  1. A helpful tip I’ve picked up is a travel journal. You can write down things about the trip and ports etc. This has helped DH and I not only to remember where we have been but when we recall the trip and he asks remember that guy oh what was his name I most likely wrote about it. Might not help you for the past but something for the future.

  2. huh? is this a Carnival policy? cuz the only times I have ever seen exceptions to the age requirement is when you are on orders. not even the Coast Guard would consider a Carnival cruise job related.

besides your average 20 year enlistee isn't going to have time to take Leave in most cases.

    From Carnival FAQ website

Exceptions: Guests under the age of 21 may travel without a relative or guardian of 25 years of age or older under the following conditions:

    Qualified Military Personnel

    • Applies to US Military Personnel and Canadian National Defense personnel (and their traveling companions in the same stateroom) of 18 – 20 years of age.
    • Copy of proof of service must be provided at embarkation. Failure to provide documentation or not conforming to this policy will result in denied boarding and no compensation will be provided.

Military personnel receive 30 days of leave (vacation) a year so why wouldn't they have time to go on a cruise?

  3. Well, because when I get on the ship, there’s a lot of people there. And throughout the cruise there’s a lot of people there. And when I get off the cruise, there’s still a lot of people there. Telling me a vast majority of people on that cruise did not fly home early.

How do you know that they weren't still there because they didn't have a passport to be able to depart early. :)

  4. I also found a guy filling the insulated coffee pot he received during his morning breakfast and taking it back to his room. Thought that was pretty smart to keep it and use the rest of the cruise through out the day. He did mention he washed it out after each fill.

I pretty sure I 'm not the guy you saw, but I learned that trick from my brother on my first cruise in 2005. Had to hide the carafe from the cabin steward each day so he wouldn't take it when cleaning the room.

  5. Which the OP could have easily found by typing "ships in port" into Google and clicking on the very first hit.

    DON

It came up as the second hit when I googled "ships in port" but yeah google is a good resource. :)

  6. I have found that for the most part, bartenders will avoid or ignore guests with the soda cups, or they would tell me to use a freestyle machine. There were a few exceptions of course, and I made sure to tip them individually.

So this is not your first experience purchasing the soda package on a ship with Freestyle machines? But you were surprised by the 18% added charge?

  7. First time cruisers in inside cabins *are* TP. Surely you don't expect me to wipe my own butt, do you? I happen to be meteor status on Zap cruise lines and this is just one more bit of personal service they provide. Royal needs to step up or I will be doing my business elsewhere.

Hopefully not at the potty pads for the service animals.
