  1. The medallion didn’t seem to stop the bad press.
  2. Dress to impress but I don’t think it’s compulsory anymore. Usually on the second night but there could be another on the second last night on a 9 nighter. Lobster should be on the second night and there’s a rumour if you want more than 2 lobsters each there’s a charge. You don’t get charged on P&O but then you don’t get lobster .
  3. They used to have watermelon marinated in balsamic vinegar in solarium bistro, try it. You get coastal kitchen in the evening, you will find availability after the second night.Star class usually go to the specialty restaurants after then or get it delivered. Its a lovely venue but I’m not really into fine dining , small portions spaced out. I’m just not that cultured.
  4. That’s what I have always thought. I have had this discussion many times and from memory the 18% is on top of the bar price. Not included.
  5. There’s 2 restaurant systems, the main kitchen and the specialty. Solarium is part of the specialty system and it is mostly complementary,a couple of upcharge like lobster, lamb chops, big steak. Strangely you have to book , I have turned up and it was empty and they said you can book in 15 minutes .
  6. Have you ever been to Guam? I did a lot of diving in my younger days and Guam was the main hub for Micronesia diving. Guam is kind of cross between a small Waikiki and a big military base and a rural pacific island. Not really a tourist destination. I remember sitting in a American fast food restaurant and the Islanders where riding a water buffalo through the drive though to get their burgers. That was the most memorable thing in Guam, a real clash of cultures.
  7. I’m surprised Boracay isn’t a port that RC is interested in . From what I’ve been told Japan is selling very well with Spectrum.
  8. Hong Kong cruise terminal is no more,it’s now a quarantine station.
  9. In the days before tilt trays ,tow trucks all run on petrol . A lot of them had a long hose and a electric pump. They never bought petrol.
  10. Actually with the double points deal they had in the pandemic you only get 3 points in a suite. Royal Caribbean seems to have their own kind of mathematics. It goes like this ,in a suite you get your standard point plus a bonus for the suite. You only get the pandemic double on the standard point not the suite point.
  11. BIG GAV , uncle Les I’ll give you a phone number Tracey but not here ,there’s to many spies.
  12. You get full suite benefits but you won’t get the extra Crown & Anchor point for the grand suite. You get free internet, concierge ,ship tours, coastal kitchen , happy hour with booze, jump the lines ect
  13. First few nights it’s a lovely place until people find out. There’s a cook that will come out and talk about what you want. But they do take away !!! You can order, they give you a tray with the plate covers and take it back to your balcony.
  14. You know they do take away or take out as the Americans say. Hit the salad bar and even a lobster and take it back to your cabin. I have done it many times.
  15. The specialty dining is a wank. Book your self into solarium bistro in the first few new nights before people work out it’s the best deal on the ship.
  16. Wouldn’t you be better to catch the train and stay in a suburban hotel ,Olympic Park or even Haymarket. Fuel ,tolls and I wouldn’t be caught driving in Sydney for the life of me.
  17. I believe you have to put your credit card down and if you’re successful they charge you card. I believe once you make the bit you can’t back out of it but you can increase it. And you don’t get the double points but you have to be it it to win it.
  18. The only technology you require for Royal Caribbean is to set up a account with your details,I.D credit card ( a travel agent can do it for you). and just turn up at the terminal with a dumb look.
  19. I’m only going of what other people have posted on another site which I can’t name. The drinks weren’t cheap 3 years ago , I bought 2 martini’s and it come to close to $50 AU . I didn’t do that again. But the report’s are if you’re sensible and get a few specials like a bucket of beer or the drinks of the day you won’t get burnt to bad.
  20. I’m not sure but I think you can even get shorter time on the ships computer. In the library they have a couple of computers and I think someone said you can get a hour on those but I’m not sure. If you want I can find out for sure. But a 24hour block ever few days and a few texts in port would keep you in touch. Also I just remembered,it used to be ,the server that provides the Internet service for Royal Caribbean used a system that gave Support to Apple iMessage . So 2 Apple devices could communicate without the internet package.
  21. I have heard reports the drink prices aren’t that bad ?? People on the transpacific and the last cruise around NZ said they weren’t much more than a restaurant or a swanky bar. But I suppose you don’t spend a week in a upmarket bar.
  22. The state is cancelling projects left right and centre. They where just about to start a tunnel through Katoomba and the blue mountains but both the state and fed closed their check books at the last minute. They won’t be building a new cruise wharf.
  23. I showed some Americans on another site and they couldn’t believe it. The ship tour is almost $300 .
  24. Unless they sell White bay ,I can’t see our state having the money to build another terminal.
