Quantum of the Seas -- Recent cruises to Alaska
Oceansaway17 replied to Italy52's topic in Royal Caribbean International
well I hope so as a lot of tours were scheduled for 1-2 pm and now the ship leaves at 3pm. Gonna be a whole of rescheduling and requesting from the vendors to change. My ADV OTS dropped Halifax and I got my OBC refunded but in the last 30 days nothing has opened or shown for Sydney so I guess RCI is trying to create excursions now for this ship that was supposed to go to Halifax. I do not mind as I have been to Halifax 4 times and Sydney only once. -
sorry it just did not seem like the nice place I visited back in the 90's did not mean to insult you but bummer to bummer cars from the Naval port all they way over to Hamilton was not that enjoyable. St Georges is my kinda of place and a few beaches.

sounds like your area has less heat than the southern parts of UK and down into Spain and Italy. -
Flight to Seattle canceled - can we board Eurodam in Juneau?
Oceansaway17 replied to LoraJ's topic in Holland America Line
Oh my sorry to hear this. Newark airport is in the top 5 of all airport having cancels. Again all the airlines need to accommodate the cities that have cruise port. Otherwise, one industry is affecting another. I mean it is a cross country flight and to cancel all seems odd. Best of luck. -
so even though you can upload using computer, I guess still need to use app at checkin for the QR code. I mean I wish this crap would all go away but have to deal with in the 3 weeks and in 6 weeks. two side of Canada on two different ships. grrrrrrrrrr

yes I was thinking the same thing. Sounds like they were flying today and got a notice last night. I feel that the airlines need to be careful cancelling flights to popular airport that cruise ships fly out of. Just saying. then again would it not be nice to have all the cruise lines get together and own an airline and they they control (except weather) flights. just a dream -
well will the information load to the app after putting it on the website. I know cruiselines app will update but will ArriveCan do the same

aw gotch and I can sort of understand too given their $40 fee and also how crowded the island has become over the years. I do love their beaches but not the town of Hamilton.

well now Nov stop not dealing with airlines and weather, I would get off if just for a short while. But starting in cold weather FEB and dealing with planes, nope not in February. But I think November would be rather pleasant on the way to FLL.

yea they neither gained or lost. I do not even bother with the Royal UP as I pick the room I want and stay with it. And I check off not willing to accept upgrade either. -

I just want to know how shore excursions will be handled in Juneau as the ship now arrives in early morning and leaves at 3pm instead of leaving at 8pm. A lot of nice excursions are in mid afternoon like my glacier and Salmon bake. Hoping it gets moved up 3 hours and the salmon is now lunch instead of dinner.. time will tell I guess. Looks like some other ports now leave at 4pm instead of 5 pm. -
one never knows the weather leaving NYC area in advance as well as possible snow.

Perfect Day - Coco Cay Beaches - Disappointed
Oceansaway17 replied to pattycake08's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I think that the nicest easier to walk in and out of is HAL Half Moon Cay. sand is smooth and the beach is a nice long curved style with lots of chairs and hardly any slope at all. Disney beach can be seaweed and lumpy to get in and out of especially after storms. -
New to Royal & I have a lot of questions
Oceansaway17 replied to cruisinqt's topic in Royal Caribbean International
you will have to climb steps to get on the train and it can be a bit bumpy sometimes so be careful of knee. -

Well for Victoria I think if they use this year's itinerary, then you would only have late afternoon in Victoria. The big draw is Buchart Gardens, and you would want a ship that get in earlier perhaps. Juneau has lots to off especially the Roberts Tram that goes up and looks out over the port and then there is a walking trail down (about moderate I would say). However, go out to Mendenhall glacier and walk around and see the nice visitor center as well. Sitka has in town a wonderful trail that goes into a state park. look up Twangster who did a thread on this. Skagway of course has the train and there are a variety of schedule. I did one that involved going into Canada and getting a lunch and seeing the swinging pedestrian bridge. Skagway has some interesting shops at the train station. But for fun I like Ketchikan for totum poles and luberjack show. If you can swing it, try doing a back-to-back and perhaps you can also get Icy Point as well. -
