw on lid has a gasket so it never leaks. Mine was a promotional giveaway.
  14. You can book shore excursions prior to sailing. You cannot use the credit for excursions which occur before the cruise such as overland tours.
  15. In my experience with issues on cruise ships there are designated people to deal with the problem people. I guess some are trained for mediation skills or if need be headlock skills. Hoping it doesn’t come to that on HAL
  16. I have been a lot of days on HAL cruises and never once had this kind of disruption. I don’t rent the cabanas but have never heard a single peep when passing nearby. This is truly a one-off and needs to be corrected.

  19. Last cruise I bought a bunch of stuff in the shops just to make sure it was used up. As a practicality I buy the airport transfer since I am going to have to pay anyway.
  20. Some ships honor the screw on cap as part of HIA and some who don’t. It is not consistent , you have to ask your server

  23. Absolutely agree, You aren’t a VIP if you can’t follow the rules and decorum. Somebody needs to address this. Besides shipboard write the executive offices.
