  1. like me and my hubs. We are just a hair short of 50. And our teen kid. some of it is very good, indeed. I am so tired of Princess playing Sinatra and the like all the time. Thankfully, on our last cruise on Enchanted we were super pleasantly surprised with much more modern performances and music. we are not luxurious people, but we do like good food and a clean, well maintained ship. And a relaxing atmosphere. So, we are looking forward to experiencing what X has to offer. I will even bring my 70+ yo parents with us next year. Now, MSC definitely targets a much younger, family audience, but they have barely met our expectations. And talk about nickel and diming - $5 per extra entree in MDR and $5 for a soft serve cone which has traditionally been free on other cruise lines... Also, didn't we just discuss all of that in this thread? https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2991149-are-you-new-to-celebrity-if-so-what-did-you-think/
  2. how much were umbrellas and chairs, and was there wifi?
  3. we usually either tell the driver when to come and get us to take us back to the ship, or he gives us his phone number and we ask the bar staff to call them from a local phone about 30-45 minutes before we want to leave. yes
  4. how do I match my husband's RCI status to Celebrity Captain's Club? I did it for myself several months ago and I don't remember how. I've just enrolled him into the Captain's Club.
  5. he or she will NOT have a classic drink package...
  6. oh, in that case that'd be great. There will be 5 of us, with a somewhat immobile dad, so the expenses for getting 5 to the beach and entrance fees certainly add up very quickly. I hope we get to go to the Mahogany Bay. 🙂
  7. what's the difference between these two? We've been to Roatan a couple of times, but I am not even sure what particular port we were at. I think it was Coxen Hole both times. We just took a taxi to the beach (Infinity bay beach club in West Bay - it's next to Tabyana beach). We are going to be in Roatan again this June and at this time it's supposed to be Mahogany Bay port, but what's the difference? What's better about Mahogany Bay port?
  8. unless the "little thing" was not still not living together or not being married after 10 years of dating, I'd rethink this relationship all together.
  9. or he can go by himself. Why waste a cruise? I have read on this subforum that you can change the passenger up to 48 hours before the cruise.
  10. I don't think so. My other 2025 cruise costs more now than at the time of booking.
  11. do y'all complete the check-in for a no-show person? Whether they are planned or an unplanned no-show.
  12. I am on the phone with them now, and while they had no problem with repricing, they "must" move me to a different cabin... What the heck. When I booked this cabin back in January, it was available for booking for 3 people (the cabin has a double sofa, so it can accommodate 4 people). So, X wants it back so it could sell it to a group of 4. I don't want to move - all that's left for 3 people has obstructed views, and this one doesn't. And it's forward which is what I want.
  13. thank you! There is no OBC on the 2 cruises I have booked in 2025, so nothing to lose if I call to reprice. I just wanted to make sure they don't charge for repricing as if it were a "cancellation and rebooking".
  14. it was! I just checked my 2025 cruise and it's $300 cheaper. So, I can call and reprice, even with a NR deposit, right? They are not going to cancel and rebook (charging $100 pp to change), are they?
  15. oh, I thought the chat itself was down.
  16. what's wrong with the chat? Seems to be working.
  17. and the deluxe porthole balconies were all sold out?
  18. that is an incorrect assumption.
  19. I would think this a bit wasteful. Disposable glow sticks which stay aglow only for several hours vs. a reusable night light (usb or rechargeable battery operated).
  20. yes! We always cruise on Thanksgiving, in the Caribbean. Lots of families, lots of kids on 7-8 day itineraries, but not so many on 10 day itineraries (very geriatric by comparison). We never found it to be awful - we love it. @tulok you can see my 2022 review in my signature if interested.
  21. we no longer book guarantee, because when we did that at the beginning of our cruising history, we always ended up with the crapiest locations ever. Most of the time the guarantee rate on Princess isn't any cheaper than the rate which lets you pick your cabin (unlike RCI rates), so it makes sense to always book your desired cabin.
  22. I would NOT go on Caribbean Princess. It's old and tired. If you go with Princess, I'd go on any ship younger than Royal Princess.
  23. not on any of my upcoming cruises. 10% off on most, and 20% off on a rare few.
  24. the whole point is that they didn't LOSE out on it. They won the bid. sure, if I bid on the move from an inside to a balcony for $400 total (as I did with Princess), won it and it was then taken away, a couple of hundred dollars of OBC would have been a nice consolation prize. However, OP paid more than $5K (that's more than I pay for any cruise for the 3 of us) for the upgrade, won it, lost it and then got a measly $200 consolation OBC. I would be very upset.
