  1. This will be a hot button item, but I am curious the answer to this question if anyone has an answer.

When you order a drink an on NCL (an most other lines) a 18% Gratuity is automatically gets put on the cost of the drink. Where does this money go? Into the server or bartenders hand or is it pooled? Does the cruise line take a portion of the 18% for themselves?

Also, I have always been one to tip for great service, but do not tip for bad service. If I am out at a bar at home and a bartender makes a good drink and is attentive, I tip well. When they are not and I have a hard time getting a drink or the drink is crap, I won't always tip.

Would you rather not have the 18% automatically applied and tip accordingly for the type of service given or do you like not having to worry about it and it being automatically included?

Just curious on everyones thoughts on this!

    THANKS!

When you leave a tip at a restraurant do you have any idea how much the server actually gets to keep?

  2. Also from the CBP FAQ site:

Prescription medications should be in their original containers with the doctor's prescription printed on the container. It is advised that you travel with no more than personal use quantities, a rule of thumb is no more than a 90 day supply.

****If your medications or devices are not in their original containers, you must have a copy of your prescription with you or a letter from your doctor. A valid prescription or doctors note is required on all medication entering the U.S. *****

  3. Originally posted by BirdTravels When we post passenger counts from our cruises, we get the information from signs posted in the crew areas during the platinum behind the scenes tours.

For example, from our Memorial Day cruise on the Breakaway

    Breakaway Capacity 3963

    Total passengers 4764

    Total US 4379

    Total Non-US 394

    Total Crew 1627

    1-10 years old 200

    11-20 years old 476

    21-50 years old 2023

    51-70 years old 1496

    71+ years old 382

    Average Age 42.6

    4379 + 394 = 4773 so I guess there were 9 stowaways?

Using the age breakdown there must have been 187 passengers under the age of 1(not counting the stowaways)

  4. Sounds like the OP is directing his frustration at the wrong institution. I think he should be directing his issues to the CC issuer for shutting off the account completely instead just suspending it. The discussion on manual entry of the account number is moot as he didn't have a physical card in his possession. Just out of curiosity, Lax18str, did you receive a refund to the shutoff cc for the drink and dining packages that were prepaid and not received?

  5. That could have been me. We took our elderly parents on a cruise (All four of them, 2 in a wheelchair and one with a walker.) I found my dad (with dementia and a bad heart) in the cafeteria with a plate heaping with artery clogging bacon. I took his plate, put it down and took my parents to the dining room for breakfast.

Is the bacon they serve in the dining room non-artery clogging?

  6. "We moved about two months ago. We don't need additional documentation in that, do we? We have not changed our driver's license, and don't intend to until they expire in 2019. Our daughter and her family still live in our old home. "

Lady bebop, I suggest you check with your new state's DMV on requirements to obtain new DL. Did you update your car insurance?

  7. Thanks, I checked this site out and its actually cheaper then parking at the port!

You may have pay for a shuttle/taxi to the cruise terminal; but, I think, paying a few bucks to save a shipload of stress is money well spent.:)

I took a cruise out of Seattle and flew in from Nashville on cruise day. I was stressed from 3AM when we left the house until we boarded at 2PM.
