  1. I have a friend who is diabetic and must eat at prescribed intervals and finds it necessary to do the same. She gets plenty of authentic experiences.
  2. Yes. Of course. Hubby and I were talking about Reykjavik while I was typing. Thanks, and I’ve edited. 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️
  3. I’ll be boarding on the 19th for the next three cruises. This is the first day I’ve visited this thread, and I’ve mostly skimmed the first and last several pages. I’ll try to catch up fully eventually. We are 22 days into our 58 day, four cruise trip, and have been doing a self-drive tour of amazing Iceland for the past four days. We came through the tunnel into Akureyri and we were happy to see this:
  4. And I’ll have my cross stitch. Frankly, I added that part because I anticipated some judgmental reply about kids and video games, and them not appreciating being on a cruise. My kids are extremely grateful, and they enjoy their occasional game time.
  5. My kids and nieces have brought their Switches with them. Your grandson will know what he needs to be sure it’s charged. Just as adults spend some of their downtime aboard on Cruise Critic, and playing games on their phones, kids may find playing video games during their down time is fun.
  6. I’m on the Jupiter, doing the Viking Homelands itinerary. greetings from Stockholm.
  7. The attendants at the Living Room say that “Everyone is asking for them!” I’m wondering if pistachios have gotten too expensive?
  8. Onboard now. The pistachio raisin rolls have been removed from the menu. So disappointed!!!!!
  9. Are you at different Captain’s Club levels? That could account for the “Select,” as it is the name of a level.
  10. I’ve been doing this for many years, well before COVID. I still instinctively cough into my elbow, even when wearing a mask. Coughing into a hand is disgusting, but I suppose it’s potentially better than not covering at all.
  11. We sailed past the Viking Jupiter whist on a fjord cruise today. I look forward to one of those raisin pistachio rolls when we board in a couple of days.
  12. In Chile, we had our bags X-rayed/scanned in the terminal as we exited the ship for the day to go ashore. They were looking for fruit. I know we have experienced this in at least one other port. I think it was Hilo, Hawaii. The danger of parasite transfer is a very real. It is important to respect the places we visit.
  13. If you have Captain Leo (whom I've had for each of my 3 Eclipse cruises), his announcements are actually worth listening to. He's an excellent communicator. He gives great talks on sea days, as well. Life is Beautiful!
  14. To me, this is absolutely silly. Customers should be able to make purchases online when logged in and have their discounts automatically applied. This is the case on countless websites, and I don't get why X doesn't do it that way. It seems that programming the site to apply the appropriate discount would be far more cost-efficient than having customer service agents do it. Those agents should be helping with things that don't make sense to have on the consumer end. Wait times would be shorter if the agents' time could be focused just on the more complicated stuff. I'm obviously missing something, maybe the agents do additional upselling when customers call? I've never called.
  15. There is currently a movie in theaters called "Nope." I haven't seen it. My young adult kds have. I'm just going to assume it's about this particular cocktail, and I am not going to ask further and have my delusions debunked.
  16. Same here. PapaFej will ask, "Anything interesting on the boards today?" He actually 'knows' a few of y'all by screen name.
  17. Both my hubby and I have access to track all of our Air Tags on our iPhones and my laptop as well as his iPad on our shared iCloud account. If you only have separate iCloud accounts, only one of you will be able to track each tag.
  18. Big Brother is watching... and LLP is listening.
  19. We had an overnight layover in Helsinki and had checked the bags in at Stockholm all the way to LAX. It was very comforting to see our bags showing at our gate before we'd even left the lounge.
  20. I kind of doubt that top executive bonuses are an expense being cut. I could be wrong.
  21. If the pattern continues, 15% off each 50% of a passenger. Sorry. I'll see myself out.
  22. Hubby is a retired fire investigator. The vast majority of fires he investigated involving deaths were caused by smoking. The rest were candles. His final fire death was a 12 year-old girl, trapped in her home and screaming via 911 for help until she was overcome. Hubby heard it all. Mom's boyfriend didn't properly dispose of his cigarette. Banning smoking on balconies is fine by us. So is reporting it for the safety of eveyone onboard.
  23. Yes. A $1000 bid has the weight of a $1010, $1020, $1030, $1040, or $1050 bid, depending on CC level. Edited to add: the cynic in me thinks this is a way to get people to increase the amount they're willing to bid. "Hmmmm, I'm Select level, and my multiplyer is low, I guess I'd better bid more to compete against someone at a higher level."
  24. <<<<<<<< thinking: my hubby gets up at 5:45, despite complete silence... If there's noise above me, nbd. Maybe I can get one of those move ups the rest of y'all don't want?????
