  1. If you're flying to Europe in Aug 2023, that's considered high season so it could take a lot more points than 60k for a business class seat. I did a mock booking as far out as possible on Air Canada's site (May 2023) and a direct AC flight from Toronto to Barcelona, a non-refundable ticket was 231k points +$60 per person for business class. Economy was 45.8k+$60 and Premium Economy was 94.5k+$60. Keep in mind that you can also book a ticket through their site on a partner airline as well. For example, with a 2hr stopover in Lisbon, you can book business class on TAP Portugal for only 70k+$121. Good luck and happy planning.
  2. I seem to have been one of the lucky ones. I submitted my renewal application back in Oct. and got a conditional approval within 2 weeks. Shortly there after it changed to approved and I received my new Nexus card. My wife's application (first time) has been conditionally approved, she just needs to go in for the interview. Hoping that Canadian sites open soon as the one at Pearson is already an hour away from our home so going to Niagara Falls really isn't an option for us.
  3. T-Mobile most likely has a partnership agreement with one of the 3 major wireless carriers (Rogers, Telus, or Bell) in Canada.
  4. Iā€™ve seen some people suggesting it as an option in order to circumvent the negative test requirement. From my point of view there are two significant flaws with this option. First, think of the added cost and time required. Unless they planned to transit through Canada both ways, a last minute ticket from Europe will set off flags and it wonā€™t be cheap. I did a quick check and a non-stop 1 way ticket on May 28th (weekend) from Barcelona to Toronto in economy is $1,400. In comparison, a last minute flight from Barcelona to JFK is only $601. An Uber ride will add at least another $150. Donā€™t forget the flight home and the cost of the unused flight which may be returned as a travel credit unless you paid extra for refundable tickets in the first place. Second, CBSA will know you purchased your ticket last minute. The first question from the CBSA agent will probably be "So you live in the US and are coming to Toronto. How long are you planning on being here and where are you staying"? Somehow you know youā€™ll be ā€œrandomlyā€ selected for a Covid test and you will get the expedited service, so theoretically they could end up being stuck quarantine in Canada which defeats the whole purpose of flying to Canada. Will some try to beat the system? Sure, there may be some that will try but I highly doubt there will be many.
  5. Personally, I'd do the unlimited photos as it gives you a lot more flexibility. We upload all our photos to Google Photos and they join the slideshow on our Nest Hubs. The only thing you need to be aware of is that the pictures you can download are compressed which limits what you can do with it. They're perfectly fine for a picture book size, but if you happen to have one that you'd like to blow up, you will be limited in how big you can go.
  6. It depends. We will be sailing in 104, 180, and 539 days. We'll actually be on the same Silhouette sailing with two other couples. Nice to see you're on the rollcall for it.
  7. Don't be surprised, if they bring you extra dishes every night "to sample" even if you didn't request an extra entree. Their objective is to keep you very happyšŸ˜
  8. As NantahalaCruiser pointed out, "Prime" cabins are based on location. If you look at the deck plan for the Apex, 9233 is very close to the elevators. You may experience more noise and traffic in this location, but if neither of those are a concern, it's a great location. If you're like us and prefer a more quiet/low traffic area you may want to consider moving to a different cabin even "downgrading" to a regular Aqua cabin. If you do downgrade, you don't lose any of the benefits of the Aqua class cabins. It all comes down to personal preferences.
  9. Not a political rant because I believe it's the same attitude regardless of which political party is in power. The Americans simply don't see any value in restarting the NEXUS interviews in Canada for themselves. The lack of a NEXUS pass won't stop those of us that are planning a trip to the US. It's just a bit more of a PITA.
  10. I could be wrong, but I would think that the discussions are around when the US will be increasing the number of US agents stationed in Canada so that some can be assigned to the centres for interviews.
  11. That's what I did with one of our excursions. Even though we had booked it during the last excursion sale, the current 30% off dropped the price an extra $25pp. Hopefully we get the points too.
  12. My point was that the global shortages are still a reality. Just because it's 2 yrs and 2 months after the lockdowns started is irrelevant. Glad you aren't having issues finding stuff you like in the clearance bin, but I've never seen the wines DW & I drink on sale let alone on clearance.
  13. Perhaps you should take a stroll through your local LCBO in Mississauga. Take a look at the bare shelf space in the Bourbon & Scotch sections even some of the more popular wines sections in Vintages are bare. FYI, the LCBO is one of the biggest purchasers globally and even they are struggling to get product. The only stuff they aren't having a lot of problems keeping stock of is the mediocre wines in the front of the store.
  14. Timing of this PUP was perfect for us as it coincided with a 30% off excursions sale for our Alaska cruise. One of our excursions dropped significantly in price (about $100 for the 4 of us) so I cancelled it and rebooked 2 tickets under my acct and 2 under my wife's.
  15. Sei sicuro che questi sono i nostri bagagli? - Are you sure these are our bags? Non fa differenza. - It makes no difference. Guarantito che i robe dentro serano migliore delle nostri. - Guaranteed the stuff inside is better than ours. šŸ¤£
  16. If it does change their minds, they may never speak to you again when they discover reality. šŸ¤£
  17. As I've never been to Alaska, I will defer to those that have been but I'm pretty sure this isn't an option in Ketchikan. šŸ¤£ Yes, I realize it is nothing more than a stock tourism photo but with all the depressing posts lately I think we call all use a bit of a laugh.
