  1. On Star now. Rack of lamb not on menu.
  2. If not been before, suggest Pearl Harbor Visitor Center tour (included). Very moving and quite emotional. We had a terrific driver/guide who narrated the entire coach ride. Also took us to Punch Bowl, National Cemetery of Pacific.
  3. Manfredis Maitre D Alex at WC podium today lunch. Requested res for 7:30 tonight. No problem, we're in!
  4. I have Bridge Tour in a couple days. Another pax, at shared Restaurant Breakfast table, already took Bridge Tour. Said best ever, with our Captain Magnus.
  5. Estimates only -- didn't count. Galley/Laundry, about 30, ECR, around 10. They do offer multiple same tours, depending on guest demand.
  6. Thanks to V regulars on CC, I learned about ship tours. The tours are not publicized in Daily. Have to enquire and sign up at GS, which I did on embarkation day. Yesterday I participated in 2 tours: Galley/Laundry, and Engine Control Room. Galley led by Exec Chef Joseph. Was informative, as we were led through galley; a chance to see all stations, and speak with staff. Next part was a Laundry Tour led by Exec Housekeeper Mixson (or Nixon). Brief overview in Manfredis, the led down to deck B for the tour. Was most interesting to learn about equipment and the many procedures used to keep all linens, towels, uniforms, crew and guest laundry items cleaned and pressed. Really learned a lot from Housekeeper about the Laundry and his department. Of the 2 components, I enjoyed the laundry tour more. Next tour was the Engine Control Room Tour, led by Chief Engineer Per. Took us into ECR on Deck A. A room a bit smaller than reg cabin. Wall to Wall Comp monitors and many consoles. All ship systems, diesel electric motors and engines are monitored by a motorman 24/7. Didn't realized how complex our cruise ships' systems are. The Chief Engineer and his men are very intelligent and dedicated to the safety of ship and all aboard. Answered all questions from us, and not in a hurry to finish. I highly recommend the ECR tour. Time well spent.
  7. On Star now. Have received extra reservations in Manfredis, no problem. Maitre D, Alex is very accommodating, especially if wanting 7:30 or later.
  8. Hello @Sleep7 Thank you for your kind comments. 2nd Sea day now. Will soon post what I did yesterday. Something odd today on ship: heading eastbound so will lose 2 hours from HNL time to PT. Ships clocks moved forward 1 hour at 10 AM. Thanks for following.
  9. Thanks for your response. The fire location was laundry. Sorry, can't remember where assembly point was. Probably just a coincidence that it was during drill. Never experienced it before or since.
  10. Forgot to say, this was an Alaska/Canada voyage. Such natural beauty.
  11. Occasionally enjoy fine bourbons. Was in Expl Lounge a few days ago, and at next table, overheard another pax order Maker's. Not on ANY bar menu -- only 2, Wild Turkey regular and Jim Beam. Was curious, so I asked him about it. Yes, they have many fine bourbons onboard. Last night at Aquavit Terrace Bar saw Woodford Reserve, Bulleit, Grand Dad -- reg, Buffalo Trace, Kentucky something. Asked bartender if these are on the SSBP. Yes, said anything displayed is available on pkg. and also available at all bars. Real nice!
  12. No trouble at all. In cabin now. Finally found out how to rotate photos. Also posting room items price list. I think I'll order 2 tissue boxes, a toothbrush holder, and a soap dish!! Breakfast room service is always on time, and items of a high quality -- hot items hot, cold - cold. Much better breakfast room service menu than my previous cruise -- dif line. Have not ordered from 24 hour menu, this voyage.
  13. On Regatta, September 2023, 2 special nights in TC featured coho salmon. Cooked several ways, including grilled. What a beautiful display, with whole fish as the centerpiece of the grilling station. The chefs must of bought a lot locally, because this salmon appeared in restaurants for several days after. So delicious!
  14. Question for experienced mariners, @chengkp75 @Heidi13 And anyone else. Had about a1 hours crew drills yesterday, including closing of fire and water tight doors. Took shower during and very minimal to no hot water, also at sink/basin. Do they shut down hot water systems during such a drill?
  15. Was also hoping for a Greek themed buffet. On prior Greek Odyssey, it was terrific and very authentic.
  16. Tonight in WC was a Hawaiian themed culinary dinner. Lots of Hawaiian items... entrees and desserts. The Suckling Pig above.
  17. Salad -- Asparagus, with basil infused goat cheese/ricotta So tender and delicious.
  18. Dinner In The Restaurant tonight. Our favorite waiter Reino (1 of them, they are all wonderful), brought us an appetizer cheese plate, without us asking. Such personalized service!
  19. Asked for table on Port side in The Restaurant tonight. Was accommodated,no problem. Thanks to all for responses.
  20. IMO, the ESS was FDR, Jr's 1st priority -- fill those berths, and it worked. We booked Alaska on Regatta for 07 September 2023 A real nice fare.
