  1. Good surprise # 2 When chatting with Princess this week we found out something new . Our friends have never cruised Princess before but they had heard us talk about the Chef 's Table . We were concerned that with a party of 7 , it would be hard to be picked . But , when we talked to Princess we found out that there would be 4 Chef ' s Tables and she then asked if we would like to book now ? Even better , we will have a Kitchen Tour like the old days BC ( before Covid ) . Yeah Princess !
  2. When we booked this cruise this week , we got 3 prices . CC was first but they linked us to Princess . Our TA was second and an unnamed agency was 3rd . They all had the same price on the same room . One thing that we noticed on the unnamed agency was that they worked with a company that could finance the cruise for 18 months . We phoned our TA and she had not heard of the company . She checked up on them and applied to offer this service to all of her future bookings . The company said that it would take 10 days to process and approve of her . There was a 35% reduction in price and we asked if we could book this cruise with the agency with no hard feelings since we needed to get busy . With her approval , we booked with the agency . The agent that we spoke to gave us about $ 500 credit to spend on board only as a loyalty perk and about a $ 2000 price reduction !! Cruise deal done ! Is this a great country or what ? 🦅
  3. Sorry for the powered scrambled eggs appearance of the previous post . I copied and pasted it from Princess but this is not the way it looked on their web sight . Perhaps I will have to work on my proper English as I speak mostly American and it sometimes gets lost in translation . 😉

  5. You're welcome . We usually book aft corner suites on our other favorite cruise line for the wake show . The only full suites that we saw were the Penthouse Suites on the side . We chose Starboard as it faces the land the most . We like your locations . We went to Kauai and San Francisco for our anniversary last March .
  6. Thanks , we just booked it this week when we had dinner with our friends and they told us about it . Less than 40 days before we fly to London .
  7. What the red arrow points to is 2 aft facing mini suites that are larger then the mini suites above , but have no sink . The arrow began at our suite .
  8. This will be a cruise of many firsts . First live , first time on a diet to lose weight , first European cruise on the Caribbean Princess , first side suite and first time traveling with our adopted family from home and 5 first time ports . Portland ( Weymouth ) , Falmouth , Cornwall , Kirkwall , Scotland ,The Port of Cobh , Ireland , Grundarfjordur , Iceland and Edinburgh Scotland . The Caribbean , Princess is and old friend and here she is at sea. She has 2 viewing points forward . Blue is the Bow and Red is over the Bridge This aft view is from the Regal and shows where our aft suite originates on the CB and points to larger . We would cruise the CB after we returned from our Regal cruise . The photo is taken in our home port of Port Everglades .
  9. Spotted Eagle Ray on the upstroke And gliding Say Ah ! Great Barracuda having it teeth cleaned by a small cleaner fish in it 's mouth The flash scared the cleaner fish but the Cuda stayed with us Nurse Shark on a break And a swim over with a Remora attached Don't feed the sharks
  10. Thank you . And like @AroundWithMAPTravels , we sometimes visit graveyards around the world as we travel . We use to home school our kids until High School and one Fall we went to New Hampshire . We visited a graveyard there and they had tombstones showing and dating back to our War of Independence . We were humbled there at their sacrifice to establish this country , separate from Europe .
  11. First of all , thank you for you service . We have Veterans Day on 11-11 ( Armistice Day ) which acknowledges veterans that are living as well as fallen . Memorial Day is more for the fallen , but I got off topic . For me , seeing the planes of many nations in San Diego reminded me of my childhood in Miami in the early 50's . They had planes from the war parked at MIA and we used to go inside of them as my father would tell us about his plane as we would go inside of the PBY through the open blisters .
