  1. Coffee that you order at the IC, bakery on Lido, and Princess live on deck 7 are all available for a fee. Regular coffee in the buffet and in the MDR are included in your fare. If you purchased the PLUS fare, all of those beverages will be included. @LilMissK Bon Voyage! I see that you have the Plus package. All will be included, including the fresh juices at Coffee n cones on Lido. Enjoy!
  2. @YehootuWhen were you on the Crown last? I'm getting worried about the condition of the mattresses. I may switch to another sailing on another ship. Crown has many pluses, over the Royal class ships, but a bad bed is not acceptable. TIA
  3. @eclue Please report back here about the beds. Thank you! Good luck...
  4. @Shippy how are you finding the bed? Several here are reporting old and lumpy matresses. That would be very disappointing!
  5. Sorry this has come out as several different posts... Where are the fresh juices offered? Is there a secondary location to get the specialty coffees in the mornings, besides the IC? @Shippy
  6. Thanks for the info about monkey bread and the almond croissant. I love those two options as well.
  7. Thank you @Shippy for taking the time to post about your experiences. Question for you - can you order a full pizza through room service? Is there a charge? Others have posted this is possible, without a charge. I'm looking forward to being on the Crown in August. TIA
  8. I used my OBC to upgrade to premier. Did this at GS as soon as I boarded. No issues. Easy.
  9. Times are always listed on the events page - hours of operation for various venues. If there are any live posts from Sky, of the Patters/events page, you can check there.
  10. @charliedalrymple You can also get your specialty coffees from The Bakery on Lido, forward area of the buffer OR - my favourite spot on Majestic - Princess Live bar. Opens at 7:00am. Enjoy! Deck 7 - midship
  11. The Catch is now on the Majestic, deck 7, replacing Sur le Mer. Opened May 5th. Awesome setting. We were seated at the windows on two occasions. Did not find the Piazza activities to interfere with our enjoyment of the experience there. Food was great.
  12. Beverages at the IC are offered for purchase. Tea and coffee are free in the MDR and at the buffet.
  13. @geezlouise2 Thank you for sharing your experience here. I hope you are feeling better and on the mend. I am still testing positive, ten days post cruise. Unlike you though, I did not experience any symptoms until several days after arriving home. My experience is mostly like having the flu, with a cough. Tired. That about sums it up. In my case, not sure which day I picked up the virus, I washed my hands at every opportunity, but alas, gave up wearing my mask towards the end of the week-long cruise. As a number of posters on these boards have reported, they are not interested in wearing masks, reporting, nor taking any extra precautions at this point. C'est la vie. All we can do is monitor our own behaviour. Happy summer - where-ever you are, where-ever you go. May your next adventures be covid-free and filled with interesting sights and people.
  14. @Taykee1 Temperatures on the ship are like at any restaurant. Shed your outer layers for sitting around in public areas. Bring layers of clothing that you can add and subtract. A toque, gloves and decorative scarves (not the woolen type) are also handy to add warmth - if you are prone to feel the cool of air-conditioning inside. Hope this helps. Come and enjoy North America in the summer. Four weeks of summer travel will be lovely. Welcome!
  15. @cruzin4us Bon Voyage, round 2! Dead pelican on your deck...that's a new one to me as well. Hope we don't see more of these odd "duck" incidents...duck duck goose/pelican? Have you come across the fresh juices and where they are offering them? They are included in both the PLUS and the Premier packages. On Majestic, they were offered at the Wakeview Bar in the mornings....best to get them before they start to run out of fruits around 11 am. TIA I'm looking forward to being on the Crown in August. Will be following quite a few of your findings. Enjoy Round 2. Which dining room did you find to have the most accommodating restaurant manager to meet your requests? Did you happen to meet the DORO? Thanks for taking so much time to share your experiences from the ship AND shore.
  16. @mtnesterz The Gong Cha place is now called Princess Live bar and is my place to get morning coffees. Sshh! Don't tell too many others...best kept secret. No lines.
  17. I agree. If you have not already started travelling away from your home, and there are not a whole bunch of moving parts to this booking for you - AND you can travel at another time - GO FOR IT! I accepted a move-over offer once before and hope its happens to me again one day. Win-win - if you can do it.
