  1. It serves it's purposes. Onboard Princess ships it increases sales for both drinks, photo's, and hair styles and by unofficially letting their customers decide for themselves what is appropriate. For CC, it increases the traffic of hits thereby increasing their cash for advertising. It might be confusing to you, but never the less, true on all the ships we've been on since the return from Covid. No one is forcing you to wear shorts. It's an option if your choose.
  2. We've led a sheltered cruise life for many years now so Princess is all we know about other than what is posted on CC. What is important is that Princess has joined the majority of cruise lines with a less formal attitude. Enjoy your cruise no matter how you choose to dress.
  3. We just got off the Enchanted last cruise and it could be used for anything including the casino. They do not differentiate it as a separate OBC. I suspect they word it that way to encourage people to use it only for excursions and nothing else. We no longer do any excursions in the Caribbean.
  4. Just out of curiosity, which cruise lines other than Cunard still enforce a strict dress code?
  5. That's the way it is here in Florida also. I haven't seen anyone wearing jeans with holes, yet, but after seeing what some people consider nice jeans, it would be an improvement. 😄 My DH burned all his ties after we moved to Florida & refuses to wear a jacket anywhere no matter what the occasion. I think the last time he did wear one was over 20 years ago on a cruise when things were more formal.
  6. I have yet to see anyone wearing any pair of jeans being turned away yet. Their attitude as to what types of jeans are acceptable has also changed over the years.
  7. Interesting idea I'll have to try.
  8. That's no longer true on Princess for many years now. Jeans are even acceptable on formal nights.
  9. Although I can't speak recently for other ships, on the Enchanted shorts are defiantly allowed on casual nights. Even though the dress code has been greatly relaxed from past years, I didn't see any on formal nights but suites, tuxes and formal gowns are no longer required. It's basically whatever makes you feel comfortable.
  10. No matter how good the food was, 2.5 hours to complete a meal is beyond reasonable.
  11. Not that you can avoid any large groups but once we travelled with a group that all managed to arrive at the DR at the same time. (6 PM) The DR service went from great to dismal in a matter of minutes.
  12. Yea, and I though the older white ones were bad. The brown ones are even worse.
  13. Try a panama canal cruise & you'll stand a better chance.
  14. That's correct, but having a table for two eliminates all the gabbing that takes place at larger tables, thereby slowing down the whole dining process. If you request you meal to be speed up at a 2 top table it's sometimes possible, but not so much at a table for 6.
  15. That is strange. On 2 occasions in the Caribbean I bought back some alcohol for crew members since they told me that they weren't allowed (they made the purchase). We just walked right past the alcohol check-in desk as usual.
  16. You defiantly can switch out the medallion for a cruise card but on the slight chance they won't issue him one, you'll have to stick together the whole trip especially when disembarking and reentering the ship.
  17. You've selected a busy time to arrive at the DR so it's a popular production show you choice of seating in the show lounge will probably be limited. Maybe the later show would be a better choice or arrive earlier at the DR.
  18. Since the available room at the lot is somewhat restricted, they'll be moving your car around to make room as needed when a ship returns. Since the keys are in all the cars there's nothing to keep someone from taking any car and driving off. The only proof they wanted when going past the booth on the way our was the ticket in the window. I think we'll be using another parking lot in the future.
  19. Eating with others means you're meal time will only be a fast as the slowest person.
  20. You could always ask a crew member for juice at breakfast.
  21. Wow, I though those shows would have been done by now.
  22. Some years back they were doubling the OBC for some cruises booked on board but I haven't seen that since. Booking on board doesn't offer anything. Booking at home gives me the opportunity to explore different ships at my leisure rather than being rushed to make an on spot decision.
