  1. Prayers for your DH Sam. I hope that he doesn't need surgery. 🙏 Thanks for starting us off each day Rich. My cousins are in good health but the one that I had interaction with sadly passed away last year due to lupus and vasculitis, his kidneys finally gave out. Amelia Earhart was a trailblazer and a pioneer. Interesting that pioneer day is about the movement across the US of the people of the LDS church. Pass on the quote and the Pasta but Cuba Libre is a favorite of mine but with Pussers dark rum. The Laughing Magpie is a tasty wine, I wish it was in stores more around where we live. Thanks for keeping us updated on events, illnesses and Celebrations @JazzyV. Prayers for baby Murphy I hope she can get off ECMO soon. Prayers for everyone on our Care list and the people of Ukraine. I hope everyone at sea are having a wonderful time. @StLouisCruisers thanks for the pictures of today's port in Tasmania in both gloom and sunlight, it looked like a nice walking city. The brisket turned out great, I will probably always cook it at 275 degrees. It was on at 5:45 am and done at 3 so I could bring it in and wrap it in foil to let it settle before carving. It was fun to watch Harman win the rainy Open yesterday while getting ready for company. I think John will fish today and I will weed in hope of finally getting my mulch down. Beautiful weather here for the next two days then two really hot then back to cool weather. John swears the reason the fish aren't biting is because the lake is so cool with it being below 70 degrees for most of the summer. Have a nice Monday. Nancy Brisket at 205 degrees and some arrangements I made yesterday.
  2. My late DH was a life long MD native. He always used finely chopped curly parsley in his crab cakes. I will return to Baltimore for a Ravens game and we always return home to MI with 2 pounds of MD jumbo lump and 5 pound box of gulf shrimp from Gibby's. We are going in September so fingers crossed if the season will still be open.
  3. This year, Grand South America on the Volendam. Never had been on a Grand voyage before this so I never could compare it to another. Our Spanish chef, the wonderful South American ports and to experience the remoteness and grandeur of Antarctica. We loved the Volendam too. We missed the Falklands and we didn't go to Igauzu Falls and I didn't sign up soon enough to go to Torres del Paine. First time they offer it in January we are repeating.
  4. @summer slope Dixie have a wonderful birthday. Today's cocktail would be a good substitute for birthday cake. 🍾🎂 Good morning everyone. My mother enrolled us in swimming lessons pre school. Another drowning preventer is to heed the posted signs at the beach. Cowboys are a needed occupation and vanilla ice cream is wonderful. Pass on the vegetarian wings, the sweet cocktail but today's wine reads like a winner. Great quote today! Thanks for the photos of today's port @StLouisCruisers. Prayers for baby Murphy and the medications can treat her sepsis, prayers for her parents who must be distraught. Prayers for everyone on our Care list and the people of Ukraine. Today we are having lake neighbors over for a brisket. I got the smoker going at 5:15 and it was ready for the brisket at 5:45. I am smoking it at 275 today, a little bit hotter than normal so we might be able to enjoy it before 6pm. Kosher salt, pepper, garlic powder and some Montreal Steak Seasoning. Have a nice Sunday! Nancy
  5. Good morning. I joined the poor sleep club last night. What I call "false sleep". Waking up frequently thinking I hadn't been sleeping. Maybe too much of my very low caffeine home made ice tea or my new box of tea bags was mislabeled. Bon Voyage to @dfish @Crazy For Catsand @NextOne. Have wonderful trips. 🛳️🍾 That for the Daily and Fleet Reports @richwmn. No hammock here, thanks Graham for explaining Spoonerisms, never knew they had a name. No summer leisure here, string trimming and preparing for a smoked brisket dinner tomorrow. The quote is true. I love joohjeh kabobs. We don't have any of the ingredients and an hour from the nearest store to buy them. Pass on the cocktail but the wine sounds like a good one. @kazu thank you for the wonderful photos of Ceuta. A place I would love to see. @JazzyVthanks for the care and celebrations lists. So happy the Bon Voyage list is firing up big time today. Prayers for all on our Care list and the people of Ukraine. The hummingbirds are looking in the window, that means their feeders are empty. I am regretting only buying one bag of sugar in town, I will just have to make their liquid weaker to stretch it. A few blooms from yesterday, it is time for the Japanese Iris to strut their stuff. Have a nice day. Nancy
  6. I recall seeing it on the Volendam Grand South America, I can't remember what station it was located. If available either the server in Lido or your Lido waiter can find some for you. That being said we always bring our Frank's Hot sauce onboard.
  7. Thankfully the dining is much better than the Denali lodging. It's been a while but we were totally underwhelmed by lodging but the dining in the Lodge was great.
