  1. Ocean view in very front of ship could hear some wind. Oceanview on sides and down low can perhaps be quicker to get to and from. For the most part I like Oceanview as you get the light, but do not have to tolerate balcony noise and the ocean view are a little less money too. But if you go on Oasis class or Quantum class ship and have an ocean view room in very from facing area, be prepared to hear some loud music and bass from the crew bar down under the bow as they have stairs and an opening where the music can drift up. Yes, I have had it happen on three different ships and it takes a struggle with guest services to resolve. And of course nearby passengers who also hear the noise, are reluctant to go and complain. Wasn't I lucky.
  2. yup I was thinking the same and found your reply to agree with. I am so glad that I am very low maintenance. I like interior room, don't drink or gamble and enjoy the buffets as much as MDR. Cruise lines have to try hard to please all types and for the most part they do. But really who needs a butler. oh well.
  3. usually at baggage claim you will see signs from the various cruise lines.
  4. it's all about the journey which can be days or weeks. then in 1 day poof all done. But as of this writing, we still have new Years to look forward to, then Valentines, then Easter as well as tax season. Cycle of life.
  5. I suggested all the kiddies have an hour where they bring the ducks to the pool and let them float around. Or if the pool is empty but the lifeguard is still staring because he has to, then at least put a duck in the water so he has something to look at. ha ha Trends come and go. ya know..............
  6. yup that would be the one. I remembered the name after I hit the submit button. I cancelled my cruise because of that.
  7. looks like a different itinerary than last year. No Africa and No Aust/NZ, Hoping the Suez canal will be safe when the ship enters the area. Have a nice trip. Royal Caribbean is on a 9 month world cruise which I think is too long. It goes down around the cape to Antartica up to Los Angeles and then the rest of the trip has a lot of what Zuidy is doing but they go to Downunder countries. I am surprised both are going to China.
  8. I think the 3rd segment is also interesting as ship goes into the Black Sea to get to countries that most people do on bus tours. Hoping no issues with Suez canal in May. Boy if they had to skip, that would be a big change.
  9. I agree with you a lot. These days I try to go one new ships just for some balance since they go to Caribbean lot. But checking in and out of hotels and a different bed almost every night is not so enjoyable. And a lot of tours feed you at hotels too. Still, for sightseeing, can't beat a good bus tour. One of my other favorites was Switzerland as well as Italy. toodles
  10. what a nice idea. I found two ducks on my CCL Celebration cruise. But the best place to find the ducks, as the folks who work in the main theatre to show you the collection they gather and keep in back. They would be glad to give away some. They find them in the theatre a lot.
  11. yup like what they did in Hawaii and removing the nice coastal part of the cruise. That is when I cancelled the Pride of America. However, for next year I am doing the western med on the Escape because they have the best pricing. Same thing with Viva in 2025 to Greece. Time will tell what changes come up. But for Key West, a lot of other ships were cancelled too.
  12. and those would be two reasons to not bother. No shade and wind. nope I would pass. My favorite place on ship is always the aft area and besides I like to move around every hour or so and try different parts of the ship.
  13. well RCI could do something similar to what Holland did. That ship last year went through Panama Canal and then to South Pacific and Aust/NZ and then over to Indian Ocean and instead of doing Suez Canal, HAL went around Africa and allowed guest to get off on the eastern side to spend a week in land doing African safari's and then those folks caught up with ship on western side and the ship sailed up and into UK and Baltic area. Then home to USA. So, no med or South America and I don't think they did China either. that ship was the Zuiderdam.
  14. well since Oceania is part of NCL group that explains it. NCL struggles more than RCG. Love Globus. I did USA National parks in CO, UT, WY and SD. Great tour toodles
  15. agree everywhere there is tiered pricing. I for one don't want the all-inclusive since I don't drink or gamble or even use internet except for app. Pay as you go is the best way in the end. But I do not like them cutting down on basic quality of say desserts or food in MDR or buffet. So at some point it can be too much cutting down.
  16. thanks for sharing I guess some crew and officers had family on board. And who knew santa could flowride
  17. I agree when I go out of Bayonne I arrive by 10am and then wait around at stores nearby. But last time in October, I actually went to give luggage at 10:15 and got a very good closeup stop in parking lot. So I sat for 45 minutes in the car watching folks walk in and cars coming and going as well.
  18. it has become a bit of a joke. Every port I go to early check in occurs. Same thing with Carnival and Celebrity. Folks have learned to just ignore but once in a while I guess the port might get strict on any given day but for the most part, doors are open and come on in.
  19. not sure except that I have heard of this happening at least 3 times in the last 6 weeks. I would say airfare if purchased on your own would have to be cancelled and get credit. No one loses airfare from most airlines as they give credit good for a year.
  20. it is starting to happen a bit more like with Wonder OTS for instance. Not that often but if I hear it three times in a half year, I wonder why it has to happen. I would never to a Guarantee room.
  21. thanks for your reply. It is folks who are currently on a ship that provide real time information that can be helpful as well as the threads for the new ships being built. But it looks liked someone had to provide me with a definition as well. I agree those cruise lines that have it or inclusive is not something I want to pay for since I do not drink alcohol, nor do I gamble or even use internet. I can get news off the tv and wait until I get home to catch up. I tell my family if a really bad emergency pops up, contact the cruise line and the ship.
  22. no I can't but I would recommend the Thermal Spa on newer NCL ships as they are much bigger and very good.
