  1. Regent went through a period some years back in which they had Cirque-type shows. It didn’t last long. I think NCL uses resident troupes for their acrobatic shows. Regent would have to use guest entertainers because the small size of the ships dictates that any resident performers must be versatile so that they can serve multiple purposes.
  2. You’re given a choice of boarding times.
  3. The main advantage is getting first crack at boarding times.
  4. @Mike Moore, do you happen to know whether, with Starlink, we would be able to use Zoom without having to purchase the upgraded wifi? I expect to have some meetings during the world cruise, and it would be nice to avoid the extra expense and limitation to one log-in that comes with the upgrade.
  5. Be aware that, if you pay for the upgraded “streaming” wifi, you get only one login. Even if you have a loyalty status or cabin type that entitles you to multiple logins, you can only use your login info for one device at a time. Which means that, if you want to keep a second device logged in, the only way to do it is to log in using your cabin-mates login info (assuming you aren’t solo). And your cabin-mate cannot use your upgraded wifi unless s/he uses your login info and you are logged out of all devices.
  6. Considerably more wines are available as included wines than are on that list. I don’t think they even put the wines on the bar list anymore because that is so misleading. Or maybe I stopped noticing it because, if I want wine at the bar, I’ll ask for what I want. Usually, if it’s not on hand at that particular bar, someone will track down a bottle from another bar or dining room.
  7. My experience has been in by 9 am, back with the turndown service that evening. Those with butlers may have a different experience, but this has been what I’ve seen in the regular cabins.
  8. Alex, previously Assistant Cruise Director, was taking over as CD of Voyager when we disembarked last month. David Nevin had been CD until then, but he left for vacation the day we got off.
  9. As mentioned above, some ports may require that you get off and clear immigration, though that will be rare. U.S. ports are the most notorious for this—and for requiring that the entire ship be cleared before anyone can get back on. If you are talking about the 2024 WC, the only segment turnaround in the U.S. is between the first and second, which clears in San Francisco. It will be up to the CBP office there as to whether they’ll require a full clearance. The other turnaround ports seem unlikely to have this requirement, but I can’t be sure. No need to stay out until all cabins are cleaned. For world cruisers, it’s just another day as far as cleaning is concerned. Because the WC initially sold out (they only opened up segments to sell once they started getting the inevitable cancellations), I think it’s safe to assume that full cruisers will be in the majority. I have been on grand voyages—including one last year—in which full cruisers were in the distinct minority, but Regent made sure that we were as little inconvenienced as possible on turnaround days.
  10. We were on a 2+ month grand voyage in Europe last year on Splendor. They were able to break larger euro bills early on, but for the last 6 weeks or so of the voyage, they could not do so. They only had larger bills in euros. We asked why not, and the odd answer was that the ship wasn’t going to be in the euro zone long enough to make it worthwhile. Even though it would be in that area for several more weeks. Yeah, I know.
  11. Usually there is dance music after dinner in Galileo’s, the rear observation lounge. Whether people actually dance will vary from cruise to cruise.
  12. The thrift store does sell them—people find them useful I guess as travel folders. It’s better than filling up landfills with them. And my financial charitable donations are made to the entities I support. According to the email, people will get by regular mail the basic documents and the reinforced paper bag tags. Even if you don’t know how to turn on a computer, that is enough to get you onto the ship.
  13. I learned something new today. I’m currently on Navigator, and since I have some zoom meetings during the cruise (and have more OBCs than I know what to do with), I opted for the upgraded wifi. Although my cabin mate and I have 4 logins, the upgraded wifi is good only on one device. That’s fine, since I really only need it on my ipad. But it means that I cannot log into wifi on my phone without either completely logging out on my ipad, or using my cabin mate’s credentials on my phone. Note that this is not a complaint—either workaround is easy enough—I’m just sharing it as a fact that others might want to know.
  14. If you go here https://www.rssc.com/cruises/NAV230505/summary and click on Freeport, you can see a list of typical offerings in Freeport. It doesn't distinguish between Regent Choice and included excursions, but does show a couple of beach excursions. Destination Services should be a total zoo that first day. @GeorgiaPeach51 I look forward to cruising with you again,
  15. I’ve been cruising Regent for a while now, and have received multiples of the various types of packaging they use. I recently took most of them to a local mission for its thrift store, and requested through my TA that Regent stop sending that packaging. It’s nice, but I don’t need it, and Regent doesn’t need the small extra expense. So yesterday I received my package for my upcoming May 5 cruise. And they honored my request. No outer bag, no portfolio folder. They also left out the various brochures and booklets that I’ve seen oh-so-many times. Just the paper folder, the summary, and the luggage tags. That works for me, for Regent, and for the landfill.
  16. Spa. Boutique. High-end wine or whisk(e)y. Cigars. The wine lunch or one of the liquor tastings. Bingo. Regent Choice excursions. Cooking class on Explorer or Splendor. Buy a robe. One hopes not needed, but: the medical center.
  17. I’m also on that cruise. That 5:00 am move is to a different part of the island—St. George’s. I’m not sure why we couldn’t get a day in Hamilton, but if we’re going to overnight in Bermuda, I much prefer it be in Hamilton, where we can wander straight off the ship into the heart of town for the evening, than in St Georges, which is a ghost town in the evening.
  18. I love the Navigator. It’s a sweet, intimate ship. One small caution: we were on her soon after the re-start, and the shower in our cabin was in pretty bad shape. Clearly issues from the long lay-up. I hope that they have been addressed by now.
  19. That's enough for all who want them. You will never find all the passengers out on the decks. Ever. I've sailed more than 400 nights on Regent, and never once seen anything close to every seat taken or "reserved." Even when it's crowded, not all the chairs are taken. Only the more desirable ones.
  20. They often run at full capacity, at least pre-covid. It’s just that the capacity is much lower than on mass market cruises. But there are usually enough loungers for all who want them. The problem is with the more desirable loungers. Those would be the ones on the pool deck in the shade. Most of the ships also have some on the sports deck in the shade, but that’s one deck up from the pool and there often isn’t bar waiter service up there. There are usually plenty of chairs in the sun. But Regent attracts mostly a demographic that has learned better than to sit in the sun for an extended period.
  21. Instead of worrying about an override, what I did was start refilling my 90-day prescriptions as soon as they were eligible (on my plan, that’s 61 days). Because I was booked well enough in advance of sail date, by the time I left I had stockpiled enough to last the cruise.
  22. There’s also the issue of someone being IN the pool or hot tub. Yes, some of us do stay in the pool for more than 30 minutes if the water is pleasant.
  23. Thanks all for the info. We've decided to go with the room with the foldout couch.