  8. We always carried on a bottle per day and paid the corkage. We drive to FL so we never had a problem getting the wine there. One time we were departing San Diego so I shipped 16 bottles to a friend in Fallbrook and we drove up and retrieved them and rolled them aboard in heavy carry ons. That activity is behind us now. We are 4 Star and get 50% wine packages. We just bring a few special bottles aboard now for specialty restaurant dinners. Getting wine by the glass is a problem if you want a second glass with your main course due to delivery issues from busy wait staff.
  9. @Sharon in AZHappy birthday to your DH Craig! We were in Skagway in September 2016 on the Oosterdam. As usual when it is available I do one of my favorite shore excursions, horse back riding. My sister was with me and dear friends from MD.
  10. Good morning everyone. I am somebody as we all are. No dogs to celebrate in this house, my last one passed NYD 2001. Last year we would have celebrated National Junk Food day but we gained so much weight on the Volendam we are still sticking to diets. A nice quote and I have been to today's port in September 2016. I love meat meatballs. I will wait to find what a Horchata is. I'll come up with another wine today. Thanks for the Daily Reports Rich. @Norseh2o Bon Voyage! Thanks for the Cares and Celebrations Report! Prayers for Baby Murphy, everyone needing them and the people of Ukraine. Today's wine is Beringer Knight's Valley enjoyed on the Zuiderdam December 2019 before the world started falling apart. It is usually around $30 a bottle but can be found in sales sometimes in the mid-$20 range. We are enjoying it with Yankee Pot Roast. We agreed that the food that year on the Zuiderdam was nowhere near as good as on the old Rotterdam.
  11. My favorites. Soup PG lobster bisque. Meal fried lobster in Tamarind. Starter tempura shrimp Tamarind. All time favorite osso bucco Canalletto.
  12. Good morning. I haven't had an ice cream soda since I was a kid. I like hot dogs and if a Tootsie Roll Pop was sitting around the house, especially cherry, I might enjoy it. Today's quote is a great one. I love ribs in fact we are doing a trial run today on something called pork wings for our get together. Pass on the melon drink and I will conjure up my own wine of the day later. I haven't been to today's port. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports @richwmn! Thanks Vanessa for today's cares and celebrations reports. I am happy to see some upcoming cruising for our group. Prayers for all on our care list and the people of Ukraine. We had a long day yesterday as we left earlier than I would choose so we did a lot of sitting around waiting for my nail appointment time to arrive and then we got to the Fun Bar in Dunbar (Wisconsin) for our chef's dinner. It was really tasty except for the first course which included the the dreaded goat cheese. It was a stuffed pork loin with bread stuffing, bacon and cranberries, then pan fried potatoes and beans, finished with a pecan tart that we brought home. The caramel sauce on the plate itself was fantastic. Then we had a long 2 hour drive back into the woods, thank goodness the herds of deer we saw all through WI were far away on not in the road. We made it to our turnoff road off the highway at dusk. Another cool and windy day here so I will be cleaning the cabin. We are finally going to get a warm up here beginning tomorrow. @StLouisCruisers just like your DH John was at basic training for the National Guard near Seattle, they had no communication with the outside world and didn't know the momentous event had happened. I was riding my horse when a friend came out of her house and told me they had landed on the Moon. I turned around and headed home to watch the "first step". My wine of the day is Beaux Freres Pinot Noir from the Ribbon Ridge apellation in Oregon. Enjoyed on our balcony of the Old Rotterdam, February 2019.
  13. Good morning everyone. Thanks for the Daily reports Rich. I would love Raspberry Cake and don't recall ever having it. We may meet some new friends tonight. We are going out to a chef's table at a distant barbeque restaurant. One night a week he does something else from his previous cooking life. I would love to pay Scrabble with someone. I played a Facebook version of the game with a friend and her words were the most uncommon she was either absolutely brilliant or using the Google machine to come up with her words. Life events ended it which was a good way to end it. Pass on the chicken, Sloe gin fizzes were one of the first cocktails I drank. Pass on the rare Pinot Noir. We have been to Devil's Island but we didn't get Yellow Fever vaccinations that were mandatory so we stayed onboard. Prayers for all on our Care list and the people of Ukraine. Have a wonderful day. Nancy
  14. Good morning. Thanks for the Daily reports @richwmn. I would hug my cat kids is they were still with me. No other kids. I used to use Sour Patch Kids gummy candies to stay awake in boring meetings. If I felt I was going to nod off that burst of sour was a help. Thanks for the reason behind listening day @grapau27. Another one I would have missed the meaning. I try to listen to nature around me while working in my garden. We are so far away from civilization the only night unnatural sound is the propane refrigerator. One has to get used to hearing one's heartbeat. The birds and bees sound wonderful. MM quote is stupid. Shrimp skewers sound wonderful, will take my Laphroaig neat but the Pinot noir should be great. Never have been to today's port. Thanks for the Cares and Celebrations reports @JazzyV. Prayers for everyone on the care list and the people of Ukraine. We have decent weather today, just into the 50s. Hard to believe when so many are suffering in the heat. Have a lovely day. Nancy
