  1. If I were sailing the Caribbean for 7 days I would look beyond HAL. Those sailings are strictly cash flow cruises and not their true niche. I have done a 12 day with HAL in the Caribbean and that seemed run off the mill.
  2. I don’t think we are saying it is not a disappointment and a wrong. There are only two choices go or don’t. Complaining is appropriate, trying to get it straightened out is appropriate but a final decision needs to be made. Go knowing the cabana will not be available or cancel. Once a decision is made the best should be made of the vacation. Personally, i would make one big effort to right this then I would go and put this out of mind so I can enjoy the time.
  3. I understand what you are saying but people have also lost their preferred cabin. HAL should have a first paid, first service policy.
  4. The Mariner early booking bonus is for up to 90 days, so March 18, from launch date. I don’t know about this most recent bonus offer though.
  5. I am sorry that happened and I am sorry that HAL has chosen not to honor a first come, first serve policy. I think it is wise never to have one single aspect of a cruise determine the outcome. I would again address this once onboard.
  6. Maybe on a holiday cruise you might have games but besides trivia, games are not big on HAL. And trivia is not for the faintest of hearts, HAL trivia players are very competitive. Only the pinnacle class ships have movies by the pools and the sound is not that great with the roof retracted which is most of the time the Caribbean. If you like multimedia presentations then you may like the theater
  7. I agree so much. I want healthy food. I would rather the world stage be used for a good enrichment series and night at the movies . I also want them to raise prices instead of lowering their standards😉 I am way past 50 too
  8. For this cruise you might want to go through Princess to get a Personal Cruise Consultant. Explain to Princess the situation and they will work with you on the transfer. It may take a supervisor to handle the situation. I would not be so quick to take any new agent a franchise would assign. I would ask friends and other passengers for a referral. We are not allowed to give referrals on Cruise Critic
  9. I am not a fan either but have easily found ways not to be present.
  10. I guess it depends on what you want. In our 20s we enjoyed the short cruises for the nightlife. We lived on the Gulf Coast and it was just another fun weekend trip. We were not what you would call boozers but we did enjoy dancing all night and the club scene. We then did 7 day cruises and today we don’t like to do anything less than 21 days much preferring at least 30 days. I am now not a fan of the 7 day cruise, they are usually cruisers for vacationers and families. The short cruises are short getaways especially for those who lived near a home port. The long cruises are for travelers mostly, people whose first criteria is destination and that is now what I cruise for.
  11. Yes you can and you can use OBC or shore excursions credit c
  12. But not the transfers on the webpage, they are not listed as shore excursions. It is only the ones listed as shore excursions
  13. I do not think the credit will work for these. These are listed under shore excursions. Usually there are two options each with a wheelchair variation. One option will be to go direct to the airport, , another option will include some sightseeing with airport drop off
  14. You can buy them on the ship up to 24 hours before debarking.
  15. Probably a good time to think about it as the winter clothing and gear go on. sale in January.
  16. And this is why we always advise our waitstaff that we are in no rush.
  17. I have a room dedicated to packing. Unless I have guests coming I start packing/accumulating as soon as I am back from the last trip. This comes from life as a road warrior when I traveled every month of the year.
  18. Restaurant steaks are true cuts. They have a slap of beef and cut steaks from that. There are always some bad cuts from that slab and you should most definitely say I received a bad cut please bring another. it is lack of training or budgeting by the kitchen but without the turn back they will never learn.
  19. We are table for 2ers I assume dinner is at least 90 minutes and would be disappointed if I was rushed to eat an evening meal in less. If we have guests joining us for dinner we assume it might even be longer If I am short on time I simply don’t go to the MDR. I find the MDR slow at breakfast. We always join other guests at breakfast and sometimes we have to leave early even though we felt an hour was sufficient time to eat and be cordial.
  20. Glad it is sorting out. Use the app too to get your messages out. I still want to know why they had all of that toilet paper in the room.
  21. Your best bet is likely to wait until the ticket is issued and deal directly with American. You can’t deal with American until your ticket is issued. did you enter your frequent flyer number at Flight Ease. This will help when the ticketing is done
  22. Yikes, that is a lot! When we sailed the K it was at capacity but not every single berth, just every single room. I hope you have fixed dining, if not go down and sign up. We used anytime dining and we waited every single night unless we showed up for the late seating. I imagine the holiday cruise will have lots of entertainment have fun!
