  1. These are all very valid points and ones the OP should definitely take into consideration. I absolutely agree that the terminal parking would make the most sense in this situation, but I know there are people who choose cheaper rates over convenience and just wanted to let the OP know that if he really preferred parking off the pier area that he could still drop his wife and scooter and luggage off. As he is someone coming in who is not familiar with Manhattan, I would also suggest parking at the terminal.
  2. Even if you park somewhere other than the terminal, you can still drive into the terminal pretty much right to the ship. You can drop off your wife, scooter and luggage and then go park your car and meet you wife back at the terminal. Good luck and enjoy!
  3. Read Birdtravels thread on this board. He/she just got off the Breakway and posted many of the menus.
  4. Thank you so much for checking. That was really nice of you! Appreciate the info.
  5. You can also check on your Roll Call to see if anyone else has received theirs yet. It could give you some peace of mind and an idea of when you should get it.
  6. Thank you to everyone for their responses. You have all been very helpful!
  7. We are interested in trying the MSC YC on the Meraviglia. I've been studying the deck plans and looking at youtube videos but still have some questions. Are there elevators within the YC complex? I see the lift on the deck plans but they appear to be outside the complex. There looks to be a lift inside but it's not labeled on the deck plans. And again without labels it's hard to tell, but are there restrooms in the common spaces of the complex, such as the sun deck? Lastly, (for now! LOL!) we were looking at the YC Royal suite. It appears that there are very tall windows on the front balcony by the table and hot tub. Do these stop and leave a gap for air circulation or are they attached like a greenhouse or solarium? Just wondering how hot this space would be. Thanks for any information!
  8. Don't panic. Mine came about 6 days before our cruise. From what I understand they are issuing them by date of the ship's arrival. I would wait until 3-4 days before if you don't receive it. As long as you were sent the initial confirmation and uploaded your VAX card you should be fine.
  9. Thank you so much for taking us along with you. I love your live reports. Did you happen to notice if there was a scale in the gym area? We'll be on the Breakaway in October and DH is supposed to weigh himself every day. Thanks!
  10. Is there still the $35 cap on the entree costs?
  11. We had Covid back in May. I tested using an at home antigen test on day 12 after symptoms and was negative. At this point it seems that you will either have to test negative and board the ship or test positive and get a refund. I would keep testing at home and hope for a negative test. Good luck!
  12. I believe that the upcoming sailing on August 21 of the Breakaway from NY has a similar circumstance. It is sailing from Florida to New York without passengers and isn't scheduled to arrive until 2;30 and scheduled to depart at 11pm. Maybe keep an eye on that roll call and it will give you an idea of what you can expect. It seems the big issue is that they are allowing people to pick check in times starting at 9am before the ship even arrives. Though, at least once they dock and clear the ship you should be able to get onboard and go directly to your stateroom as there will be no disembarking passengers. Also, remember that you will need to pay tax on any drinks you order while docked at the pier in NY. Enjoy!
  13. Well, here's another trick one of our Concierges used. We had made some dinner reservations prior to boarding but then changed some of them once onboard. I kept seeing the old reservations still in my account so mentioned to the Concierge they were still showing and I wanted to make sure I wasn't charged as a no-show. He said to not worry about it, he was keeping the reservations active in case one of his other guests wanted a reservation at that restaurant but he would be sure to cancel it for me before the reservation time. I thought that was really clever of him. And of course there was Concierge Alex Forbes whom I asked one morning if he could get me a table in Le Bistro for that evening to which he said, "If I can't get you a table, I'll build you one." LOL! Of course that was before the FAS dining package made reservations tougher to get.
  14. Did they check the expiration dates on the test? The ones we got for free expired in about 2 months but the expiration date was extended. Just wondering if they would accept tests that were extended or if they would only go by the expiration on the box. Thanks!
  15. I would think that Canada will relax their protocols soon. If I'm reading the government web site correctly, you no longer need to show a negative test if you are fully vaccinated and entering Canada. It does use the term "entering by land, air, or water" which is a little unclear since as of now cruise ship passengers to Canada still need to provide a negative test. All we can do is wait and see what happens.
  16. We've stayed in 15000 on the Gem, which is similarly situated. You really wouldn't hear anything from the pool deck as far as chair being dragged. However, when they had the band playing at the pool you could hear it in the cabin even with the balcony doors closed. If you had the TV on it covered the noise, but there was definitely some sound bleed. It didn't really bother us and the band usually stopped playing by 10 or 11.
  17. Just check the program every day. There may be port days when the dining room isn't open for lunch.
  18. My guess on the sleeping arrangement is; 2 in Master bedroom, 2 in second bedroom (one upper and one lower) the lower bed is not really good for 2 people unless they are small children. That would have put the 5th person on the sleeper sofa in the living room. If they replaced the sleeper sofa with a regular sofa then that may be an issue. Many of the sofas on NCL are not really full size sofas. They are often more a love seat size or maybe a little bigger, not really something someone would want to sleep on for a week. the only other option would be a rollaway, which would be a bit of a pain. I'm with many of the others here. I would take my own balcony cabin with a real bed and my own bathroom over a sofa bed any time. To the OP. I hope you're able to work this out somehow and don't let this spoil your cruise.
  19. Not sure if it's still the case, but it used to be that the Main Dining Room was more "formal" and you needed to wear long pants for dinner. In Magenta you could wear shorts at dinnertime.
  20. Instead of a doctor's note, try taking an at home antigen test, most likely you will come up negative on the antigen test. We did this 2 weeks after having Covid and were negative. If you test negative then get a home proctored test or lab administered test to have an official negative test printout. Just make sure you do an antigen as the PCR can come up positive for a while. Good luck!
  21. While you may not get the actual authorisation until closer to your cruise date, you should have received a notice of your application submission and been assigned a number for each application. If you didn't receive that then you may want to call. The fact that you can see the charge is reassuring though. Good luck, we've been though this twice now and it is nerve wracking!
  22. Ah, I thought there was something about under 16's. Thanks for checking. Enjoy!
  23. Enjoying your reviews very much. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the hot tubs have signs saying you must be 16(?) to use them Those kids in the picture look awfully young.