  12. The strobe flash brings out the color Tickling a lobster on a night dive A spiny lobster on a night dive A Stoplight Parrot fish Seahorse
  13. Every Memorial Day we remember the men and women who paid the ultimate price , to give their lives in the service of our country . It is remembered and honored every day in the Arlington National Cemetery by the Old Guard and the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier . Every day because of the deaths of ongoing conflicts and aging war veterans , there are currently about 25 funerals a day there . My wife's uncle's remains , along with those who died with him in a bomber flight over enemy territory during WW II , are buried there in a mass grave with a single headstone with their names on it . Together in life and after life . He was my mother in law's , twin brother Charles who she never met . He died at the age of 19 . I had a friend the same age as me who was a neighbor that died in Vietnam and is buried there also . Some how as a veteran I can help remembering my father who is dead now , but flew in the Navy during WW II . Especially when we visited the San Diego Air and Space Museum during a cruise on HAL . They had a model and a plane like the one that he was in as a Radioman during WW II . Notice the pontoons on the ends of the wings that are not shown on the plane for landing in the water . It was used mainly for rescue but carried machine guns in the nose and the side blisters . https://sandiegoairandspace.org/collection/item/consolidated-pby-5a-catalina This plane is in the largest hall in the museum - The Pavilion of Flight where we ate lunch in it's shadow . My wife's mom and dad met in Germany after the war where he was stationed and she worked at the USO there . I served in the Navy during the Vietnam era as a Corpsman , but it ended before I was deployed in the field . Instead I was assigned to the Camp Lejeune Marine base hospital . The closest that I came to combat was the Yom Kipper War in October 1973 . The war began on 6 October 1973, when the Arab coalition jointly launched a surprise attack against Israel on the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur, which had occurred during the 10th day of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan in that year.[67] Following the outbreak of hostilities, both the United States and the Soviet Union initiated massive resupply efforts to their allies (Israel and the Arab states respectively) during the war,[68][69][70] which led to a confrontation between the two nuclear-armed superpowers.[71] Wikipedia I was in the process of being deployed with a Marine Company when the war ended in less than 3 weeks . I thank God everyday that I didn't have to see combat , and for the men and women still serving our great country , the land of my birth . The Bible says in John 15:13 " No one has greater love than the one who gives his life for his friends. "
  14. Our Uber has arrived with our favorite Captain , Smiley and favorite Dive Master Matu . After dive dinner with our favorite dive crew Me , Matu , Phil a ski instructor at Park City , Myrna a Navy Captain nurse who teaches trauma management at Johns Hopkins , Karen who own a 3 story house in Park City and Pat . Phil and I photographing a Giant Sting Ray sandwich on the sand flats . The urge to submerge . Thumbs up on the surface is OK . Underwater , the signal to surface . The reclusive Splendid Toad Fish found almost only in Cozumel lured out of it's den . Phil luring a Toad Fish from its den with a hook less lure .
  15. More sea life with my Sea Life camera in Cozumel Honeycomb cowfish hard to see it's horns from the front Our Avatar Spotted Scorpionfish . Note the eyes and lips and it has venom in it's spines Man eating octopus
  16. We are looking at a cruise on another line and would like to take this tour . Can you tell us which tour that you took from Ice Paradise Tours and if 0800 - 2200 would be enough time to take the tour . Thank you .
  17. @mexico8 it seems like PV is your favorite city in Mexico . Ours as SCUBA divers is San Miguel , Cozumel . And my favorite fish is a Wifefish @ 100 ' . A Queen Angel Fish photobombed us !
  18. Thanks .We visited PV twice in 2022 on Panama Canal crossings in the Spring from Ft. Lauderdale and the Fall from Vancouver ( Alaska first ) . But there were no wheels on the rocking horses like on the Amazing Race when we first saw them The boy is wearing a local hat
  19. We went up to the Retreat to watch the Magic sail away The Magic was gone Replaced by a sunset
  20. The Ships The Blue Glow beneath the Nieuw Amsterdam The island lived up to it's T - shirt slogan for us
  21. Yes , that was a first for us . The crew are paid professionals who should have tailed their target group closely . They had a crew member who was with them filming their group in the car and the other crew who got lost . They should have been in radio contact and /or waited for the lost crew group to catch up to their assigned group - the mother and her son who were clear contenders . Too many "coincidences " to be believable . Additionally , the race began outside of the US , in Mexico which is the first time that we recall it not beginning in the US . The first and second place teams had Hispanic heritage and language skills and all of the race locations ( except Barbados ) were Spanish speaking . The first place team had a chef on their team and cooking Spanish street food was a task . Finally , they returned to Philadelphia where the first place team had one of it's members reside for a while - many clear advantages to the team that won the Race and had the most weekly wins . It reminded us of the movie Quiz Show where the outcomes were tilted in one direction to boost viewers for the show .
  22. We called for a taxi back to the port and the Queen Bee a lady older than we showed up . We were the only ones and we asked Miss Bee to stop at the airport sign . There was a mock up of John Glenn's capsule , and a Turk's head cacti at the sign . The red cap that tops the cacti is where it got it's name as it resembles a Turkish fez hat . And it's where the Turks islands derives their name . The walk away
  23. The day's menu at the A place The grill Turk's Head Lager The crowd and the big picture
