  1. If you paid with a credit card that offers travel benefits, you could file a claim with them. Depending on the card, it may not cover full reimbursement; but you would get whatever it offers up to the policy limit. On the other hand, if you were hospitalized for a pre- existing condition, it won’t pay at all.
  2. https://www.carnival.com/legal/covid-19-legal-notices/covid-19-refund-cancellation-policy Did you submit the information to Carnival? It appears the refund should come from them.
  3. Not enough information to know what happened. Did the insurance company say why they were paying only $400? What policy did you have? One purchased from Carnival? AON administers the claims for several cruise lines, but they are not the underwriters. It sounds as if your supplement does not cover foreign travel. Not all of them do. Did you then use the denial to submit a claim with your travel insurance?
  4. I think you misunderstand. Steve will not insure them because they have no cash value. Princess requires you to insure the full amount; but if you cancel for a covered reason, you’ll be refunded only the actual dollar amount you paid. The FCC will be returned to your account, but they will be allowed to expire with no refund. Take another look at Terms & Conditions Paragraph 3. I think your TA and the Princess agent were missing some key details about the nature of your FCC to give you an accurate answer. Consider the goodwill FCC to be a discount. You won’t be getting them replaced if you cancel.
  5. Does your FCC represent cash value from a refund or is it bonus/goodwill? I’m asking because Steve said not to insure it. That indicates it has no cash value. Is the FCC that is returned in case of cancellation the same one you booked with that expires in April? Look again at Paragraph 3 of the Terms & Conditions.
  6. Travel insurance has always been complex. It is just that more people are finding that out as more are having to file claims for illness or travel disruptions. Travel agents sell policies but often are not knowledgable about how they work. They are not travel insurance brokers, after all. If you want help finding the policy that best fits your needs and assistance with a claim if that becomes necessary, you should consider a licensed broker. As cited in a previous post, many here on CC are happy with Trip Insurance Store.
  7. Post final payment? Aren’t you in the 100% cancellation penalty period after final payment?
  8. There are a number of plans that allow a waiver for pre-existing conditions if purchased by final payment. There can be other requirements such as being fit to travel, as you know, and some policies require you to insure all prepaid nonrefundable expenses. Once purchased, the plan is nonrefundable after the 10-day examination period; however, you might be able to transfer it to another sailing at a later date if you have to cancel before final payment. To be sure you get the right information for your situation, I recommend that you call Steve Dasseos at Trip Insurance Store. Be sure to disclose the details of your husband’s treatment and current condition. Steve can recommend an appropriate policy if he determines that you meet the requirements.
  9. As long as the condition is stable, it is not considered in the pre-existing exclusion. Any other test, treatment, symptom, or diagnosis in that window can be considered if it can be related to your reason for cancellation/interruption. Also check on all those other people listed in that provision to be sure they have not had any events during the sixty-day look back, especially if you have elderly or ill family members.
  10. Can you dial the local number? 816-282-6858 816 is the area code, not a toll-free number.
  11. Sorry. I misunderstood your meaning. Yes to the OP checking with another company. Many here of CC depend on Trip Insurance Store to offer good advice and options.
  12. I don’t think checking with another company will make a difference. Third-party insurance will insure only the actual dollar value. That is why you could insure only $900 of your discounted cards. If there is no cash value as is the case for goodwill or bonus FCC, then it can’t be insured. Princess insurance is different because it is a hybrid product consisting of true insurance from Nationwide for some named risks and a CFAR element from Princess.
  13. Is it considered as goodwill or was it a refund for the days you were isolated? Only those FCC which result from loss you paid for can be insured by third-party policies. It is my understanding that Princess requires you to insure the total amount including FCC. According to T&C posted above, refundable FCC are returned.
  14. https://www.princess.com/plan/fcc-onboard-cruise-credits/ Here is a link to the Terms and Conditions governing FCC. You will see that bonus FCC such as you have does not represent cash value, therefore can’t be insured by third-party policies. Be sure your agent understands your FCC is goodwill not a refund from a cancelled cruise.
  15. https://www.princess.com/plan/fcc-onboard-cruise-credits/ Here are the rules governing FCC. Scroll to the bottom of the page for Terms and Conditions.
  16. Not all policies cover FCC as a form of payment because it has no cash value; however, there are some that will allow you to insure the value of those that result from a cancelled cruise but not those that were granted as goodwill or bonus. It is a complex issue. To be sure you are getting what you need, call the professionals at Trip Insurance Store to discuss your options.
  17. Yes, Trip Interruption and Trip Delay are not prepaid expenses. I was not considering them in my answer about accrued interest though those, too, could be carried as a balance until the claim was settled. In addition, as you pointed out, additional expenses for the spouse are covered while the patient is being treated along with return transportation. In any case, I have never seen a policy that states it will pay the interest on any medical or travel expenses while the claim is pending. It is an interesting question for Steve, but I’m betting No.
  18. Not to my knowledge. Policies list covered medical expenses and services. Otherwise, they cover prepaid nonrefundable expenses up to the policy limit. Accrued interest on a credit card does not fit either of those definitions.
  19. It is not just you. It applies to traveling partners and family members. Take some time to read the definition of Pre-Existing Condition on page 47.

  21. If you were reading your Guide to Benefits, you just did not read far enough. Continue reading and you will find that pre-existing conditions are not covered for Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption. Call Chase for clarification to be sure you understand how it works and to whom it applies whether or not they are traveling with you.
  22. For those who depend on credit card coverage, be aware that it does not cover pre-existing conditions for you, your traveling companion, or your family. That has broader implications than you may have realized.
  23. It depends on whether the remaining passenger has insurance with single supplement coverage.
  24. Yes. In order to file a claim, you must cancel in a timely manner to avoid further penalties. If cancellation is delayed and additional penalties are incurred, insurance will not cover them. In any case, cancellation must be for a covered reason as defined in the policy. Those who do not show up at all with no notice of cancellation have no basis for a claim.
  25. The exact wording is “between now and April 23.” I did not mean to confuse you with an imprecise choice of words. I expect that it extends through April 23. It is the remaining piece of the COVID Assistance Plan, but Book With Confidence is over. https://www.celebritycruises.com/health-and-safety
