  1. Continued. A tiny boat joined us and followed us for a while. Oh what luck! I found a duck!
  2. One more shot of that whale tail! Continuing on. It was starting to get hot out so I went to my cabin for the next set of photos. These were from my window on deck 1. The local prison.
  3. More. At this point we took a break for breakfast. It was almost 9AM and it would be closing. While enjoying a nice breakfast we entered the Pedro Miguel Locks. I had a table near the back of the dining room which is where I took these photos from.
  4. More. Workers (and maybe tourists?) cheering us on from this building. The locomotive guiding us through. Almost there. Looking back at our transit so far.
  5. Miraflores continued. A ship using the new locks across the way. Looking back. Looking forward after another ship just exited the other set of locks.
  6. It was way too crowded up front at this point so I gave up my spot and took the advice from the seminar, don't be stationary. Keep moving all around the ship so you can see it all. It was far less crowded in the middle than in the front and the back and you could move port to starboard without worrying about losing your spot. Continuing towards Miraflores. Another rainbow if you look closely. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe this was the former American military base.
  7. Sunrise was a challenge from my vantage point and I did not want to give up my spot because I knew I would not get it back. If I crop out the tops of their heads this might be an ok picture. Sun is up now in Panama City. With the sun out, we were now treated to a rainbow. Hard to see in photos but was beautiful in person. Sailing towards the Miraflores Locks. Approaching the Bridge of the Americas.
  8. Panama Canal: I wish that the internet had been more cooperative earlier in the cruise so this could have been closer to live. Internet has been great since the last time it went down completely, but I still was not able to be quite as live as I had hoped to be. Lets rewind back to my day crossing the Panama Canal. I was up pretty early this morning so that I could be awake for the entire transit of the canal. The pilot was due onboard at 5:30 so by 5:20 I was at the front of deck 9. So were A LOT of other people. Panama City skyline. Lots of other ships also waiting to enter the canal.
  9. Spent an hour at the gym then went to brunch. Service was very slow this morning. It took 25 minutes for my drink order, and then it was wrong. Pepsi instead of a diet Pepsi, thankfully the replacement came quick. The food was all very good at least. Cheese grits. Crab and avacado sandwich after I picked off the greenery. Seven layer cake.
  10. Another wonderful change this morning, I can see the happy smiling faces of the crew. It warms my heart to see crew given the choice to mask or not. Thank you Carnival!
  11. Speaking of Dr. Suess, the parade is getting ready to start. It's nice to see the activities come back that we're casualties of covid even ones I don't participate in 😆.
  12. I did see the Dr.Suess breakfast returns tomorrow. It's $10 or $8 for kids. I kind of wanted to do it but that is quite a price jump. I'm on the fence about it. The menu doesn't even look that exciting. Steak and egg option doesn't say what kind of steak it is, sounds like you pay $10 and still get that terrible striploin.
  13. Good morning everyone from the Caribbean Sea. No steakhouse brunch option this morning and it's not available tomorrow either. I'm really surprised they are not keeping this extra revenue opportunity and the menu looked really good.
  14. Casino let me down again. One more night to have my name drawn. I'm going to bed now and hope to sleep in since it's a sea day 💤. Good night.
  15. Tonight was my least favorite dinner menu but I made it work and enjoyed my dinner overall. Alligator beignets. Not bad but come to the south for good alligator, much better than this. My mom's spare ribs. Pretty much a whole animal on her plate here 😅. Lasagna bolognese. Corn, chilli, quinoa baked tomato. Banana split for dessert. Banana was ready to be made as Banana bread and nothing else but had enough sugar on it to still be enjoyable.
  16. I'm less upset that this is the first time I caught Getaway Island. I'll just leave it at that 🤣
  17. It seems most times I've been to St.Thomas we have left in the evening. Most of my favorite sunset photos have been from here but we left at 4 today. Closest I got, I was too slow to catch the bird flying in front of the sun.
  18. I'm not a big fan of carnival's production shows but I do love Getaway Island. Sad to say that with three chances to watch it, this is the first time I made it. One of my favorites.
