I wonder if its a hal system glitch or it defaulting to vaccination required. I would love to see a vaccination requirement for hal cruises but I am highly suspicious.

I don't think it's a possibility to move to the next category. I have heard of someone getting obc but that was a while ago definitely pre covid.

I’ll second that 😍. I just wish they wouldn’t push flights so close together after booking. I’m too old for this.

Hello all. I just wanted to report back. It was a bit much. My flight left San Diego 40 minutes late! I got into Vancouver at just after 5 pm. My next flight was at 5:50 🤪. Of course we landed at something like e43 and my next flight was at c42. Luckily there was no wait at customs. By the time I got there my face was red I’m sure and I was freaking out worried I wouldn’t make my flight. It’s a wonder I didn’t get pulled for additional screening. When I got close to my gate my boarding pass needed to be scanned to proceed into the next section. Scanners were down and no one was getting through. She called and eventually she looked at everything manually. I got to my gate as the plane was half boarded. We did have to wait for another family that was running for this flight. Thankfully I didn’t have to get my luggage nor go through security again. Thanks everyone.

We were next to a carnival ship as well and they were the quiet one.

I didn't send pictures at all or play games casino or otherwise. Getting info your bank account isn't asking to much. Neither is checking your credit card.

I agree about it feeling safer whether it is or not. There were a lot of people coughing up a lung and saying they felt sick roaming around the ship. Brilliant. I can't say I noticed that in club orange. Pure luck maybe. I thought for sure I would get covid his time but I lucked out.

I was on the koningsdam for 2 weeks in November. Couldn’t get the Speedtest to even work. It kept erroring out. That said I only used the internet in my cabin, restaurants and the cabana area which is close to the crows nest. Occasionally I could get some websites to work ok on my balcony. Those were the ones I used without much issue though. Good luck!

I wonder if this will be a thing at lunch as well. I didn’t eat at the pinnacle at night on my last cruise so I don’t know if they are charging for extra apps. They didn’t seem to do it at lunch. I just had one and my main but someone was sitting next to me had 3 apps and a main and nothing was mentioned about a charge. That said maybe they don’t mention it.

I think it is worse with more people on a cruise. That said I’m not a good sleeper so sometimes I’d be trying to access my bank or Amex for instance at 4 am or midnight. No difference. You’d think there would be less people using it at 4am.

I thought my club orange was a separate line item but since I’ve gotten home I’ve checked. It’s rolled into my cruise fare so it’s impossible to see. Hopefully they threw you a bone for free. It does show as a separate line item with the perks.

That’s odd. If you are before final you could ask that they remove it. The bags are very nice and strong.

I love usd. I wish I’d get paid in it 😛. Sometimes I’m short of cash so it would be useful. That said I don’t have many credit balances.

I really try not to eat carbs with my protein. At home I eat bread every day for breakfast. On a ship I eat eggs at least half the time or more. Hal gives tiny carb portions. I’m speaking of potatoes with fish for instance. They usually put a baby potato or two on the plate. If I was having a potato at home it would be an adult 😛.

So you can ask for cash if you have refundable obc? I never knew that. I’ll definitely have to keep that in mind. Thanks.

Be sure to take a copy of the website that says you can have the pinnacle, tamarind or Canaletto. One week on the koningsdam it was no issue. The next week I said I wanted to use my 5 star in the Canaletto but they charged me anyway. The manager at the front desk told me it was for the pinnacle only 🙄. When I showed her on the hal website she told me that was old information. Right. I worked it out with the Canaletto in the end. Good luck!

I would have been tempted to wave. It seemed several people didn’t know the difference between the mdr and club orange on my cruise because every morning she was turning people away because they didn’t have club orange. They thought it was the mdr. It would have been a huge problem fitting all those people in club orange. Also heard a person telling a high level mariner that they probably had access to club orange and they should ask.

Too funny. No, I don’t ever ask for anything special that’s not on the menu. I do get a kick out of people asking for everything bagels. Something that so widely known is not available on the ship. One good thing about being on a ship is that I eat a lot less carbs which is good because I eat too many at home.

I generally find comments such as yours from people who have never tried it. Actually the food is not the same. It’s actually hot, something I rarely experience in the mdr. They do have a daily special for dinner which was really nice when I tried it. It’s actually every bit if not more comfortable than the mdr and usually you are not sitting there for hours. Not once did anyone watch me. Did you see people peering in for extended periods? I just find that odd. I’m very cognizant of people that stare and I can’t say that I’ve ever noticed it. All that said I’m happy if people don’t like it. It was oversold on the koningsdam in November.

Thanks for the information on the non pinnacle ships and eating in the pinnacle. I’m really surprised at that. I was lead to believe you’d be in the mdr. I haven’t been on a non pinnacle ships for a while.

Have you actually experienced breakfast in the pinnacle grill with club orange on non pinnacle ships? I’ve heard this repeated a few times but I’m pretty sure that is not correct. I actually had Peruvian chicken in club orange on the the koningsdam as a special one night. When I saw it on the plate it looked so so but it was delicious.

In “theory” you can access websites. I could access cruise critic ok. Also could access Canada’s shopping network tsc although it was pretty slow. I don’t like Amazon so I rarely shop there. I couldn’t ever access my bank account with rbc, American Express and several other websites I can’t recall. I like listening to podcasts, couldn’t get Spotify or Apple podcasts to update. Also the internet was pretty much down most of the day in San Diego and Mexico for at least part of the day. My cabana steward told me this is a common occurrence. I was on the koningsdam Nov 12 - 26. I upgraded to premium the last couple days hoping it might help with the podcasts. It did nothing.

Thank you both about the cruise consultant hours. I had long given up on it because the hours were so limited.