  15. CC is acting strange. I tried to do a quote and it tacked it onto my OP. 😳🤔🤯 For emoji day.
  16. Good morning everyone. Thanks for today's Daily Sandi and Rich. Pass on tattoos, I really don't care for them. I like using emojis from time to time and they are great in my phone because I don't copy and paste off Google images on my phone to emojis are a good substitute. @grapau27 thanks again for enlightening us on another obscure day. I have not been to Molde but look forward to seeing photos from the port. Pass on the pasta but the cocktail would be good with sugar free Sprite. I have heard of Nalle wines but I don't think they are a huge producer. Prayers for all on our Care list, the people of Ukraine and those impacted by the severe flooding in the NE and those suffering with the intense heat out west and in the south. We will have cool weather today and possible rain. We had beautiful weather yesterday so we went fishing. None of that fun today. I have a hard time getting motivated when the weather is cool and cloudy. Happy 19th anniversary @Crazy For Cats. 🍾 🎂 @Quartzsite Cruiser I love those squirrels. They are little rascals here drinking the hummingbird nectar. Thanks for asking about my toe. Most of the pain is gone and the wound is almost completely closed. I can see the toenail is beginning to grow back. I may be able to wear loose shoes when we go to town on Wednesday.
  17. Good morning everyone. Thanks for today's Daily Sandi and Rich. Pass on tattoos, I really don't care for them. 18. Good morning. Thanks for the Daily Sandi and Rich! I rarely eat spinach but with a hot bacon dressing it is yummy. Never had a woody station wagon and snakes are frequent visitors in my garden. They love to eat crickets, grasshoppers and toads. I like the Einstein quote. I hated it when I took piano lessons and had to memorize, ditto for Bible verses. Pass on the high carb meal and cocktail and the obscure wine. Thanks for the photos of Busan @StLouisCruisers. Thanks for the Cares and Celebrations lists @JazzyV. Prayers for the shooting victims in Georgia and Fargo where a police officer was killed. Prayers for all needing them and the people of Ukraine. Snakes, one dead after being eaten by a chipmunk note the sunflower seeds nearby. Another with a toad in his belly and a Gaillardia flower. Have a nice Sunday! Nancy
  19. Good morning everyone! Sandi thanks for taking over for Rich so he can take a break. I have had first hand experience with pet fire safety. My house in MD was being remodeled with new finishes in the basement. The contractor's helper was staining in the basement and rather than doing it outdoors he asked if the fumes would bother me. I said OK to do it. Well, instead of taking the MinWax rags outside he hung them over a cardboard box with other refuse in it. They self ignited and the alarms went off after I had gone to bed. I ran down to see what was causing the alarms to go off and opened the basement stairs door and could see the light of flames reflecting on the wall. I grabbed a fire extinguisher and got most of it out but wisely decided not to go into the back basement to get another. Upstairs my phone was ringing from the alarm company asking if I needed the fire department and I said yes. Next was to locate my cats and secure them. I found my Maine Coon right away and I shut her in the closet. I found my Korat, Tiny, and locked her in the closet too. When the fire department came I let them know not to open that door. They were 2 stories above. They got the fire out quickly and we were all able to go to sleep for good that night. I always Respect Canada our neighbor to the north. I can't give anything away today unless I give it to John. A kooky quote. Pass on the high carb ravioli and the cocktail. I hope @cat shepard can find this strange sounding wine for us. I have been to A Coruna in September 2018 on the Konigsdam. It was a pretty small city easy for exploring. I only have one selfie from our walkabout but we found a childhood home of Pablo Picasso. The weather was beautiful. We found a highly rated seafood restaurant but they were closed so we hoofed it back to the ship. I remember the big cobblestones to walk over from the ship to the city. Prayers for all on our care list and the people of Ukraine. Glad baby Bailey is off ECMO and hopefully isn't showing too many after effects from her stroke. We have smoke alerts from the Alberta fires and I could smell it this morning. I am going to garden and run the sprinklers today. Yesterday we fished and were skunked. My Monarch butterfly larva on the Milkweed disappeared as they did last year. Some type of bird can tolerate their toxicity. I can't raise them indoors as many people do. Have a nice Saturday. Nancy
