  1. To all you lovely people North, South, East and West - wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year. Here’s tae us, wha’s like us 🥂
  2. Not in the least envious 🤢. Cape Town is fabulous - so many things to see and experience. Hope you’ll take us along with you with some posts!
  3. I agree with all the above and I too love Azamara. Did three cruises on the journey back around 2010/2011 and then another last year on the Pursuit in the Med. Presumably you are going to use the cruise to get you to places you want to be and for that purpose it would be perfect. In fact, I wouldn’t compare it to P and O at all - it is a totally different product. There is entertainment - ie the white night where officers serve your food on deck, an amaazing evening when you will experience local culture plus some very talented singers on board. The food is fantastic and I seem to recall some nice cocktails which I know you enjoy. You might have to gallop round the deck five times to use up your boundless energy though!
  4. Sounds great Michelle - hope they all keep going like that and it’ll be lovely for your move.
  5. In Tenerife airport just now waiting for return flight from said Azura. Back in February too!
  6. Yes - must have had too many glasses when I posted!
  7. I agree - I also went to the Glasshouse last night - the very small extra charge far outweighs the standard of food. Enjoying the cruise overall though.
  8. They’ve obviously responded to passenger feedback and tonight is Christmas Jumper night not second formal tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how many adhere to that dress code- not me!
  9. Yes - I’ve just boarded and tried to book for the Glasshouse - didn’t realise it was a staff issue. Fortunately I booked the Beach House before leaving home. Loving the weather though 😎
  10. I agree - my last trip with them was 10 years ago (in the good old days😀). That was back when they had tiny ships for only 200 passengers - now sailing as Windstar I think). The special evening included excursions relative to the port were wonderful - eg evening classical music concert at Ephesus while in Kusadasi and ballet performance in St Petersburg are two I specifically remember. The food was fabulous and yes - the champagne🥂. The fares were very much cheaper then though.
  11. Hope you are keeping Azura in good shape - I’ll be boarding on Saturday!
  12. Any chance of syphoning a couple of glasses over here? Sounds delicious. 🍷
  13. A great post. There has been a bit of a furore up here about some of the food trucks which operate in the city centre at night not meeting the new LEZ standards - one company has had to crowd fund to replace a fridge truck to deliver the food into town (evidently they only acquired it in 2022). I am in total awe of those who operate and work in the outreach programmes. I volunteer at a local food bank and am often amazed at the number of people who don’t even own a cooker and can only be given things like pot noodles. Indeed how lucky we are. Lincslady - I hope you enjoy as many toddies as you like over the winter!🥃
  14. I think Marella go for quantity rather than quality - certainly the spirits they serve are pretty rubbish!
  15. Good morning - too cold for snow up here. Minus 6 degrees earlier but nice and sunny now 😀. I can’t remember who it was but I think one of you lovely people on here did a TA special with 3 nights in a hotel in Tenerife and then a week on Azura. Where was the hotel they gave you and what was it like? I am off on Wednesday for this deal - I’ve been on Azura a couple of times but haven’t done the trip this way.
  16. I so agree - like you we had some amazing trips (mostly cruises) which hold lifelong memories. We too started cruising in an inside cabin on Holland America to the Caribbean in the early nineties and progressed to better cabins and some amazing itineraries on some lovely ships. Back now as a solo in insides mostly with P and O (a line we never really did together) on easy routes in the Med and Canaries. Still enjoyable and much better than being at home!
  17. Looks like I’ve been overcharged then - probably something to do with the Scottish Government saving on dental bills! 🤔
  18. Don’t you folk have fridges down there?j
