  1. Oh I agree that he should pack at least a pair of long pants, even if it's just jeans. That being said, since the return from the Covid shutdown, there are more & more ships that now accept shorts as acceptable attire on casual evenings, even though it's not indicated in their write-ups. If the guy finds out that shorts are good to go, then he'll be a happy camper, if not he can always to to the buffet.
  2. The buffets on all the Royal class ships aren't really that bad even if you board late. Their design is so open that it they can accommodate large groups for lunch without much crowding. Unfortunately the Emerald is much more closed in.
  3. My thinking is that it was a heathier or maybe a cheaper version of past recipies?
  4. It makes it tough to arrive early enough to eat in the DR if your restricted by an airline arrival time.
  5. You're assuming that they're wearing a cap for sun protection. Just maybe, they have a scalp condition that they're uncomfortable with and wish to cover it up. Which would rather see?
  6. After all these years I'm still looking for all those extreme under dressers that posters keep talking about, and have still yet to see one. The worst I've seen are people in casual clothing on formal nights and those dreaded shorts on casual evenings.
  7. Since you know there will be an open DR for lunch It's easy enough to find.
  8. Wow. They used to give them away for free in the library. Bring them from home.
  9. They all seem to be similar. I'd choose based upon your cabin location as to which is more convenient. Perhaps the aft DR is a little more relaxed.
  10. On the Royal a while back we had one near the bow. With the design & size of the newer ships, unless you're sailing in very heavy seas you won't notice much movement.
  11. We've been directed (once) to another DR but that was in the days of open seated dining. If you arrive as early as we do (5PM) you'll neve experience any wait or be asked to switch DR's.
  12. I'm beginning to think their medallion reservation system means next to nothing. They check you in whether you have reservations or not, so what's the purpose? It's also doubtful if most people cancel standing reservations, once made at the beginning of their cruise.
  13. It can be but it's always a much longer walk from our cabin location so we tend to stick with mid ship dining rooms.
  14. They do provide entertainment if nothing else.

  16. On the Enchanted the full breakfast buffet began at 6 AM on disembarkation day although I did see some food set out slightly earlier, I'm not sure if your were allowed to take it.
  17. Only a Princess request, security doesn't look twice. At least in Florida. 😉
  18. My guess is that it's a convenient place to leave it otherwise where would they store it? Either on the table, on the floor or sit on it.
  19. I was unaware that they had installed "dedicated" filling stations. I think that many people will still be using the other stations as well.
  20. All the Royal class ships have the water dispensers in the buffet area dining area, right next to the coffee stations.
  21. As you said, there are large groups that do have some of the venue's reserved for their functions. Even the aft pools can be overrun with them and although not exclusively reserved for that group alone, most people just avoid using them. i.e.- Most people just don't care for the activities that take place when those groups get together.
  22. They do say cans only but we took 3 or 4 1 liter bottles each with no question. In between cruises my husband came back with his suitcase containing only plastic bottles, so there couldn't be any question that it wasn't noticed. I don't think the security is in sync with Princess publishes.