  20. Good morning everyone. A big day in France today. I don't worry about sharks in the water but we need to be aware of their important place in their ecosystem. No pandemonium please. Thanks for these daily reports each day @richwmn. I will pass on salt and pepper fish, also the Macaroni and Cheese day and the cocktail but the Malbec would probably be wonderful. We enjoy an $8.99 Kirkland Malbec, good flavor and no migraines. I look forward to the port photos from New Guinea. @SeaSickSailor Happy birthday to Allan. 🎂 @JazzyV thanks for keeping us updated on everyone who needs prayers and for recognizing happy events in our lives. Prayers for all on our Care list and the people of Ukraine. Have a nice day. Nancy
  21. Good morning. An strange group of days, a guess I have a little bit of geek in me but I really don't care for barbershop music and I don't think I live in a Fool's Paradise. Pass on the salmon and the cocktail but today's vino will be nice, a Merlot based St. Emillion wine. Thanks for the Moores photos Sandi and look forward to more, we are going there in February 2025. Thanks for the Cares and Celebrations reports Vanessa. Prayers for everyone needing them and the people of Ukraine. @StLouisCruisers thanks for the photo of Milo and Sadie. They look like good dogs. We are heading to town today which is a day early but our neighbors are heading into town for Wing Night at our local tavern. My sister and her husband leave this morning. We caught fish yesterday and had a walleye dinner. We have been catching a lot of toothy and stinky Northern Pike this year. None of our usual bluegill. Have a lovely day
  22. In Puerto Chacabaco I did a HA shorex which was horseback riding in river country. It was a gloomy day and cool so I layered up and brought my fold up raincoat. Before I got on my horse it started to sprinkle so I put on another layer. It was a nice drive into Aysen district and Patagonia. We had a great time and were treated to an excellent snack in a typical ranch home. My horse was headstrong and always wanted to eat so I couldn't get any photos from our ride. This was on Volendam Grand South America 2023.
  23. Good morning. It is a beautiful morning here on the lake and a cool 51 degrees. Hopefully calm winds so we can go fishing today, it blew up whitecaps yesterday. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports for us each day @richwmn. I still ask for plastic at the store but keep paper bags around because they are handy for packing things. Plastic bags go back to the store for recycling. Cows are a big part of my family history as my grandparents had dairy farms and also their sons ran a dairy processing plant. A strange quote from Hitchcock. Pass on salmon, will have my Basil Hayden's on the rocks and I think our wine will be difficult to find. I have been to Puerto Chacabaco and will have to look for photos. @JazzyV I am sad to hear the passing of your DF Ruth. Prayers for everyone on our Care list and the people of Ukraine. We had a brief power failure this morning. For some reason the inverter was on off not auto so for the first time the batteries got low so the generator didn't kick in. I went out at 5:30 am and figured out the issue, put the inverter to auto, the generator started and the power came on. First time hearing the generator all summer, we have had a lot of cloudy weather. Now to find my port photos.
  24. Good morning everyone. An interesting group of days. I love blueberry muffins and it is honorable to cheer up the lonely, it may require seeking them out. Thanks @grapau27 for enlightening us on another obscure day. Please wish Father David happy birthday from another Dailyite. I will pass on the cucumber salad and cucumber cocktail but I always will enjoy champagne. I haven't heard of it so I hope it can be found. Thanks for keeping the Cares and Celebrations list for us @JazzyV. Kind of quiet on the bon voyages lately. Prayers for those needing them and the people of Ukraine. We have a cool morning, it was 46 when I got up. We got several thunderstorms yesterday so we got badly needed rain for the lawn. I think we will go fishing once it warms up. Have a nice day! Nancy We finally have some Monarch caterpillars. Mexican sunflower and Baptisia blooms.
  25. Good morning everyone. It is raining here but is supposed to clear up with thunderstorms later today. My DS and DBIL will be coming here for dinner tonight. They had a reason to celebrate their 24 year old daughter got engaged yesterday. She and her fiancee were up at the family cabin so her parents could hear about the good news almost immediately. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Reports Rich. I would love another couple kittens but we travel too much and it wouldn't be fair to them to be left for so long. No Teddy bears in the house. I used to love Pina Coladas when we had our time share in Cancun. Can't work off all those calories these days. Pass on all three comestibles. Thanks for the photos of Edinburgh. Prayers for all on our Care list and the people of Ukraine. Vanessa thanks for keeping up with all the events good and bad. A few photos from fishing last week. Mainly we have been catching Northern Pike. Have a lovely day. Nancy