  18. @palolake My two cents worth - I am also not a fan of the Hollywood Conservatory. When you walk into that area, it reminded me of my local rec centre that I go to for pool exercises. I could see how people would stake out an area and stay for the day, for glacial viewing for example, then it would hard to get a spot if one didn't arrive early and "stake it out". Personally, I would rather view the glaciers from the outer decks. I also miss the Sanctuary - and being able to reserve a spot for half days, with afternoon tea. Other areas that are unique to the Majestic...Harmony restaurant, Chopsticks the Noodle Bar, The Catch (new on May 5th, 2023). We tried out the Noodle Bar - only once. In Alaska, hot soup sounded like a great idea after a morning of touring...NOT so, and to be fair to the staff member - he was overwhelmed by the long line up and no one to assist him. Concept is good, flavours ok, not entirely authentic. The server proceeded to add the condiments of pickled ginger AND chili oil to the bowl of wonton soup and would not listen to a request to omit these two choices, as per our preference. As a lifetime consumer of wonton soup, these two condiments do not automatically go into this dish! OMHO The poor guy was preparing the bowls of soup on his own and it was very clear that the counter was completely understaffed. Not going to blame the cook here. We waited far too long for a bowl of very pedestrian tasting soup with dumplings that were lacklustre in flavour. No green onions sprinkled on top! Did not try out Harmony Restaurant. The original Chinese dishes created by Richard Chen, are no longer offered, but have been replaced instead with Chop .Suey style dishes that can be found in most North American malls and take out joints. Did enjoy The Catch, immensely! This now occupies the space formerly presented as Sur le Mer. Request a table away from the rails, too close to the Piazza. Ask for a table by the window. No wrap around promenade deck on this ship and the walk-about deck aft deck 17 or so, does not give you a full lap for walking. Being so high up as well, it can become quite blustery and cold while cruising in Alaska. I will add - I did enjoy sailing on this ship. Always nice to try out something new. Staff as always, were great in most areas. That's enough from me, for now! Hope this helps you.
  19. @capriccio In response to your question about the noise level and ambiance at The Catch. After all the pre-reading on CC about the tables located too close to the railing and the loud music from the Piazza, I was pleasantly surprised that our experience there was just right. It just happened to be the official opening night of the restaurant, May 5th. We were seated at the window on both occasions, one just at the start of the restaurant and the second time, at the far end forward. We were a party of five - a reunion of sorts. Much wine and conversation was the order of the day and we never once felt that we were IN the Piazza. Our attentive servers provided us with the just the right amount of attention and all five of us LOVED every minute. Hence, we booked the last night of the cruise for our second visit. We were NOT disappointed. I can honestly say, as the coordinator of this group, it was time and money well spent for this experience - with two novice cruisers along for the ride. The table settings and the furnishings felt so fresh and new.
  20. On older ships, mini-suites used to be on deck 9. On the Royal class of ships, they are now spread throughout the ship, on most decks.
  21. @retired2816 Welcome to the land of mini-suites...on Majestic. I sailed on her last week. We had cabin A515 and the midship location was perfect. My first sailing on a Royal class ship was quite daunting with the very long hallways. Midship location is my preference on this ship. You can easily head to the elevators both forward and aft ones to avoid the busier ones at midship during the peak times. Of all of the cabins that you listed, I would choose A315. We also went with the Premium package this time. If you a wine drinker, you will appreciate the better wines at the $20 price point. Be sure to try the wines at Vines. My favourite hangout. As a first time cruiser, you will enjoy the photo package that is included. Be sure to watch for the photographers every evening and heading out to ports and on the seawalk for photo ops. You will get all the photos for downloading at the end of your cruise. Check in at the photo gallery, on the computers to see that ALL of the photos are being downloaded into your account as you go along. I highly recommend a specialty restaurant on the first night of your cruise, to avoid the chaos in the MDR on the first night. We loved THE CATCH so much, we went twice. It was brand new on May 5th. Oh yes, with the premium package, you will also have two specialty dinners included. I hope my suggestions here are helpful to you. Best wishes for you to have an incredible celebration and experience on your first cruise. Bon Voyage! Juice bar with fresh juices at the Wakeview bar - in the mornings. Cheers!
  22. Disembarked from Majestic on Saturday. Never saw any little tables in the hallways. Let down my guard and didn't mask up in the elevators...tested positive on Wednesday, fifth day being home. Didn't fly. Friends that I travelled with also have one person with similar symptoms. Two out of five. This is my first COVID encounter. UGH. Felt tired and achy, then the cough started and the fever...on Monday. Hope it doesn't last too long! Wear those masks....couldn't hurt!
  23. If anyone is sailing on Majestic or Enchanted coming up, I highly recommend THE CATCH! Yes, $39 pp, but very special. Beautiful setting on deck 7 where Sur le Mer was before.
  24. Stay healthy! Masks are still useful... Enjoy the last few days. We didn't go to the shows, ate at a fairly isolated table in one of the small rooms in Allegro. Should have worn a mask on every elevator ride with others! Shoulda, but didn't. 😥
