  1. I do wish Viking would return to the Covid days of serving from the buffet in the WC and pool grill. People can be so careless! How did you determine juice was powder...did you ever have breakfast in dining room ? last year is was freshly squeezed...I did not know gelato was cream free, I have had decaf tea numerous times. BUT it has been almost a year since we last sailed. Hope for your sake your cruise is over soon!
  2. They were aboard once when we were sailing and we never saw them out and about! I would be they did not sit on the furniture in public areas either!
  3. On another site someone was describing a woman who had brought her own battery powered BLENDER and was using it on the pool deck!!! Perhaps she was blending her "companion dog's" breakfast and did not want the smell in her cabin!!! I guess I will be OK with ball caps in the diningrooms vs pooches on the couches!
  4. do you have terrible seats since it is so close to your departure date?
  5. When does you cruise leave? I agree sounds "bait and switch"
  6. Reports from another site state the railing has been removed for maintenance. No indication that it is a permanent closure. jonthomas I also don't like it when there is a beautiful day the roof is closed! On the newer ships the windows on the sides DO open. It is too hot to enjoy lunch in the Grill!
  7. How are they cleaning staterooms after a DOG has been in it? Even if you are not severely allergic to dogs the smell of dogs can be bothersome. Where are they going to the bathroom? I am not pleased if this is the new norm. But then again we know Finse and how Karine loves him...maybe Viking wants to become a dog friendly line. Personally I hope they add NO animals to their list of NO's that encourage many of us to travel with them. I am not talking about true SERVICE dogs for the blind etc.
  8. would you please share this customer focused company? I so want to trust Vantage and book one of their trips ( we have had 3 great River Cruises, Irrawaddy, Amazon and Mekong, with them) but until these negative comments stop we won't risk our money, peace of mind or hassle free travel!
  9. interesting thought....If you do not have the SS package mixers might be a cost...how much is a cherry worth? or sweet vermouth and bitters? Bartenders will open a bottle of wine for you without a charge but mixing a cocktail I think is stretching Viking's policy. Although given the wanting please culture of Viking staff I bet they would!
  10. The overturn accident did NOT occur on a Viking Zodiac. I also wonder how that occurred! Antarctica is not for the timid!
  11. I was late once and someone took all my underwear! I was NOT late another time and someone took my very damp clothes out of the drier because HER wash cycle WAS finished. Another time someone shrieked at me because I was putting a second load into the machine after I took out the first. I just have bad luck....We once had the room across from the laundry and I was very nervous about the noise....GREAT room...no noise and quick access to laundry ( I even went in my robe once)! BUT once I had a cameo spot in "Cruising with Jane McDonald" ( British TV) on the SKY when she was doing a review!
  12. We saw an amazing horse show in Lima and had a wonderful experience at an estancia outside Buenos Aires. But back to the Danube any other suggestions? We will have a day in Bucharest between the Pre- Extension in Transylvania and the beginning of the cruise which will have a lengthy included tour. Should we plan an excursion through Viking or on our own OR just wander a bit? Sharkset was 2 optional tours did you take that you enjoyed?

AGAIN wish gratuities were part of the mandatory fare....I wonder what percentage of folks opt out.
  14. Has anyone heard rumors about a more robust Explore Society program?
  15. Yes it does...and the zodiac accident indirectly led to death of the passenger when the Rogue wave hit the Polaris and blew out windows when they were heading back to Ushuaia EARLY to get medical care for the women with the broken leg. It was certainly a tragedy for all aboard.
  16. YES!! Lots of repeats ( welcome, farewell, Viking Explorer's Society...BUT the lectures are different because the itinerary is different and sometimes there is a craft person for a segment. We changed CDs a couple of times so the entertainment varied a bit. Chef's table menus changed as did Manfredi's. We did a 4 segment last March/April and thoroughly enjoyed it. We did not change cabins. Second Best Spring ever...Best was on a World Cruise!
  17. MikieF please let us know how the trip is once you are onboard...
  18. We did a garden tour when we stopped last year with a revised itinerary from Buenos Aires to Barcelona. It was gorgeous in the Spring sunshine. We thought it would be a great spot to just BE for a number of days. We did not do the ride down the hill...maybe next time!
  19. nope...and I have husband who LOVeS ball caps but he knows where to wear them! Even our very relaxed sailing club does NOT allow them in the dining room! Clean tshirts and flip flops are ok ...take off your cap and silence the phone!
  20. one's head will not get cold in a restaurant on the ship ...I am betting an upscale restaurant will not allow caps. Medical reason ok ...not many of those on a cruise ship!
  21. I have never seen someone without clothes in the sauna or cold pool in the women's locker room and we use the Spa frequently. I have seen it VERY crowded it must depend on the cruise ...and how many sea days! I never tip the bucket on my head. Make sure to wear shoes into the snow room it can be VERY icy and take in a towel to sit on.
  22. Basic manners hats are NOT appropriate at the table! My 13 year old grandson knows this!!!
  23. We had wonderful "art" class last year. Also great time to do laundry and plan your next cruise with the consultant. I do not remember YOGA or stretching classes except on our WC. We love SEA days especially when they are sporadic during a port intensive cruise rather than multiples days in a row!
