  1. they do? In all the years of cruising, we've managed to visit Nassau only once (on RCI). We went to the Blue Lagoon, and it was glorious!
  2. in terms of having a kid's club - yes. Other than that, there was nothing for them to do, really. Jade broke down 3 days into our 10 day Southern Caribbean cruise and we had to go home. The smoke permeated the entire middle ship, the swaying was very pronounced, the food was average at best, other than the crepes in the buffet during dinner. I hope you enjoy your cruise! My kid enjoys every cruise he is on, whether or not it has bells and whistles.
  3. I seriously don't understand HOW OP thought that a $3K price for 4 passengers during a spring break in an OV cabin was real. Two months in advance???? OP, have you seen the prices for RCI cruises lately? We have stopped cruising with them because an inside room for 3 on Oasis class was in excess of $4K for a 7n cruise during school breaks. And the gratuities of $252 for 4 people for 7 days? That was a dead giveaway that something was glitching big time. well, you should have suspected it.
  4. what? If I book a cabin for 3, I am definitely expecting a sofa. So, you telling us the room will only have a chair tells me that you had a cabin for 2.
  5. we were there twice: Harmony + Indy, and Oasis+Mariner (I think), and it was fine. Keep going past the Chill Island beaches to your immediate left, and you will find some space. However, we don't use the waterpark at CocoCay. I am sure it has long lines for everything. We don't do Beach club either. For illustration:
  6. how old and big is your kid? Is he anywhere close to 165 cm? Mine is and he still loves pullman beds. However, Oasis class and newer doesn't have pullman beds. Here is what a sofa bed looked like in a regular balcony on Harmony: big enough to accommodate a regular adult (I took naps on it just fine, and I am pretty fluffy and tall for a woman): And this is a sofa bed on the Allure: definitely a double And this is a double sofa bed on the Oasis:
  7. we prefer newer ships and loooove Oasis class. Harmony is teensy bit better than Allure, IMHO, even though both are Oasis class. Both are definitely better than Mariner, simply due to being Oasis class and newer, imho.
  8. I found it easier to just put my foot on top of the sink and shave my legs that way. That aside, we loved Enchanted in Nov 2022 and are very much looking forward to our June 1 sailing on her again. You can see my review in the signature. We kept getting the same MDR table over and over again, and that particular team was slow. On the days we got a different table, our MDR dinner service was quick and efficient. Service outside MDR was fine. The ship is still shiny and new, and we loved it. ETA: We will NEVER sail on anything older than Royal Princess again.
  9. so glad y'all mentioned this.... I was about to get redeem my award points at work for a Celebrity gift card, but I read the T&Cs, and yeap - just like yours, it's a certificate, not a gift card, and as such it can only be applied towards the cruise balance payment. Cannot be applied to OBC or a cruise deposit. 😞
  10. if you do a search "bring and soda", you will find many similar threads:
  11. it took 2 weeks without expediting in December 2023. It took 8 weeks in August 2023. I think I'll wait a bit and not lose a year of passport validity.
  12. oh. We don't have that "problem". 🙂 We can only go during school breaks which we know of well ahead.
  13. through Celebrity. We don't book through TAs. P.S. Oh, and it's our first X cruise. P.P.S. Didn't get any OBC for our next two X cruises, though.
  14. why hurry? You don't even know if she has another cruise or international travel planned any time soon.
  15. not THAT long. We got $300 OBC on our upcoming 8n cruise in the inside cabin on Reflection. I booked it less than a year ago.
  16. not sure what "outside the norm" means, but we cruise with a school aged child, so we must adhere to school breaks, and we only like to sail in the Caribbean at this time. We also never get alcohol packages or specialty dining, and we don't gamble either. Never had a butler, and the most upscale cabin we ever got was a regular balcony. But mostly inside or obstructed balconies due to cost, though. I am sure that sailing outside of holidays or school breaks would definitely save us money (as it did before our kid started school), but we are not willing to either leave him at home or take him out of school when it's convenient for us to sail.
  17. try pricing a shorter cruise during a school holiday instead. 🙂
  18. we are going to stop by Publix before the cruise and carry on a couple of 12-packs of sodas.
  19. reminds me of this.... darn, somebody already posted it. Fine. I'll post a different one.
  20. from the IV reviews I've read, it gets hot very quickly in the Caribbean climate and it takes hours to get back to normal temperature.
  21. we usually end up going to the beach bar right where the taxi drops you off. It is not very big, so it fills up pretty quickly, but people do leave sometimes in the middle of the day so you can get a better spot. Last time we were there, they roped off a large area for our own cruise's beach break, but before that - the entire beach bar area was available. I think there is Sorobon Beach resort right next to it (to the right if looking at the water), but we never looked closely. I believe other people recommend Chogogo resort for fuller amenities, and it's not very expensive for the day beach break option. I think $25 including $10 food credit.
  22. well, I guess it was sorta fun. I love talking and love dogs (and dog parks).... A rather small consolation, I am afraid. Get better soon!
